*&^%$#@! Snow
I do hate snow. How are my fellow Eastern seaboard residents coping this morning?
|
I like the snow. But, this sucks.
|
We've had snow here in the UK for two weeks or so coupled with some seriously low temperatures (-17C in my area). Defrosting the car at half five in the morning every bastard day soon gets old. Finally today the temp has been high enough for the snow to washed away by rain. Roll on summer.
From what Ive seen on TV, the East coast does seem to be getting battered, just got keep yourself safe and ride it through. |
You know what this means y'all. You don't ride your cars enough.
|
We haven't gotten hit yet but it's headed this way.
|
I wish for snow...it's always hot here...I suppose you people would LIKE that?

I've lived in Jersey since 99. Every time it snows the plows are out immediately. All the main roads are cleared before the snow stops falling.
This time, it's like they had no idea it was going to snow. It wasn't till about 3:30pm when they finally plowed my block. I took a ride to Blockbuster and none of the main roads had been done, at all. It was unbelievable. i work over 25 miles away. I hope I can get there tomorrow. |
We're on Long Island; it's pretty bad, but not disastrous.
I've been hearing horror stories about people in New Jersey getting stuck on the highway overnight. |
When I went to Blockbuster today, the NJ equivalent of Sunrise or Montauk Hwy were not even touched by plows.
I lived in Babylon for 35 years. Moved to NYC in 96 and then to NJ in 99. I miss the Island. But, believe it or not, Jersey has some things going for it. When my sister found out I moved to Jersey, she just said "Why?" :o |

The one thing I really hate about Long Island is the inability to go anywhere without having to drive through the city. |

Friggin snow plows. The highways looked like somekinda horror movie cause it was full of abandoned cars. I have chains for my tires so the next morning and about an hour of digging i finally got it out but there were about a dozen cars still just sitting there on a major highway. It was crazy. Jersey....a love/hate relationship. |

It did seem like Jersey didn't know it was going to happen. But, more then likely it's lack of money from town to town that kept the plows off the road.
If you're ever going to Jersey from LI: Take the Southern State to the Belt Parkway. Go over the Verazanno and then depending on where in Jersey you're going, you can take the Goethels or the Outerbridge Crossing. From my home in Jersey back to Babylon using these directions, it's only 60 miles. Jones Beach or Nassau Coliseum less then 50 miles. I wish I knew that all those years ago when I used to see Springsteen at the Continental Arena, or when I'd go to Atlantic City via the Jersey Turnpike. What a dumbass I was. Atlantic City ONLY take the Garden State Parkway. |
Round 2. How are we all doing this time?
|
got about 20 inches or so
it's hard as hell to shovel with a beer in one hand but I managed. |

Only got a couple inches. Thank god..... Wouldve had to work an 18hr shift
There were some of the biggest snowflakes last night ive ever seen though, most of em bigger than a quarter. I dont get whats going on but it has been the craziest two winters in a long time. Still have another month and 1/2 of this. Geez |
Yet another Eastern seaboard blizzard. Heard the I-95 in Connecticut had people stranded overnight. This is getting ridiculous.
|
I'm stuck in my own driveway. Sigh.
