were they all really filmed there, or were they just filmed in a snowy place that was supposed to be Antarctica?

neverending 11-02-2012 09:52 PM

Well, he asked what other films have been SET IN Antarctica, so I believe people have been answering that question...

Other Antarctic films were only set there and filmed elsewhere

South of Sanity is the only fictional feature film to have ever been shot in Antarctica. It was also filmed during a Southern winter when only around 1000 people live there on a continent the size of North America and Mexico combined.

The Thing I believe was shot in Alaska, not sure where AVP was shot?

That's Alaska.

Most importantly, who cares whether it was *shot* there or not. Ice is ice.

theres a shit load of difference between shooting in a safe haven like a snowy nz or cananda, compared to the actual Antarctica! would be very very challenging
Americans would have to get a mcdonalds made by the set specifically for the making of the film

I would love to go to Antartica but they hate tourists there. If I ever go I'll have to make sure I give the pilot a round of applause if he/she gets us there safely. If you go down anywhere near there you're doomed you aint getting rescued
