The Great HDC Showdown

Good Morningggggggggg and Welcome, HDC!

This is the first ever HDC Showdown. All of you have been following the teaser thread for the past 3 days (and nights) now and have a pretty fair idea of how this works. In case you are a newbie, I ll put the rules out again :-

1 - Each HDC participant in this Showdown has been sent a format and asked to list NINE of his favorites in it.

2 - Each favorite of the HDCian (pertaining to movies, books, games and music) will be pitted in a Showdown against the favorite of TWO other HDCians. It will be a run to 5 - the first one to 5 votes will win the Showdown. The participants involved in the Showdown can also cast in their own votes too.

3 - The winning favorite earns 1 point, ergo +1. The losing favorites lose 1 point, ergo -1.

4 - All points are added up on the leaderboards, which will be displayed ONCE after every NINE Showdowns.

5 - At the end of all Showdowns, we will find our first official HDC SHOWDOWN WINNER.

6 - Updated Grid alongwith the chosen categories of contestants will be posted at the end of each match, for one of you to make the next set of choices.

7 - Whoever is online when the Grid is posted, is eligible to post his/her choice of category PLUS his/her choice of opponents for that category chosen. IN CASE the said person does NOT want to be a part of the Showdown then, he/she may choose to sit out their Showdown and name THREE others who will duke it out between themselves.

8 - A choice once chosen and ending up either winning/losing a Showdown, CANNOT be chosen again. This ensures all other choices AND all other participants a fair chance of gaining some points too.

9 - In case of any conflict/misunderstanding, PM me pointing it out, and I will look into it before finalising a solution/decision. You are free to indulge in ribbing and gentle nudging your opponents, as well as cheering for your choices (which you MUST!), but PLEASE dont degrade the thread into arguments, bickering and fights. Just sit back, and enjoy the ride!

So...without further ado...HERE WE GO!

THE HDC SHOWDOWN BEGINS NOW!!

Abbey Road, The Beatles

neverending 06-22-2009 08:35 AM

Haha- that's even my scan being used as the graphic.

The Naked Carmen
this updating of the Carmen opera as a rock/pop opera is one of the strangest unkonown albums of the 60s. Yes, it's THAT David Hess. Crazy pastiche of classical motifs interspersed with pop tunes, kazoo solos, recordings of Spiro Agnew and Melba Moore as the hippest Carmen ever makes this one of the greatest records ever.

Naked Carmen.

_____V_____ 06-22-2009 08:54 AM

The first Showdown is in the FAVORITE ALBUM category, and Neverending has challenged Chronogrl and Fortunato.

So far its 1-1-0, with Abbey Road & The Naked Carmen tied together in the lead.

More votes needed...let's see what HDC chooses for this Showdown.
