i just like to know if anybody ever tries to get your kids to watch movies you liked when you were young. i got my son today to watch monster squad and he said it was boring, when i was young i loved this movie, whenever i put movies on i loved as a kid he thinks they are so stupid.do you think kids movies today are rubbish from when you were young.

My daughter loves Fraggle Rock. I know thats a TV show, not a movie but i figure it counts. I always loved that as a kid.

I don't think family films today are any worse than they used to be. You tend to forget all the crap of the past and just remember the gems, so it seems like the old films are better.

My children (20 and 17 - so not exactly children anymore) loved a large portion of the films I introduced to them over the years, but we have our differences.

I've turned both of my sons onto Monster Squad...as well as my niece and nephew...All of them love it! Its a timeless classic, imo...

The Villain 09-19-2011 03:28 PM

Nope just Dragon Ball Z but why are you lumping them all together? Pokemon and Digimon i get but Dragon Ball Z is completely different.

TheWickerFan 09-20-2011 02:09 AM

My children were seriously into Pokemon. I did kind of like the show; it was so silly at times. The movies were pure torture. All the humor from the TV show was taken out.

I'm not saying you have to watch them. I was jut making a point that they're different thats all. They're obviously not for everyone though.

I love Labyrinth!

Oh my now you've got me all nostalgic and reminiscing-those old studio ghibli films have such an emotional attachment to me that I couldn't watch them today it would freak me out. They represent such childhood innocence to me that is genuinely moving-outstanding stuff! :)

My son is 9 and I got him to watch Monster Squad. He loved it. It's great when he enjoys something I watched when I was growing up....I took him to the movies to watch Ghostbusters when they were doing a special screening of it last summer. I think this is better because he gets to experience it the same as me on the big screen versus just watching it on dvd.
