Night of the Living Dead

One of my personal favorites.
Does anyone know If the black guy that was in it made any more movies? He was great in that, and I thought it was awesome to have him play a lead in that movie, especially in a horror film in the 50's... if you know what I'm getting at.
*I'm still pissed they shot him*

He died in 1988.

RIP Duane Jones

I love that movie also. When my sisters and I were young I used to tease my baby sis, cause her name was BARBARA . I'm 4 yrs older than her, and I was REALLY good at scaring the living hell out of her!:) I even like the remake! I really like how they change the end so that Barbara gets even with the jerk that causes the death of the black guy(Tony Todd in the remake). I prefer the newer ending because I am soooooooo vengeful at heart! :D Don't get me wrong tho, the classics are still the coolest, especially Night of the Living Dead, It was one of my earliest experiences with the genre (but not my first, I still haven't found out the name of that one).

MAN! Avenger, how does someone that's just over half my age know so damn much about this sh*t? You even got me on some of the movies that ya know about. BRAVO :D

Well my fellow spook fan, and my fellow Peorian (I was born and raised in Peoria, then I lived in East Peoria for 16 years where i raised my children til a year and a half ago, then we moved down here between Quincy, IL and Hannibal, MO)!

In my opinion, Night Of The Living Dead is the greatest zombie film ever made. Period. :)

roguesblight 10-18-2003 11:48 PM

Absolutely! When I was a wee lass that movie scared the crap right out of me! Of course I'm older now and have seen so many horror films that it's harder to scare me now! But I wait...... hoping that someday.....

Ulyaoth 10-28-2003 06:12 AM

Easily one of the best zombie movies ever, though Dawn of the Dead takes the cake imo. Pity that there's only one actually good DVD out for it (Elite), the rest bloody terrible.

Double pity that the black guy got such terrible roles afterwards. Just goes to show you how fickle Hollywood is.

Zombie horror doesn't get much better than the trowel scene, especially when you consider that romero didn't have that much zombie mythos to work from, if any. Making the child a zombie was a genius touch.

"I hurt."

Anchor Bay put out a pretty good DVD edition of this too.

They also released another version with extra footage that was shot a couple years ago. The added footage sucks big time but the transfer is incredible.

Voorhees 10-30-2003 08:34 AM

For your information, they sell Night of the living dead for only 4,99 pounds at www.play.com

shane diablo 10-30-2003 08:39 AM

is that the same as 4 dollars and 99 cents american?

Voorhees 10-30-2003 08:43 AM

I would guess so:) You could buy 3 movies for a special offer of 12,99. They had another horror-movie at 4,99 too.

Sick_As_Fuck 10-30-2003 09:14 PM

Unfortuantely I've yet to see the original. Loved the 80's remake though.

I you loved the remake (it was 1990 by the way) you will definitely dig the original. It will surprise you.

MichaelMyers 10-31-2003 03:11 PM

That's a great price for a great movie. I recommend it highly, the whole black and white feature makes it scarier, in my opinion.

I agree! But there were some things about the remake that I liked. Like how Barbara got even! I really love revenge! Also....Michael Myers....I love your avatar! That is one of my all time favorite movies.

Night of the Living Dead

OK, did anyone else think they totally fucked up the ending of the original, in the remake? It was completely different! I guess I like (kind of) the remake. But,... it's just too different.

Why would they want to make the exact same film though?

PsychoticPanda 01-24-2004 01:13 PM

True. But, i've seen remakes that weren't as different, and still were good. They took the 60's classic, and remade it into another early 90's B-rated horror movie. It's okay, though.

The Night of the Living Dead remake isn't that much different either. They just changed it around the end, which was a nice surprise.

Now the Psycho remake on the other hand....

ButcheredCorpse 01-24-2004 02:47 PM

I personally think Night of the Living Dead , the revised version, is a little bit better than the original. Especially with the make-up and color. They knew what they were doing when they made the film. Oh and the ending does kick ass too. This is one of those rare cases when I say 'f*ck the original version!' ;)

PsychoticPanda 01-24-2004 03:45 PM

The original was alright. Worth buying, I guess. Given the fact that I like early 90's B-rated horror movies. :)

They're just so funny. I guess the reason why the remake didn't scare me, is cause I've seen so many other movies like it, and sort of think of them as comedies now. I didn't like that they changed up the ending, but I was kind of dissapointed the first time I saw the original, and Barbera died. Because it kind of started out with her. And I didn't like that the Candyman turned into a zombie at the end of the remake.

The original scared me, because I saw it at night, and black and white movies are creepy. At the moment, anyway. They have no after effect to me.

Well, the original scared me, too, I guess. Because right after it, I watched half of The Shining, then went to bed. :)

Original Night Of The Living Dead is great although it has to grow on you like Psycho. The Anniversary version with added scens was a nice idea but failed. The remake was excellent and the one I watch the most. I hope the remake of Dawn is as good.

freddy69 02-04-2004 04:33 PM

orangestar 02-08-2004 05:44 PM

I catagorically refuse to see the remake...but I admit seeing Tony Todd be a zombie would be ace :D

PsychoticPanda 02-09-2004 05:23 PM

Yeah. The original is great.

"They're coming to get you, Barbera". I love that line. :D
