Today is the start of TV Turnoff week, turn off your TV's for a week and show who's really in charge.

No thanks. ;) I did turn my TV off when the shite Stephen King marathon was on Scifi the other day. I've yet to figure out how they could play movies by one of the best writers of all time, and still manage to not show shit worth watching.

Its not stopping me, I don't see why you wouldnt since your have already paid for movies and the like.

The Idea is from Adbusters.org and I guess they just decided it would be this week, they did National buy nothing day a while back which I participated in also.

If you can still watch movies, there hasnt been anything good on television in a while anyway.If we can make a political statement over it, all the better.

Well i Tried....lasted about a half hour....I guess I need something along with the music the headphones the internet...come to think of it im fucking multi-tasking.....never thought I could do that...damn im good:p

Ours is off, it really makes the time go by alot slower. I actually started workin on classical guitar again. If i'd known it have gotten me enough motivation to start THIS again, id have turned it off 12 months ago lol.

there is no proper point to this no tv business, i mean nobody really gives a shite if you watch tv or not, it doesnt offend anyone, it doesnt cause bodily harm it does nothing and if there is no specific reason or its not being done to raise funds for dying or something then there is no fucking point :D

No it doesnt hurt anyone. But it does waste HOURS of your day, EVERYDAY. We usually just have it on for background noise, but you wouldnt believe how peacefull is it now that its off, i think im gonna keep it off alot more often.

PLUS, i dont know about you, but ive seen ALMOST EVERYTHING on there like a million times, and reality TV is a fucking joke. I mean if you want to sit there and turn of your mind for fucking hours, go ahead, like you said your not hurting anyone, I just happen to have alot of other things i NEED to get done, and doing this is helping me, now if i can make a political point at the same time, id much rather be doing THAT than watching another King of the Hill/Siefield/Dharma and Greg/Other sitcom BULLSHIT, thats a FUCKING RERUN anyway...:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

NO POINT TO TV TURNOFF WEEK!!? You obviouslly show your ignorance with a statment like that. For your information TV channels make money by selling air time to commericals, and how do they decide what to charge, based on how many viewers a certain show has. So more popular shows therefor are more expensive to buy air time in the middle of. SO in TV Turnoff week you are therefor cutting revenue from the TV channels. Why is this important or significant you ask? Just some information for you, on average by the time a person reaches 18 years old, they are estimated to have scanned over 8 million ads. That alone makes me want to turn off what Corporate america thinks I should spend my hard earned money on, I get a little sick and tired of in the middle of my quality show getting blasted by people telling me to buy their shit. So not only does this solve that problem, but it also hurts the profit margine of the Major Media Corperations (abc,cbs,nbc) and why is this good, because the big three MMC's lobby congress to makes laws in their favor that then give tax breaks and corporate walfare to who you may ask, well take a guess, the MMC's. So not only does Tv turnoff week save your from being a direct statistic of corporate america itself, but also hurts their ability to pass their own laws and control the american citizen. Finnaly Tv turnoffweek is important because Television turns you into a zombie, turn if off for a day and see how much more time you have when its not divided into 2 30 minute segments, see what you can get done, heaven forbid an american citizen get off the couch and perhaps *gasp* EXERCISE, if american's cared for their chelesterol level as much as they care about the local gas prices we would all be a little healthier.

So next time you want to comment about how something IS or ISN'T inherently evil, you may want to get your facts straight little girl.

but u cant avoid everything. food, ALL the shit in your house, movies, cds, toys, body care stuff... its impossible. it does suck to give into these shits, but at the same time too, it aint all that bad. these corps generate jobs, which is good. bill gates, a mega billion trillion gazillionaire. forget the motives, be it a love for people or for tax ride offs, fact is the man donates his monkey ass off to all kinds of charities. also, i work at the special olympics and its all sponsored, and that shit is expensive to run. and im really glad the kids have it available for them as well. sure, its advertising, but again, the kids.
