I was expecting it to be more gory and disgusting considering the storyline. Quite a twisted concept and an enjoyable film that I dug a bunch. I guessing this will be quite the cult hit if it manages to get a wide release.

not sure how good the sequel will be

Got a big write up in Rue Morgue Magazine this month. My boyfriend actually told me about it before I read the article and based on the description I assumed that it was a Japanese movie... Reminds me a bit of Visitor Q; not the content, but the fact that the director is clearly out there to shock the audience... Plus he mentioned that he's a huuuuuuuuuuuge Miike fan, which isn't a surprise.

Anyway. It's currently on Comcast On Demand. I'm reeeeeeeeeally super curious about it, but don't think I can watch it... Look... digusting...

Zwoti - What did you think of it?

Here's the official trailer:

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

(I am really fascinated by this movie though)

neverending 05-08-2010 08:48 PM

You missed my review- I was the first here to see it.

That's right, you young turks, the old man beat all of you to it.

This is not an upcoming movie- it's in release and available via on demand.

Caenxavier 05-09-2010 01:52 AM

Sounded interesting, but the acting looks like shit and the story looks super convoluted but I can't really say without watching it I suppose.

Acting is very weak except for the doctor..

I think they should have made it a Celebrity Reality Show instead.

I hope you're joking my friend. I do not wish that on any television show, movie, or other form of entertainment.

No way - think as Gary coleman as the first segment and his little arms and legs dangling too short to reach the ground. Kinda like a tiny dwarfish hood ornament..

TheWickerFan 05-09-2010 05:28 AM

Takashi Miike; Human Centipede. Sounds like a winner to me!!

friday13thfan 05-09-2010 07:37 AM

It looks interesting. I know they are in the makes of a sequel with possibly 12 people as the centipede. I really want to see this.

Ok, ok, Mr. three-line-review... But what did you actually THINK of it?

neverending 05-09-2010 09:49 AM

Hey- it's more of a review than Zwoti gave.

I liked it. It teeters on the edge of black comedy, just because of the whole conceit it's built upon.

Whoops, sorry. Don't know why I thought it was.

It still looks wild though. Roger Ebert's review makes it look more intriguing than ever.

i don't "do" reviews.

different people have different tastes, thing to do is find people with similar tastes and get their opinions.

alas, i fear, there is no-one with my tastes around any more.

If that's the definition of an "upcoming movie" then there are a few hundred thousand upcoming movies around.

Didn't think our tastes were so different!

So according to CNN.com, this is the "Most Disturbing Movie Ever Made."

http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Movi...ex.html?hpt=T2

Ok. I’m not surprised that it’s getting that kind of reaction from critics, but “Most disturbing movie ever made”?

I see them mentioning “Saw” and “Hostel,” but what about “Visitor Q,” “Tetsuo,” “Blue Velvet,” and “Itchi the Killer”?

I think that it should be appended to read “The most disturbing movie ever made… That has gotten even remotely popular attention.”

Thoughts?

I mean, it’s clearly grotesque, but grotesque cinema is nothing new… Why is it this film that’s getting all the attention? Why not any of the above mentioned predecessors? Presumably the former weren’t really watched which might beg the question: Why are we watching this type of movie now?

neverending 05-11-2010 11:58 AM

Right place at the right time?

TheWickerFan 05-11-2010 12:00 PM

Does anyone know if this movie is going to get wide release?

missmacabre 05-11-2010 12:18 PM

Oh God, critics make us seems like such deranged people for enjoying this kind of thing. That CNN article was not cool. Horror films = Two Girls, One Cup. I'm sorry, what? Curiosity, sure. I get that, but the trailer and everything I have seen, read and heard about Human Centipede doesn't look that out of the norm for horror movies. Crazy doctor/scientist makes creatures/monsters out of various body parts from several people. Where have I seen that before? I'm not going to pretend the trailer didn't make me a bit sick to my stomach but can using your imagination alone take a movie from being mildly disturbing at most, to "Most disturbing movie ever made"?

roshiq 05-11-2010 12:43 PM

I still haven't seen Visitor Q,” “Tetsuo,” “Ichi the Killer” or this new sensation "HC". But the films that I like to call disturbing is Oldboy & Inside; at this moment I can't recall any other films...sorry. Yesterday saw The STONING OF SORAYA M. which I found also very disturbing. But I don't like to call Saw, Eden Lake & Hostel as a Dist. film, they are solid entertainer or at least tries to be entertaining to its audience.

Anyway, first need to see this film asap, then I can comment about it but it seems the statement is pretty "overrated" to me.;)

neverending 05-11-2010 12:44 PM

It isn't tthe most disturbing, but the analogy connecting it to two girls one cup is somewhat apt. I'm not going to say any more because I don't want to give away any plot points....

No I get the analogy, but I have never once been curious to see little gross out youtube videos no matter how many people have watched them, or told me I have to see it. There's something else that I can't quite put my finger on that makes me want to watch disturbing imagery, it's not just curiosity. I tried to explain it to my bf once, but failed miserably. Maybe he just doesn't get it, I don't know. I just genuinely like to feel uncomfortable and he doesn't know why anyone would enjoy that. Feeling scared, adrenaline etc. is understandable, but not wanting to feel all icky.

I completely understand where you're coming from. The difference between Human Centipede and Two Girls One Cup is huge. The first is fake and the second one (if I heard correctly, I refuse to watch it) is real. No matter how good the special effects, you can always tell the difference. Compare the pressure chamber scenes in Philosophy Of A Knife (completely fake) and Men Behind The Sun (a real corpse was put into a pressure chamber with sickening results) and you might get an idea of what I mean.

TypH 05-30-2010 10:01 AM

to be honest for me, I could really careless about this movie, the overall idea an concept of this movie just dumb, sure it's "Original" I guess...but I don't want stupid original movies I want to see some good original movies..this movie just seems like someone with to much free time on ther hands an there head up there own ass..really haha

endo 05-30-2010 06:29 PM

I want to check it out just because it sounds different. Maybe a slightly ridiculous premise, but I've seen worse.

I was going to check it out with On Demand, but decided I'd wait and get it cheaper through NetFlix when it's available.
Actually, I'm really looking forward to seeing it. I won't judge it until I see it. It may be a great, twisted flick.

TheWickerFan 06-01-2010 05:09 PM

Finally saw this movie. Hardly the "most disturbing movie" CNN said it was, but gruesome nonetheless. I enjoyed it.

Horrorbiz6 06-01-2010 07:06 PM

human centipede
