The Action Scene Tournament
 

Of course, the original idea for this tourney comes from a certain abandoned "Fight Scene Tournament" run by The STE a long while back. Now that horror has enabled youtube embedding, I thought it would be really fun (and nostalgic) to go back and relive some of the wonderful moments in our favorite action movies, which made us love all those flicks from the late 70s, through the golden period of action - the 80s, the 90s...till now.


I am still open to suggestions here. 81 action scenes line up right now, but if we have more recs, this might be stretched to a slightly longer tournament.

All matches will be triple-threat, the first of which will be up shortly.

Fistful of Dollars

That Fistful of Dollars scene is just plain classic...can't see how anyone could vote against it.

Hulk deserves a bit of an honorable mention though - especially in a tournament based solely on fight scenes - if not just for the fact that the last half hour of the movie was nothing but an epic battle. Proof that when done well, CGI can be badass.

Still, Fistful has to get my vote. No question.

I'm voting for the Hulk and adding a funny anecdote. A few weeks ago when I went to the local comic shop there was a brand new window, and I giant 8 foot tall statue of the Hulk. I asked how he got it in there (knowing the answer but wanting to keep up the conversation) and he says "Well when he came in he was Bruce Banner"......

Then I walked over to pick up my copy of Fables 1 and ran into the Hulk's fist. How embarassing. The End.

I thought that would be the case. I might re-watch the original and check 'em out anyways seeing as I love a lot of "bad" cheesy action flicks these days.

Commando totally shoulda won the last match.

Suggestion: if the oldboy fight scene isnt in this by any chance, it should be, as well as Riki-Oh vs. Oscar, and the finale of Taken.

all are great fight scenes but Way of the Dragon is the classic one!


Recommendation: There were some cool fight scenes in the RAVEN tv series, I think some of them worth to be a part of this tourney.

Jet Li Dojo Scene.

Pioneering martial arts and classic imagery can't compete against that sort or elegant choreagraphy.
