Secret dislikes or pleasures...

What are some of the things that you've always hated, or liked that wouldn't seem "cool" around other horror fans.

Myself...

I never did like Army of Darkness. Evil Dead 1 and 2 I loved! But for some reason never liked Army of Darkness.

I feel the same way about the Hellraiser series.

I also think that Dario Argento is highly over rated.

um... I'm sure there's more. How about everyone else??

i hate all of rob zombie's movies with a passion

goatofmendes 01-29-2010 05:21 PM

I totally agree! The Beyond is horrible as well.

The Blob is going to be so bad...

goatofmendes 01-29-2010 06:00 PM

Even though I'm not a big fan of the remakes, I'm pretty curious about Don't be afraid of the dark. The original was awesome. And I would love to se a remake of Let's scare Jessica to death.

I secretly love the show "Jersey Shore".

ferretchucker 01-31-2010 05:14 AM

I thought Friday the 13th [original] was quite dull and boring. And Jason in the sequels is too much like Michael.

Doc Faustus 01-31-2010 09:00 AM

I still hate Citizen Kane. Hated even more last time I saw. Will hate it more next time.

Agreed. Never understood it's appeal.

Dante'sInferno 01-31-2010 12:32 PM

I like the show Grey's Anatomy.

I'm with ya on this one. That show is funny shit. It's been canceled :( but Snookie and the Situation are rumored to get dating shows. :)

Really? Last I heard they were canceling it because of all that Unico, Italian American stereotyping jazz. Lucky us I guess, and the rest of the world can just go on complaining about them.

goatofmendes 01-31-2010 05:55 PM

Does anyone but me also think the Carrie was a horrible movie?

Doc Faustus 02-01-2010 03:18 PM

I think of it as a weak adaptation with some good performances.

In the pleasure category, I'd like to stand up for Glee. It's smart, often very dark, deals with atypical high school kids and has a great cast including Jane Lynch in the best role she's been given yet. Also, it brings some much needed spectacle back to television.

Elvis_Christ 02-01-2010 03:48 PM

I don't have any secret pleasures/dislikes. I like and hate what I want and could give a shit if I lose "cred" or whatever. Most of the flicks I like people hate (esp. the 80s action stuff).

friday13thfan 02-01-2010 04:01 PM

Night of the Living Dead....Just cant seem to like it. I know thats like a sin but I jsut cant get into it at all.

Laura6 02-01-2010 04:31 PM

I also hate Suspiria and Evil Dead

But I LOVE everything Rob Zombie does!!!

I'm a big fan of his flicks

goatofmendes 02-01-2010 05:43 PM

I loved the movie "The Cure" with Brad Renfro.

Not for Michael Keaton :)

Doc Faustus 02-03-2010 10:27 AM

Michael Keaton wouldn't last a day in the cage.

Dante'sInferno 02-03-2010 01:53 PM

I have not watched one full episode of The Soprano's but I want to.

Oh, on topic posts. I almost forgot what they looked like.

I secretly hate The Sopranos and Entourage. I also hate comedy politics shows like Colbert Report, and to a lesser extent, The Daily Show.

Elvis_Christ 02-03-2010 02:05 PM

Meh.... Sons of Anarchy is way better than The Sopranos

Elvis_Christ 02-03-2010 02:10 PM

I hate watching sport.

Doc Faustus 02-04-2010 06:24 PM

It's funny, I was thinking of actually posting a Yakov Schmirnoff game, where we attempt to find the oddest in Soviet Russia reversal.
In Soviet Russia, excrement makes dogs!

I agree, though I can't tell whether or not you're being sarcastic. :o

I also secretly love Lady GaGa. There I said it.

Definitely agreed. I also find the following incredibly overrated:
  • Nightmare on Elm Street
  • Candyman
  • Hellraiser - Can't STAND this film. It should have just been about the Cenobites and that is all.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 02-06-2010 01:51 PM

it really is my favorite show. :D

X2 i hate how all these jerk offs have to put there GF or wifes in, Kevin smith Judd apatow ROB FUCKING ZOMBIE i feel its pretentious. It gets to the point where you have the same cast for 4 or 5 movies in a row. So...................
Dear Rob,
if you are reading this put Sheri moon back in her kennel, fill up her water dish walk back inside and not try to remake anything not even a taco from last night.

Love Drew.

I agree. He is a talentless wanker. He is like that certain band. Who everyone has to say they like. out of fear of being ostracized by their fellow music lovers.
He should have just stuck to making. His little indie films. Because when he tries to do remakes of the classic. It is so easy to compare him to the greats.

goatofmendes 02-06-2010 08:35 PM

Here about a month ago, I won tickets to see Rob Zombie from a radio station. I was trying to decide if I even wanted to go... I like the old white zombie stuff and the first Rob Zombie album, but after these movies and all of this shitty music I didn't want to go.

But, my wife and I decided to go because we didn't have anything else to do. I looked up some clips on youtube and he was horrible and out of breath half of the time. But the show was actually really good! He was in shape and put on a really good show. I was surprised!

But the Blob? Really? haha come on...

Doc Faustus 02-08-2010 08:42 AM

I think he was smart and the fans let him get stupid.

Laura6 02-09-2010 03:04 PM

I love everything that Eli Roth and Rob Zombie make...

I do not "love" Nightmare on Elm Street...Wes Craven gets on my nerves

I think "The Thing" is John Carpenters best movie ever !!

Those are not really secrets I guess...but the Roth and RZ thing usually gets me yelled at!

Elvis_Christ 02-09-2010 06:01 PM

Who doesn't like NOTLD '90? its a fucking great flick. They should let Savini direct more.

Here here. Only problem is the version i've got has Spanish Subs encoded....:(
My brothers got it on Vhs though.
My secret pleasure atm is The Office for some reason.............I have been smoking alot of pot!

ChronoGrl 02-10-2010 02:58 PM

I don't really like Giallo cinema. Giallo films that I've watched and found tedious and loud:
  • Suspira (although at times it's beautiful I admit)
  • Tenebre
  • Don't Torture a Duckling
  • House by the Cemetery
  • Lizard in Women's Skin

So I've tried. I can say that I've TRIED. But they just don't click for me. By that token I also did not care for Cemetary Man.

...

Though oddly enough I loved Fulci's Zombie II.
