The Gate

Here you go Sistinas.:D

I really enjoyed this film. It's a great starter film for young, aspiring horror fans.

P.S. This is a serious thread people!! We're actually discussing the film The Gate.

Sistinas666 02-02-2011 03:14 AM

Great topic!:D

This masterpiece grossed $13,539,458 despite only costing 2.5 million to make!

Lol-the creatures were great! That special effect hasn't aged well, lol.

Its crazy seeing Stephen Dorff go from that child to some of the roles hes taken on lately.

I really loved this film.

Especially the bit where the scientist created a creature from cadavers but accidentally put the brain of a deranged criminal in its skull.

And the bit where the ancient Egyptian mummy was resurrected after some explorers defiled its tomb.

One of Bela Lugosi's finest films, I believe.

I see he also directed Kraken: Tentacles Of The Deep. Sean Keller (aka Roderick Usher) was a writer for that film.

FreddyMyers 02-04-2011 09:59 AM

No shit, thats really cool. HDCs very own 6 degrees of Roderick Usher.....

.....eh, we'll make it work....

The Gate scared me more than any other movie ive ever watched. I guess it was the right age(6 or 7 maybe) and when i watched it but for some reason(not like little demons runnin around arent reason enough) the Gate scared the shit out of me. Havent watched in quite some time. Somethin tells me it wont be nearly as scary as i remember.

TheWickerFan 02-04-2011 11:53 AM

Probably not, but I thought it had its moments:http://www.joblo.com/digital/images/news/hand%20eye.jpg

Elvis_Christ 02-08-2011 03:53 PM

No one ever mentions the sequel. It's great too.

Professor Matt 02-11-2011 05:56 AM

i saw this movie a couple of weeks ago on tv.
i thought the description dish tv gave it was pretty hillarious.. it was something along the lines of a heavy metal album unlocks a portal to hell in the backyard of a suburban neighborhood...

No, they got it wrong. The heavy metal album just talked about it, it had nothing to do with opening the gate. Stupid TV guide people.

Sistinas666 02-11-2011 09:05 AM

Heavy metal ruins everything.

Fearonsarms 02-21-2011 06:18 AM

Ah I saw The Gate when I was very very young and I think I saw the sequel years ago but completely forgot about it. I'll have to check them out see how they stand up today *Looks at huge pile of DVDs not watched yet* Give me a while lol
