The scariest game you've ever played
Its quite simple, as a horror forum, just wanna know what games have made you shiver with fear
Ill start - scariest game I played lately was a demo of FEAR 2 - one part when you walk down a corridor, hear a noise behind so turn around, nothing there, turn back the way you was facing and the girl (Alma I think) is standing right in front of you ... Ill admit 2 jumping and throwing the controller down, lol |

Those monsters come out of nowhere and there's no fighting them. You die instantly. |

Eternal Darkness, it made me think my Gamecube was broken with its evil tricks.
|
I played the first Manhunt in the dark with surround sound. That freaked me out. Dead Space got me a few times too.
|
Run Like Hell.
Only really horror game I played, that scared me some times. |
Has any1 ever played Siren: Blood Curse? My mate has it on his trophy list n when I asked him about it, he said it was the scariest thing he has ever seen and he'll never play it again ... Just wondering if it's worth picking up

This wasnt a video game, but when I was a kid we played something called Billy Bones. We would be anyplace where it was dark, a house, in the woods, it was especially effective in a cemetary. Someone would say Billy Bones is in that doorway, behind that tree, tombstone etc. To think about it now it was kind of stupid but to a 10 year old kid it was scary as hell.

it would have to be silent hill for me as well, when it came out on the first play station,i had to put the controler down cus the sirens were going off and all these mad noises happening,so i turned the game off took me a while to play that game for ages lol.

Games definitely do a better job of making me jump etc than movies, think it's the immersion factor, and you are actually in control of the character. |
The first Quake really did it for me back in the day...the initial playthrough...

Fatal frame was somewhat cheezy but did the job for me in the scare department as well

Does desperation count as fear? If so, some of those motherfucking underwater Sonic levels put me on edge - Not to mention Doom 2, if you try to play that through with no cheats or anything...running out of ammo while trying to avoid running right into another thing that'll kill you...gets crazy...
If you're after a very...kind of unsettling game? I'd recommend "Echo Night - Beyond" on PS2...It's not that it's REALLY super scary or anything, just gives you a certain feel between being completely alone and claustrophobia? |
The Sonic is about to drown countdown music was pretty freaky.........
|
For me it has to be Quake. Played alone at night on a 50" screen. Spooky. Great stuff, though.

My son mentioned a game called Amnesia. I've never played it, but it looks pretty tense.

I thought Condemned: Criminal Origins was pretty scary. I also played a little bit on the second one, but never finished it since I chickened out. I remember I was walking through some ruined apartments and I went into a bathroom to see if there was anything interesting in there. Nothing happened, but as soon as I looked into the mirror, I saw a guy come up behind me and attack me which scared the piss out of me. Haven't touched the game since.

Siren, scared the living shit out of me.
Of course, this was a few years back, and I have some paranoia issues, but this game is a complete mind fuck of a game. The whole series is down right frightening, & is difficult to beat as well. Some creepy game play moments in the newest Siren game. Games are based on this village, Hanuda, in Japan. You can find videos of the village on Youtube. Psychologically scary, I'd have to say Rule of rose. It's not so much gorey and disturbing in the 'dead things' sense, it's more shock factor, and "The hell is going on?! This is bloody insane." sense. It was only released in some countries, others have banned the game because of some psychological factors. Rule of Rose trailer ((US)) & Game description below One of the disturbing bits of the game. It doesn't really spoil anything, but watch at your own risk madams & sirs. |
