Some older films are better than some newer films.
Some newer films are better than some older films.

it really depends on what you watch. because some of the new can be good and some of the old films can be really good too.
so it definitly depends.

"better" is such a subjective term that I'm afraid you will find no evidence to support a paper. You might want to rethink this.

Are you making a distinction between independent and major studio films? Between foriegn language and domestic?

As the others stated, some older films are amazing and some suck. The same with contemporary.

Surely its about how well the director portrayed the vision within the constraints of the time the film was made, how groundbreaking it was for its time and the reactions of audiences at the time of release, rather than simply comparing the films.

im basing my paper on The wolfman films the 1931 1941 2007 and 2010 in comparison to the twilight saga and why its all about vampirism at the moment.

Hmmm...the Twilight Saga-I believe you can be shot down in flames on here for mentioning those films in the same breath as the word Horror. :D But do get what you are saying. Will you be considering the source maaterial for Both the Wolfman and Twilight? An interesting slant may also be to consider the differences in attitudes between men and women to both subjects too.

Now you may be on to something there, I like the idea of male and female perspectives and how movies these days have been targeting more gender specific audiences.

Honestly, the mere mention of The Twilight Saga nearly caused me to drop this subject all together.

It would in that case be interesting to consider the origin,mythology and symbology behind the two different subjects. As this may give you answers to the differing (and I know I am really generalising here) attitudes in relation to gender and also ?age.
Just read a history of the gothic from its origins to its effect on modern media. It was a brilliantly informative, if slightly heavy read but it may be useful. Will try to find it out so you can have the IBSN Number if you would like.

I've always been annoyed with the whole "ALL new horror movies suck", because you usually looks ignorant and it is usually said by people who don't look all that deep for movies. There are plenty of independent and foreign horror movies that are enjoyable. Hell, some of my favorite movies have never made it to the big screen.

I've always said this about literature, movies, books, and such: Look below the surface and you might find something you like.
