You don't really need to open a thread for every movie you watch. Use this one instead:

My Review Of 1408

crazy raplh 06-20-2009 06:48 AM

I thought it was great. I love John Cusak. The whole being trapped in the room and trippy stuff happening was cre[[y to me, but if I was him I would have chugged that whole bottle of burbon he had and hoped for the best :)

Roderick Usher 06-20-2009 08:50 AM

the movie was solid, ghosty fun.

serdarot 06-20-2009 09:03 AM

Yep. A rollercoaster of a movie but not quite a classic.

Zero 06-20-2009 11:58 AM

hmm - i'm with the 'utter crap' side of this debate. a classic example of how when filming Stephen King the first thing you have to do is jettison 90% of what is in the story and get down to the core basics, then rewrite with cinematic mentality (like Kubrick's shining or Reiner's Misery)

Horrortunes 06-24-2009 03:19 AM

Pretty OK movie...

Kemal 06-24-2009 05:01 AM

It was merely okay... not scary though. And I prefer the original ending.

And the story was much better. Very creepy.

urgeok2 06-24-2009 05:28 AM

the shining - in an urban hotel this time .. big whoop.

scouse mac 06-25-2009 03:43 AM

It started out well, the first half hour or so is really promising but it goes downhill pretty fast and the ending is crap. I wouldnt be quick to recommend it.

stenchofdeath 06-25-2009 04:52 AM

Yeah, i didn't think that it was fantastic, but i may hire it again just to refresh my memory of it. Maybe Samuel L Jackson should have said, " I dont know how many motherfuckin' times i have to say it , stay out of that motherfuckin' room!

Were there snakes in it? If not, he can't say that.

This movie was horrible. I've never seen Cusack give a bad performance until this movie. It was predictable, and cheesy.

Angelakillsluts 06-28-2009 09:05 PM

I loved it, everyone else I know thought it was boring. I just watched it again tonight, I think it's the scariest idea I've seen in quite awhile. On second watch you really see how the room is tormenting him, toying with his emotions etc. I didn't see a problem with the ending, nobody escapes the room alive and when he thought the room would take his ex-wife too, he sacrificed himself. If you paid attention to the relationship he had with his father aswell as why he left his wife, the ending is important and makes perfect sense.

It might be too depressing for some people, I guess maybe it's boring if you don't like drama. It doesn't really have scares, but I'm more of a fan of scary stories.

Where was his performance cheesy?

Abominus 06-30-2009 09:51 PM

I didn't find anything particularly terrible with the movie. I just found the absolute lack of tension and legitimate scares left me feeling bored.

I like Cusak but there was no saving the flick.

Zero 07-01-2009 03:13 AM

ok - can the fans of 1408 please explain why the 'workers destroying the post office scene' does not immediately launch the film deep into cheezylvania (and, in fact, into parmesiania, in the county of cheddar deep in the gooey heart of cheezylvania??!)

adamstubbs 07-11-2009 04:01 AM

I felt that the film was entertaining enough but it was just way too over the top.

HostelSaw 07-18-2009 09:36 PM

This was a huge disappointment to me.

MovieLover12 08-01-2009 06:00 PM

I really liked 1408. Samuel L Jackson is as good as he always is. :D
