The forums have been upgraded!

- Post New Thread.
- Profile pages - own and others.
- User Control Panel - includes : new "Networking" section, "Profile Privacy", etc.

This is the latest vBulletin 3.7.0 version.
The dampener for now - we are stuck with the same color scheme as before.
I dont see anything else.
Maybe Horror will enumerate on the new version tomorrow morning.
See if you can find any more changes.

ferretchucker 07-14-2009 06:56 AM

I want the new colour scheme! :(

VampiricClown 07-14-2009 06:58 AM

There is a new box that says "Tags" and "Edit Tags", at the bottom of every page, right above the quick-reply.

Also, there is a new "Friend Request" option, and a gallery option which wasn't there before. At least not visible.

_____V_____ 07-14-2009 07:00 AM

That is to tag any important thread (or important thread to someone) with a keyword/keywords so that its easier to find the thread through the Search function later.
...I think.

I guess we will find out.

Anyone want to give it a shot?

newb 07-14-2009 07:04 AM

I don't notice any difference......same ole same ole

ChronoGrl 07-14-2009 07:14 AM

There's also "Post Visitor Message" from within someone's profile - Just tested it with Newb's... Looks like a mini forum post within the profile page. Interesting... Useful if the PM box is full I guess.

_____V_____ 07-14-2009 07:15 AM

Yes. Especially good for short reminder type messages.
I left one with Flayed's profile as a test.

Ooooooooooo. Good call. I'm going to harass Wolfie about the HDC package 2.0. ;)

_____V_____ 07-14-2009 07:19 AM

Glad I bailed out of that one at the last second.
Errr, on second thoughts, if we are talking about panties and wet T-shirts, count me in. :)

User Control Panel aka User CP ---> Edit Options ---> Visitor Messaging System.
I dont think you get notifications for that, but it helps if you checked your profile regularly. :)

Let's hope so!

I also had to smile a bit at that post. In the superhero story, my character is Gabriel Fret.

VampiricClown 07-14-2009 07:49 AM

Another question. Maybe this is a dumb one, but what is the "Social Groups" option? What does it do exactly?

_____V_____ 07-14-2009 08:04 AM

That is to create a "community within a community" of sorts.
Say, you, Ferret, Chrono, Newb and Dante decide to form a group. One of you becomes the group leader and forms the group.
Others become members in it.
You can add your pictures from your album to your group, post in a messaging system to each other within the group, privatise your group etc.
Think of it as forming a Club, per se.

ferretchucker 07-14-2009 08:10 AM

Don't know if I'll use the social groups one. At least, not yet. If it starts catching on and there seems like a good reason for then I might.

I suppose it could be good for commitees of Judges.

That's actually a pretty good idea. That might help some of the stuff that's been tried, but failed. One comes to mind at the moment.

VampiricClown 07-14-2009 09:22 AM

Other addition:

New "Quick Reply" for private messages

urgeok2 07-15-2009 06:07 AM

i got some friend requests - what do they do exactly ?

newb 07-15-2009 06:16 AM

How can I get wine stains off my carpet.

Approve them, and they make you and the other person mutual friends. You both show in each other's profiles as friends.

You cant. Burning it is the only solution.

That would make me.....a carpet-muncher. :D

Paul the Monk 07-15-2009 09:43 AM

Looks all the same to me except for those small tweaks mentioned earlier! Maybe I am missing something big!:(

_____V_____ 07-15-2009 11:22 AM

Click on User/CP and see if you have pending Friends' requests, Paul.
That's how you check if someone has added (or not added) you to their friends' list.
Once you approve them, both of you can be seen in each other's profiles.

GorePhobia 07-15-2009 11:53 PM

I don't know if anyone noticed but as I was browsing the forum in the Showdown thread the forum turned into the new color theme or what not. It made a lot of things bigger such as the text and what not.

_____V_____ 07-15-2009 11:55 PM

Thats because ElGato is online right now and is testing the new color scheme for compatibility with this new vBulletin version.

Oh alright I wasn't sure. Just wanted to see if anyone else saw what I saw.

:)

New Forum Style/Color added!

On the main page of the forums :-

http://www.horror.com/forum/

Log in, and scroll down right to the bottom.

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g12/ravenavi/1.gif

Under the Current Active Users, Statistics, and times in GMT and current time, look to the left for a small Choice Box with a Drop-down menu.

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g12/ravenavi/2.gif

You have a choice of styles - Ambience (current default light grey), and horror (main page color/style scheme)

Select "horror".

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g12/ravenavi/333.gif

Voila!

And if you dont like the new "horror" style and want the old "Ambience" look back,
go to your USER/CP and click on "Edit Options".
From there, scroll right down to the Miscellaneous Options section.

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g12/ravenavi/4-1.gif

Choose "Ambience", and click on "Save Changes". You have the old look back again.

The choice is yours, HDC. Enjoy.

GorePhobia 07-16-2009 12:56 AM

I actually really like the new color style. The only think I wish is that the width of the threads were a bit smaller. It kind of seems a bit stretched out. Like the text seems a bit larger but other then that I think it is pretty awesome.

monalisa 07-16-2009 02:36 AM

I think it is so great that we get to choose which style we want to use! Great work to all involved. Lookin' good! :)

hammerfan 07-16-2009 03:59 AM

And the new color scheme goes so well with my sig! :D

The_Return 07-16-2009 04:07 AM

I like it! The old one was good, but this is a marked improvement.

Cool that we get to choose though - I'm sure some will prefer to use the old one.

alkytrio666 07-16-2009 05:12 AM

Wow- very cool! I'm a big fan already.

_____V_____ 07-16-2009 05:23 AM

Yep, same.
Don't know about the rest of you but I am really digging this new style.

Papillon Noir 07-16-2009 05:54 AM

I like the new style, but I'll have to stick with the old one at work, as it blends in much better and doesn't look like i'm goofing off so much. :p

ferretchucker 07-16-2009 06:23 AM

How did the test go?

"Hey, Horror.com. So, I just found out I have a new colour scheme. You should probably get yourself tested..."

You're welcome :p

I really like the new one too. This is strange though. A big change like that, and very little conflict. I suppose it's down to it being optional (very good idea).

Dante'sInferno 07-16-2009 06:34 AM

This new style is sexy. :)
