Battletruck (aka Warlords Of The 21st Century)
This would have to rank among my favorite films made in NZ. Well overdue for a DVD release this is a great piece of the post apocalyptic genre. Michael Beck from The Warriors plays the tuff guy hero and perhaps the greatest NZ actor Bruno Lawrence plays one of the henchmen.
I see there is a release from FleshWoundVideo but I'm guessing its just a bootleg taken off the tape... http://www.fleshwoundvideo.com/Warlo...attletruck.jpg Any other fans of this one? |
Not sure if i've seen this one - they all kinda blur...
IS this the one where they're all after water instead of gas? |

Smash Palace and Bad Blood are two of my favorite NZ films. |

One that sticks out though is Warriors of the wasteland (The New barbarians) - its the only Mad Max rip off where the male hero is anally raped by a bunch of futuristic Templars :-) |
not a big fan of hero's getting raped...not very heroic. :p

Loved The New Barbarians, 2019: After The Fall Or New York is a ripper too. Think they come in a triple pack with 1990: The Bronx Warriors... really should look into grabbing it myself sometime. Have you seen Warrior of the Lost World with Robert Ginty and Donald Pleasence? Laughably bad but a fun watch, Ginty has a Knight Rider style motorbike that tells really lame jokes. Pleasence looks like Dr Evil in this one :D |
Yeah a have an old Vhs ex-rental of that..
Its a bad movie..lol Rome, 2072 A.D is pretty bad (or good as the case may be) Fulci's Rollerball rip off. More shite lol: http://www.affichescinema.com/insc_a...terceptors.jpg |
^^ fuck I have to see that! Looks like the kinda shit I live for :D
I'll have to grab that Fulci flick sometime. Might give this one a spin the next couple of days had it for ages put never got round to watching it: http://www.post-apocalypse.co.uk/202...hs%20front.jpg |
Jeez, what box art!
These kinds of movies are fun on a beer-soaked weekend. Definitely. |
Robert Ginty...havent heard that name in a long time. Gotta love the 80s!
http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/fi...dvds/853-1.jpg And they made a sequel to that too. |
The sequel was pretty bad. A few cool moments but none of what made the first film so great.

I think this might possibly be the greatest thread ever.
