Killers people seem to forget

These 4 killers everyone seems to forget
1. Chucky
2. Pennywise
3. Hellraiser
4. Ghostface
:(

Doc Faustus 12-28-2009 09:06 PM

These are all insanely popular characters and very mainstream. Expand your horizons, man.

jasonfreak 12-29-2009 06:36 AM

IDK I mean people wouldnt consider hellraiser a killer or ghostface. I think when people think of horror movie killers they remember only 4
1.Jason
2.Micheal
3.Freddy
4.Leatherface

But it might not be one of the "more popular" ones you listed either. That list is basically just a list of more iconic horror movie killers. They made a huge impact on the way we interpret horror today, and the kind of movies that are made presently, so they will forever be in the front of people's minds when they think about horror.

Even then, it all depends who you are asking. Ask a random kid at the theater who their favourite horror movie killer is and they might say "Jigsaw is totally cool, cause, like, he's deep and he really thinks things through. So epic man!" If you ask some of the old folks around here who their favourite killer is they might tell you it's Frankenstein, or "Dracula. Specifically Christopher Lee in The satanic Rites of Dracula". Everyone's different.

He would have been had MySpace loaded.

roshiq 12-29-2009 10:03 PM

More often people usually remember the killers very well and like to forget about the victims. So I think it'd be bit interesting to see how many memorable or likable victims there are in horror films who died in a 'fashionable' or memorable way or had an interesting character to talk about.

Tatum Riley's death by boobs that are too big in Scream is the only one that comes to mind.

neverending 12-29-2009 10:22 PM

Really? Those are the only interesting victims you can think of?

Father Karras in The Exorcist?
Billie Whitelaw, the nanny in The Omen?

Just the first 2 that come to mind.

neverending 12-29-2009 10:27 PM

Mina in Dracula?

The little girl in Frankenstein?

This is Horror.com. Most, if not everyone here, either knows about these characters or have seen one, if not all of the movies these big screen villains have starred in.

Well, he accidentally shot himself quite often and how long has it been since he's made an appearance in anything? So... Most likely.

jasonfreak 12-30-2009 07:43 AM

Already done. Marion Crane won.

neverending 12-30-2009 09:49 AM

Well, that's kind of similar. We weren't talking about rating the effectiveness of a particular scene, how grizzly or "cool" their death "scene" was, but the characters themselves. Who we considered to be worthwhile and interesting characers that ended up dying, as opposed to the countless fodder, the thousands of deaths that occur in horror films that are just there, basically, as a prop, to be used and discarded.

There's a qualitative difference between the likes of Father Karras, Marion Crane or Ben, than say "that one scene in that one movie- you know, the gross one."

Hmm...that sounds very interesting. Certainly there are plenty of wonderful nominees for such an idea.

But this continuous lack of traffic all year makes me doubt we will get any voters for yet another tourney. See what's happened to the 60s one? Methinks the tourney horse has been beaten to death. (hence my hanging up the boots not too long ago)

Frankly I am short of ideas right now to increase the traffic to this place.
