Top Evil Plants

These are my favorite horror films with plants that do bad things:
The Ruins
Evil Dead
Dr. Terror's House Of Horrors -"The Creeping Vine"
Poltergeist
The Happening (even though they remain stationary)
The Day Of The Triffids

With all the horrible and unnecessary remakes out there these days, why has nobody remade Day Of The Triffids? All they need to do is be faithful to John Wyndham's classic novel, and make the Triffids a bit more menacing than they were in the 1962 original. Has anyone seen either of the mini-series based on this story?

Not even a mention of Little Shop of Horrors?

I own Dr. Terrors House of Horrors. As bad as it is it's good. I vote for that one.

The 80's miniseries was really really good (though I've not read the book) - well worth watching...The recent one was pretty bad (though I still kinda enjoyed it)

TheWickerFan 04-28-2010 02:06 AM

Yes, I should've at least mentioned Little Shop Of Horrors.
The Guardian did have an evil baby-eating tree, but it was a terrible movie.

AMICUS HORROR 04-28-2010 05:20 AM

Mutations, a nice little chiller were people were kidnapped and turned into plants by Donald pleasence and Tom Baker and I may be scrapping the barrow here, the Wizard of Oz and Creepshow.

TheWickerFan 04-28-2010 07:52 AM

The alien moss from "The Lonesome Death Of Jordy Verrill" in Creepshow was a great pick too.
I suppose the Red Weed from War Of The Worlds is also worth mentioning.

The BBC remade this and screened in Christmas 09. You can catch one of the earlier incarnations free on blinkbox which is well worth a look.

Always enjoyed watching Goosebumps and Are You Afraid Of The Dark with the children when they were younger. I just remembered the Goosebumps episode Stay Out Of The Basement.http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...nt_Cover_2.jpg

Yeah xD

I'm the only person in my age group I know who even knows of 90% of the movies I watch. I'm only 21 xD But I've seen 100s of them, Leprechaun had a plant theme at first but it disappeared after a few movies. & It wasn't big enough a theme to include imo

Didnt some of the children of the corn films have killer cornfields?

Oh man, I'm old enough to be your mother (way to bum me out:()

From what I've seen there are a lot of people around your age on this forum (I definitely feel like a senior citizen around here).

Not sure. I remember He Who Walks Behind The Rows traveled through the cornfields like a gopher, but I'm not familiar with the sequels.

That ended up in the Top Evil Food list, but you're right; it should have been in this list too.http://veganpotluck.files.wordpress....matoattack.jpg
