remember when

Big macs were big?

ferretchucker 07-25-2010 04:54 AM

Whilst I don't tend to eat Big Macs, yes I think I know what you mean. To be fair I think it's the same with most things nowadays.

and they used to be more 'macky' as well!

I'm not sure if it's been that much of a decline in size but it wouldn't surprise me...these days I don't go to McDs habitually any more, but one thing that's annoyed me (here in Australia) is since the whole "supersize me" thing, they've made changes...now, I'm behind most of these changes, introducing healthy options and all, it's great and I'm sure covers them better legally to some extent, but I have to say I no longer really like the bread they're using for their burgers...they changed it, and I'm not sure what's different (I'd assume less sugar) but in all honesty now it seems crumbly and not so great...way I figure it is, if you're going to McD, AND you're not going to order from the "healthy" part of the menu, then whatever the fuck, you should get what you've always been able to, not some modified version.

fuglystick 08-31-2010 10:02 PM

They should make Big Macs with those Angus patties. That'd rock.

cheebacheeba 08-31-2010 10:08 PM

You can ask for that. They just charge way too much.
You can make a better big mac at home any day for much cheaper...the recipe's been in various places online forever.
When I go there, if I'm getting fries, I get big mac sauce.
I even got it on a sundae a few times. Weird, but ok.

Elvis_Christ 08-31-2010 10:16 PM

I remember them changing the size of the bun to a smaller one quite some time ago (haven't eaten the shit in years) and they started using less sauce too.

They've never looked as big as the pictures as Michael Douglas pointed out in Falling Down :D

Haha that's some stoner shit right there man! Were they surprised when you asked for it?

Actually, originally I was on shrooms when I conceived the idea.
Having worked at McD waaay back in the day, I can guarantee very little actually surprises them. But yeah...I don't know why but I kind of like it...If I order that sundae, it's with big mac sauce and crushed oreos.

Elvis_Christ 08-31-2010 10:23 PM

I won't knock it till I try it. It does sound more appetizing to me with crushed Oreos for some reason. I'll give it a spin one day!

Remember when Dairy Queen didn't suck, before they started microwaving frozen patties?

Posher778 09-01-2010 11:19 AM

Is the stuff in coke zero really THAT bad for you? I know it's unhealthy, but really.

Most people are taken in by the aspartame, but it's actually an urban legend.

http://web.archive.org/web/200502070...aspartame.html

It's a holdover from when saccharine was proven to give labrats cancer.

I prefer Coke Zero because it tastes better. $1 Coke Zero keeps me conscious to write. But, during the rest of the year, a small Coke's a dollar anyway and you can refill it as many times as you want. Unless you're at a McDonald's at a mall which tend not to have soda fountains.

Remember when - those kids' cereals had more sugar in them which made them so much more delicious? Trix and Cap'n Crunch (particularly peanut butter flavor) just aren't the same anymore.

And I miss these:http://pzrservices.typepad.com/vinta...ankenberry.jpghttp://frederatorblogs.com/channel_f...4/booberry.jpg

Always amazed me why people pay for larger sizes in these American places when you can just buy a small one and make a few trips to the machine!!! I've yet to find a fast food place in England with free refills. The only one where you actually pour your own drink is Subway to my knowledge, and it's still no refills.
