Horror Comedies
So, I was wondering what cool horror comedies exist around there.
I saw, well, the Scary Movies series, which I didn't enjoyed that much... But I really enjoyed Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland and Tucker and Dale vs Evil, so I wanted something similar to those three. If there's already a thread like this, re-direct me and if possible, delete this one then. |
Go old school with "Cemetery Man" and "Dead Alive". I promise you won't be dissapointed.

Here are a few of my fav's, Most of them aren 't straight comedy/horror, but they have a really wicked sense of humor to them:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre II Doghouse Bad Taste Dead Alive Toxic Avenger Class of Nuke Em High Poultrygeist The Evil Dead series Bubba Ho-Tep Slither Blood DIner Cannibal: The Musical Killer Klowns from Outer Space Feast The Stuff The Tripper House Leprechaun in the Hood Tremors 1 and 2 NIghtmare City Whatever you do, do NOT watch Terrorvision or any horror/comedy with Leslie Nielsen. |
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll be sure to check them.
I've seen the first Evil Dead, don't consider it that' much comedy to be honest. And I've seen Tremors, but I can't recall it enough to make an opinion. |
I always liked The Addams Family was pretty funny

Now that I think about it, Nightmare City isn't really a comedy either, but it's pretty funny regardless. Another good one is Lake Placid |
zombieland : ]

Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Fido The Cabin in the Woods Night of the Creeps The Monster Squad The Old Dark House (1932) Re-Animator Return of the Living Dead Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon Young Frankenstein |
I definitely, definitely recommend Killer Klowns. Also, I thought that Dead Snow was pretty funny.

Tremors and Behind The Mask?
Those aren't comedies. Behind The Mask is satirical but not comedic and Tremors isn't comedic at all, at least not the first one. One i'd suggest that i haven't seen anyone mention is Hide and Creep. |
Tremors is not a slapstick comedy, but it definitely has a subtle humor to it.
And you're right, Behind the Mask isn't a comedy, but it's such a great, unknown flick that it deserves as much mention as possible, |

Alternatively, you could purchase Rifftrax for movies that you've already seen. I know that's not exactly what you're looking for but it's a nice mix of horror and comedy.

It doesnt 'casually rip off' 50's sci- fi, its a tongue in cheek homage to classic sci- fi, its also really fucking funny... A subtle comedy is still a comedy. The fact that you don't see it as a comedy or don't think its 'comedic' is besides the point. If I applied your rationale to comedy then anything I didn't find funny or deem to have enough comedic moments in wouldn't fit into the genre of comedy, which seems a little obtuse. But hey, that's just my opinion and you're entitled to yours. ;) |

Terror Toons
The Gingerdead Man Rumpelstiltskin Pinnochio's Revenge Ghoulies (none of these are great movies but they might be worth a watch) |
Love At First Bite (1979)
Young Frankenstein (1977) The Monster Squad |
I actually thought the first Evil Dead had a lot of dark humour to it like that tree with sexual intentions. I find humour in a lot of horror but especially these:
Street Trash Cast A Deadly Spell Witch Hunt Brain Damage Frankenhooker Basket Case Bad Biology Society Creepshow 1 and 2 The Monster Club Night Of The Creeps Night Of The Comet City Of The Living Dead The New York Ripper |
