Literary Villains

Obviously by my name you can tell that i love Villains. Lately, with the exception of Under The Dome, i haven't read a book with a really good iconic villain. The kind of villain that you love to read about, that you remember after you're done with the book. The kind of villain that makes the heroes great by being such a formidable foe.

So i was hoping all of you could give me some suggestions of books with great villains.

CaptainSpaulding 05-27-2012 09:23 AM

I enjoyed the book "The Exorcist" You can't get a more epic villian than that.

The Villain 05-27-2012 09:28 AM

Never read the book. I'll have to check it out. Thanks

CaptainSpaulding 05-27-2012 10:14 AM

No problem. It really is a great book. It goes into much more detail about the way the family is effected.

FreddyMyers 05-27-2012 10:21 AM

The Belasco house or the spirit of Emeric Bleasco himself. (Hell House)

The Villain 05-27-2012 10:59 AM

Thanks. It sounds good

I just finished HORROR: THE 100 BEST BOOKS edited by Stephen Jones and Kim Newman and if you have access to it at your library or you own it, check it out. It's packed with really evil bad guys. The most memorable is Breer, the Razor Eater in Clive Barker's THE DAMNATION GAME. Makes me want to read it.

The Villain 05-27-2012 03:15 PM

I'll check that out too and The Damnation Game. Thanks.

I was really expecting people to give me books i've read, guess i havent read as many books as i thought. Let's keep them coming.

I don't know how true it is but I've heard talks of a third Bill & Ted movie. You anywhere close to where they are filming The Hobbit?

Fearonsarms 06-02-2012 10:14 PM

Though he's not horror per se-The Archimandrite in Iain M Banks's The Algebraist you would love villain. Iain M Banks's books are mostly sci fi but there are horror elements too and some great villains.

The Villain 06-03-2012 12:07 PM

sounds cool, i'll check it out

It's an epic read but worth it for all The Archimandrite's sections-his level of cunning evil is intense!
