Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, is that right?
Lol, well congrats on getting a/the new job.
I couldn't work with animals.

neverending 01-03-2011 09:11 PM

Congrats Cheeba. That's great news. You deserve a lot of credit for the path you're taking.

cheebacheeba 01-03-2011 10:17 PM

Thanks folks, especially you NE...I give you a lot of shit, but to me your nod to it actually means something.

Just getting my head around the increase in hours here...this is my last week of anything resembling freedom in some time.
Full time plus studies...always looked at people who did that like they were kinda fucked in the head, now I'm joining them in their insanity.
Ah well, for the long term and all that...I don't have to study forever I suppose.

This is seriously gonna do my head in.:(

X¤MurderDoll¤X 01-03-2011 10:35 PM

congratulations on the new job :)

Elvis_Christ 01-04-2011 12:58 AM

Right on man. That's great news and once you get organised it won't seem as full on. Make the most of the free time while you can!

Worried about getting outsmarted?

roshiq 01-04-2011 01:05 AM

Congrats & best of luck, cheeba.:)

I know how much lucky I was when I did my MBA few years back. My bosses were very much supportive & I really thankful to them as they always allowed & gave me leave or day-off whenever I need for my studies then. And I'm glad that my results turned out the pretty good that satisfied everyone at the end.

Some advice - wait a while before you lend your Cannibal Holocaust or Men Behind the Sun DVDs to your coworkers.

TheWickerFan 01-04-2011 01:31 AM

Well done Cheeba. Best of luck.:)

ferretchucker 01-04-2011 08:53 AM

Awesome! You do those animals proud! I heard some maniac is hurling ferrets around. SEARCH AND DESTROY!

Bizarre 01-04-2011 09:36 AM

Congratulations.

I know I don't know you, but it's awesome that you're doing something you actually care about.

Despare 01-04-2011 10:31 AM

Been a long time coming, congrats.

ManchestrMorgue 01-04-2011 11:41 AM

Congrats on getting the job. And on choosing a career that is meaningful.

I wish you every success - and the study isn't so bad once you get used to it.

I know one decent rspca guy. The rest are left winged fuck heads. Who have turned the rspca into nothing more than carpet bagger org

newb 01-04-2011 04:34 PM

The fuck are you on about?

cheebacheeba 01-06-2011 04:39 PM

I think he's talking about the fact it's pretty beurocratic...but hey whatever, any given workplace is.
I'll just do the best I can with what I've got with a clear mission in mind, can't really ever do more.

cheebacheeba 01-09-2011 04:21 AM

Well guys...

This will be my last post in a while I guess...
It's about 12:20am on Monday morning where I am now...I'm going to get about 5 hours sleep when all is said and done considering I have to almost completely reverse my sleep routine.
I'm starting the job today, and pretty anxious considering this is pretty much it for me, for the rest of my working days I hope to be working as part of this organisation or at very least one very like it...official death of my "freedom" and all, time to stop being a (relative) slacker.

Anyways folks...I'll still stick my head in and surely give the occasional post and/or update, but I just thought I'd come in for now and say a temporary "BYE".
So, until next time, take care folks and I'll see you sometime later down the line.

Ferox13 01-09-2011 04:44 AM

Goodluck man...

Theres not reason you can't do a full time job/study and still post on the net a couple of times ..It'll take 15-30mins outta ya time a week.

cheebacheeba 01-13-2011 10:30 AM

Quick update guys.
Man...no matter how prepared you try to make yourself for it, some of the stuff I've been hearing...still hits you.
Since joining up I've found out I can do my studies through them, same syllabus but even more industry related, I can pay off the course and then get the cost reimbursed once I'm done with it. Also this means I am now only busy 5 days a week instead of 6 which is great.
Getting some hands on work with the animals at the shelter when I need to complete related modules, and doing occasional ride alongs with the inspectorate as well which'll be some great experience.
This is maybe one of the most depressing and emotionally draining things I've ever had to do, but there's good parts to it too...you just have to wade through some real bullshit...
Overall, it's good to know you're doing something worthwhile though, and helping when and where you can.

TheWickerFan 01-13-2011 12:51 PM

I cannot imagine the horrible things you must have had to deal with. I have a real weak spot for animals, and just the thought of anything bad happening to them makes me go to pieces. You're an admirable man.:)

Yup, tip of the iceberg unfortunately...every time I think I've heard/seen some shit, lately something comes along to top it.
I think one of the most depressing things to deal with is certain peoples attitudes, I mean I don't expect every single person to be the same as me or anything, I understand a lot of perspectives are forged out of upbringing but just to encounter some of the callous bullshit they can come out with...

It has done on this end too...not so much at work, but I'm feeling pretty drained by it in all honesty, between this and (I don't know if you've heard?) these massive floods we've been having here, both the human and animal loss - been a pretty shit week, but it's officially done, I got through the first week and I'm starting to get my head a little further above the water.

Tell you what people, going from p/t nights to full time days SUCKS...every night when I get home I'm that dead that I just eat, shower, get shit ready for the next day then crash...haven't had much time to watch more'n a couple of things during the week, videogames are for shit...
But hey, despite what must seem like a bit of negativity I have about this, I work with some very cool people, it's surprisingly un-wanky, people who are straightforward and not full of the shit I've become so accustomed to in my work history...there is also a feeling that I'm working for something good, this is what actually makes me not dread going to work and has been keeping me afloat here...I actually don't hate this job...makes a big difference.

That's all I've got folks.
