Halloween Postpartum Depression

The candy is gone, NeverEndingWonder extravaganza is over, AMC has gone back to showing Road House, the Jack-o-Lantern is rotten, the calendar says November --- Halloween is over dammit!

How do you adjust to and cope with the post-Halloween blues? How to celebrate horror heading into the holidays?

At least there are a couple of promising movies to look forward to the rest of the year. Here's a new trailer that just popped up:

It's always a bummer :/
I usually just watch a few more horror movies for the first couple days of November.
Also, tonight we have part 2 of American Horror Story's Hallowe'en episode, so that'll be nice.

Can't wait for this one. I thought House of the Devil was great. I'm keen to see how he tackles a haunted house story.

You can get candy and horror movies anytime. It is a bummer having to wait a year for Neverending Wonder though.

50% off Halloween candy and I am still on my movie marathon! Haha I hear ya though, shits weak. Going to be snow and sleigh bells up my ass very very soon.

Actually, NeverEndingWonder Radio broadcasts 24/7 365 days a year.

My Ween

i was still putting my costume together november first before realizing ween had passed. my lil brev turns twenty-one on the eighth though, so i still have a reason to go into public as a lich-whore. halloween, an excuse for public television to play outdated horror films, a reason to promote obesity in american children, an excuse for girls to dress as sluts and men to dress as women. phenomenal.

I'm curious, have you ever thought of broadcasting NE W radio on a Roku channel? A lot of people have music channels on it. I know absolutely nothing about broadcasting a channel on Roku but thought it might be a way to expand your audience.

Halloween was a bummer this year. A broken leg and knee surgery put me out of commission. I was unable to hand out candy, decorate my house, or even go with my kids trick or treating.:(

It wasn't all bad though, I did watch many horror flicks and raided my kids candy bags!:D

Dude, I totally forgot about your knee surgery! How are you feeling?

I am seriously in the worst pain I've ever been in...Until I pop the magic pills the doctor prescribed me...They prescribed me oxycontin and percocet and as long as I take them I feel fantastic, lol.:D The self controlled morphine drip at the hospital was amazing! I got a bit goofy a few times, lol.

hammerfan 11-03-2011 01:02 PM

Have you started physical therapy yet?

Ah the morphine drip-the only good thing about being in hospital

No joke! I'd never had morphine before and I can see how someone could quickly become an addict! If heroin is anything like morphine then I finally get why there are so many heroin junkies...

Fearonsarms 11-03-2011 06:44 PM

LOL the legal hospital prescribed drugs are a million times better than heroin. You remember when Stevie Nicks got addicted to the tranquilizers the docs were giving her to get her off the coke in the 80s? Addiction can happen to anyone.

I don't disagree with you. I'd be a jukie if I had constant access to morphine all the time...I'm not very knowledgeable on the difference between street and medical drugs...Never really got into the doper scene other than smoking my weed...

God that's so awful - Totally understand what you're going through. I'm surprised that the pain is still this bad for you and I'm sorry that it is. :( - Hopefully once they remove the stitches and you start the physical therapy, stretching and moving it around will help.

You know what's weird? Morphine didn't really do much for me... Well, it made me not care about the pain, but I could still feel the pain... It was really weird. I was also incredibly disappointed after hearing about how great morphine was - LOL... They gave me Dilaudid in the hospital which was SPECTACULAR, though - Definitely made the percocets seem like baby aspirin. ;)

...

As for dealing with the passing of Halloween... Just found out that the Somerville Theater is doing a KILLER FILM FEST this weekend!

It's a festival of indie horror movies and shorts. I plan on going tomorrow and already bought my day pass for tomorrow.

Different drugs affect different people in different ways. Morphine might not do much for you in the way it has with me and sistinas when we've had it but then Dilaudid which did a lot for you may do little for me and sistinas. It's important that you find which painkiller works for you so when you are in hospital you can help them by giving you the right stuff e.g I have a violent reaction (projectile vomit, head spinning etc) to large doses of paracetamol so that's a definite no-no. Anyway I hope neither you or Sistinas end up in hospital again it's still a horrible place to be.
