why do so many people like that movie
 

Ok this thread is about those horror movies or franchise’s that some people love, but you just can’t see why!!!!

For me some of these would be “The Blair Witch”, “Hellraiser” and “TCSM remake” and “Rocky horror picture show”

Blair which to me just looks like a crappy camping, home video, its dark some one has moved some sticks around … so what!!!!

Hellraiser, silly S&M movie, pain is pain, sex is sex, Barker is just having a silly sexual fantasy!!!!

TCSM Remake … It was a classic now it’s been remade as a shampoo advert

Rocky horror … words can’t describe how much I hate it!!! Richard O’Brian is cool though!!!

The rock pile bit in Blair Witch always reminded me of that part at the beginning of Ghostbusters.

Anywho, I never got the love for NoES. It's good, but some people act like it's the best thing ever. Ditto with the TCM remake...except the TCM remake is one of the worst remakes ever. Definately bottom 20 material

Halloween - I've never ever liked Halloween. I know its 'The Classic horror movie' and every single other person on this forum loves it, but It has never scared me and it just bores me.

Phantasm- I bought it on VHS for like $4 one day because I had heard such great things about it, but it just isnt my kind of movie. I havent ever made myself sit through the whole thing because I found the beginning very boring.


now that I think of it, I have to defend Rocky Horror. It's a little Eccentric, but Tim Curry is simple perfect. I love it!

blair witch project - why do people like this crap, the only explanation that i've come up with is that blair witch is a horror film for people who don't like horror films.

Controversal thread so I wouldn't trash anyone's opinion.......very subjective.

For me Signs is one. The ending pised me off so much it blew all the scary shit away, but I know this is popular.

The Ring and the entire Phantasm series spring to mind.

I thought The Ring was terrible. It was semi scary throughout and then the end just made it completely suck. The Phantasms are just boring. The Tall Man? Come on... What a gay villain. Oh wow, he controls some little orb that kills people in the exact same manner every single time... How exciting... Not only did the villain suck, but the hero was lame as well. How can you cheer for a fat bald middle aged hick named Reg? I was actually rooting for him to get killed in the first one. (I thought he did too, but damn them!) Every sequel after that, I would just roll my eyes when this tard showed up... "Oh no, not Reggie again. This guy sucks!"

Child's Play and Leprecahun sucked too, but I haven't really heard anyone saying they didn't, so I guess it would be hard to consider them over rated.







Side note: I really liked Wrong Turn alot. I thought it was one of the best new horror films that came out last year.

Same with 28 Days Later. I liked it. Sure the plot was not very original, but the cinematic aspects of that film were awesome! Waking up from a coma to find the hospital deserted and then wandering outside to realize the entire city is the same way... That was just freaky how they filmed that sequence.

I also liked Underworld, but I don't really consider it a horror movie. It's an action movie with vampires and werewolves. Yes, there are some horror aspects there, but that much gunplay makes it an action film in my mind.

Okay, that's enough rambling for me...

Zombie movies i cant get into em??? dont know y

Werewolf films and Dracula Films. How boring.

Event Horizon...That was a semi-scary movie as far as I can remember, but everybody(In Norway atleast) think it is great. Those who say this are'nt horror-entusiasts, but still.

I guess I'm one of those people who really liked this movie. Liked the concept and found it pretty scary...........but your opinion is valid.:)

and I dont even know if anyone likes this movie or not...but awhile back I rented a movie called "The Item"...it was horrible...I think it was by far the dumbest movie I've ever seen. I turned it off...couldn't even finish it. At least I did finish the Blair Witch Project...only once though. Once was enough for me.

And one final note, About event horizon. I didnt really care for it, mostly because i thought there was a lot more that could be done with the subject matter. However, i loved the whole "Doom"(the game) feel to it.

Many of these movies nowdays seem campy, boring, and not really scary, but having had the opportunity to see some of these movies upon their release in theatres, they did impact how horror/Sci-Fi movies have been made ever since.

Growing up with Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Dracula, and Godzilla. Made movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street seem shocking and geniunely scary.

For me Darkness Falls and They are lame.

i gotta to defent the tcm remake. i mean, the orignal is always the best, but i was really impressed with this remake. it was creepy, grusome, witty, wats not to like?
