What is your favorite Rob Zombie movie?
I liked HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES. Although I would have to say that his remake of HALLOWEEN is my favorite so far. I do like all of Zombies movies.

House of 1000 Corpses by leaps and bounds.

I just read the "Seventh Seal" in your sig as "Steven Segal". Was brutally happy for one precious second.
|
1) The Devil's Rejects
2) House of 1000 Corpses Big gap 3) Halloween (2007) 4) The Haunted World of El Superbeasto and Halloween II |

I can honestly say that I'm not Rob Zombies biggest fan, but he does add some spice to his movies like Devil's Reject or House of 1000's Corpses which wasn't too bad.
|
I didn't mind House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, but I didn't think they were all that special.
Definitely worth watching though. |
definently The Devil's Rejects

I need to give The Devil's Reject another try. I have a hard time with exploitation flicks - I think I'll enjoy it more now that I know what to expect. I actually thought that House of 1000 Corpses was absolutely brilliant. |
Thats a hard one....I LOVE everything Rob Zombie does...but I would say The Devils Rejects
|
None of them
|
The devils rejects is the only one that's worth your time IMO
|
I love all his flicks but The Devil's Rejects is my favorite closely followed by House of 1000 Corpses and Halloween II.
I was a bit disappointed with El Superbeasto. Fuck the haters Zombie is one of the best modern horror directors IMO. |
I guess I'm the only one who prefers his first Halloween. I agree it wasn't necessary, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.
I really need to revisit House though because I haven't seen it since it first came out. |
I think Halloween was fucking horrid and a complete waste of time. Not only was it an unnecessary remake, but it even felt badly made. As if Rob Zombie was expecting people to dis it and didn't even try to make it halfway decent.
|
The Halloween remake was a lot better than the majority of the recent remakes (& the majority of the sequels). I really don't get the hate for it.... especially since the dumbed down Dawn of the Dead remake gets so much praise.

House of 1,000 Corpses closely followed by The Devil's Rejects.
I'm a big Rob Zombie fan, both musically and in terms of his films but for me both Halloween films have been a huge disappointment. They are worse than the original films and come across as pretty generic slasher films. They don't even seem to have that sadistic Rob Zombie humour I've became so fond of. I hope he stops remaking Halloween at 2 because he adds nothing to the series. |
To be fair what did any of the sequels offer that was new? Aside from Halloween III which was going to take the series on a different trip completely.
|
House of 1000 corpses.
|
|
Nice to see someone else liked Halloween II! I thought it was fuckin' killer.
|
Here my rankings of his movies.
1.The Devils Rejects(love this movie) 2.Halloween(He did a fantastic job on this) 3.House of a 1000 Corpses(It was good but I thought the ending was stupid) 4.Halloween II(This was a huge let down) Havent seen Superbeasto. |
Thanks for all the replys.

Its funny how bi-polar the responses are when 'horror fans' talk about Rob Zombie or Eli Roth...(its actually a little restraint here)...
Why do you reckon that is? I always feel the ppl who seem to hate either director actually delike tehir fans alot more. Remaking a classic with Halloween of course hadn't done Zombie's cause much good but I feel ppl still had this attitude when he had only 2 films under his belt.. |
They all fit into the "cool to hate" category just like complaining about remakes. People just like to bring it up to get some cred when talking to horror fans.
They were both hyped as the saviours of modern horror a few years back too which fucked a lot of people off when they were disappointed in the films. Zombie copped a lot of shit for doing the crossover from musician to director. People just seemed to think he had no business doing that. I've noticed a lot of similar backlash in regards to Tarantino aswell. But yeh there's no real middle ground is there? |
House is my fav hands down. I remember right after Freddy Vs Jason there was this rumor about a movie being made where the Firefly family moves into a house next door to the Hewitt family. i thought this idea was fucking awesome but i also knew it would never happen

First, that kind of animated aesthetic doesn't really appeal to me, but I can definitely see the point and the influence of something like Fritz the Cat. While it might not be something that I choose to see again, I can definitely see the underlying themes (that one in particular I thought was a pretty horrifying depiction of society; I was more disturbed by the violence than by the porn in it, which I thought made it a very smart film)... With El Superbeasto it's definitely out of context; I look at something like that and think, what's the point? I mean, I can understand wanting to make an homage to a genre that you appreciate, but I don't think that El Superbeasto was anything other than vulgar, repulsive, and pointless... And I don't even have particularly delicate sensibilities. Quote:
With the Halloween movies, I can see what he's trying to do, but ultimately I don't think that they work. Halloween wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't a remake. For me, personally, I adore the original movie and I don't think that it was necessary to give Michael Myers a motive or peer into his psyche. I like him as just a pure monster... If Zombie was creating a New Monster; a New Serial Killer, I think that the first movie would have been pretty good. It was a decent slasher, and for those who enjoy looking into the background and psyche of the killer, it's right up your alley. As for the second film, it's not so much that I don't "get" what he was doing; I just didn't like it. I thought that the visions and symbolism were a bit silly, to tell you the truth. Even taking that one autonomous from its original, I wouldn't have enjoyed it... Which is odd; I thought that Zombie excelled with House of 1000 Corpses but failed with Halloween II. It's also a shame because I thought that the open 10 minutes or so of Halloween II in the hospital were bloody brilliant horror... I really wish that the movie had been straight up slasher just like that... But it's clearly not what he wanted to accomplish. |
I own the Devil's rejects (2005), House of 1000 corpses (2003), Halloween (2007) I really liked all three of those movies, although I'd have to say that Halloween was the best one of those three, I have seen it atleast a hundred times before. I seen Halloween II (2009) and had not seen the original Halloween II (1981) although I should. I really liked some parts of Halloween II
for instance: Pros: 1) The child who replaces that ugly kid from the original remake of Halloween (2007) who looks more like the original Michael Myers as a child from John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) 2) Laurie Strode's new attitude and the was she dresses through out the movie. 3) Michael Myers new brutal kills (in the original halloween movies michael myers always killed his victims with a lunge stab rather than throwing his weight into his stabs, throwing his weight into the stabs helped with more climatic killing scenes which made me enjoy this movie a whole lot more). cons: 1) Dr. Samuel Loomis's behaviour throughout the movie, he's now a snarky best selling author. 2) Laurie Strode's reaction to finding out that she is Michael Myers's surviving baby sister, Angel Myers. 3) Michael Myers walking around the state without a mask and a giant scruffy rat's nest for a beard, gross. That is all. ^^; |
Tough choice, I'm going to have to say the Unrated Remake of Halloween. I wasn't a fan of the second one, I thought the whole story line got effed up. The reason I picked this film is the way Zombie portrayed Michael, Had a great huge guy play him, that to me is what made this film is how big he was, just plain old creepy. Second choice would have to be The Devils Rejects, I love the character Otis.

His movies keep getting progressively worse IMO. Halloween 2 was garbage.
|
The Devil's Reject is one my choice. Its more coherent than House Of A 1,000 Corpses, more savage than Halloween the remake, more original than Halloween Part 2.I felt the acting was superb here, intense and disturbing performances by Sid Haig and Bill Moseley, and the sizzling eye candy being Sherri Moon Zombie.Zombie's direction was first rate here, the writing was decent, and the very much liked the ending.:)
|
House of 1000 Corpses, classic!
|
hhmmm hard 1, like most people its halloween or devils rejects, ill say devils rejects :),anyone seen el superbeasto?

Got: 1) House of 1000 Corpses 2003 2) The Devil's Rejects 2005 3) Rob Zombie's Halloween 2007 4) Rob Zombie's Halloween II 2009 I really don't know if there are any other movies he's produced thus far. n_n; |
I generally hate remakes with a passion but his remake of Halloween was really great! Overall though I would say House of 1000 Corpses is his best movie to date.
