How Many Films In Your Movie Library...

I am a nerd grade cinephile.

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 5,000 DVDs and probably another 500 VHS tapes (films never released on DVD).

Probably 25% of which is the horror / sci fi genre.

How bad is the sickness with you guys?

I think I have about a dozen.

There, you can feel all puffed up now.

That is kinda surprising. I suspected that most here would have rather extensive movie libraries.

I have over 500

I have a rather modest collection: About 125 dvds, 9 blu-rays, around 50 vhs, and close to 800 downloaded. I know its not cool but since I discovered netflix and bit torrents I rarely buy anything anymore....

I have a modest 200ish dvds (90% horror/sci fi)-to be honest I don't bother with dvds anymore they take up too much room that I don't have. The UK's horror channel and blinkbox are the gifts that keep giving.

I have a lot probably at least 600 or so in my collection-

I have less than 30 - and that is a mixture of genres at that.

Basically I got tired of having to rebuy a flick every time it came out in a different format.
I don't buy a movie just because I like it. I'll watch and rewatch it many times if I think it's good,
but I won't buy one unless it has a profound effect on me for whatever the reason.

Though most of them are pirated dvds but the box sets are originals...mostly bought them on e-bay. There's still plenty of dvds left in my collection that I haven't seen yet and until I saw a dvd I don't add it in my dvdaf.com account.

Man, yeah, Urge had I think around 8000 last time someone posted a thread like this. There's no telling what he's up to now.

Just for clarification, one need not have only store bought movies to qualify. When my movie collection was VHS the vast majority were recorded from cable TV. The important issue is only having the movie on your shelf so to speak.

And having it on the shelf means you have greater opportunity to watch, rewatch and watch again. And it is then that you sometimes pick up the subtleties and nuances that are often missed with casual, limited viewings.

Rest assured I don't have $50,000 invested in my movie library.

oh neither do I many are transfers from VHS etc many came from garage sales and flea markets-there's a flea market about an hour away from us that runs year round every Friday and you can find tons of DVD's and VHS plus all kinds of out-of print horror novels as well
