Recomend Some Comedies

I just watched a absolute pile of dogs bollocks in Harold and Kumar #2....

I haven't had much luck finding good comedies the last few years, it feels like I've seen most of the classic comedies.. What can you horror experts recomend?

Something that is going to crack me up... ;)

Doc Faustus 01-31-2009 09:35 AM

Duck Soup, if you haven't seen it, Blazing Saddles, the Big Lebowski, It's a Living, the Bank Dick, the original Bedazzled, Lost Skeleton of Cadavra

Seen it, Seen it, Seen it, Seen it and seen it, thanks for the sugestions though, they are all top movies, The Life Aquatic was more of a good movie than one that made me laugh a lot.. It was very suttle.

To tell you the truth, comedies have SERIOUSLY fallen flat in the last few years...

In very recent years, movies that seriously cracked me up:
Zoolander
40-Year-Old Virgin
Blades of Glory
There's Something About Mary
Kung Fu Hustle
Clay Pigeons
Rushmore
The Royale Tenenbaums
Best In Show

Movies that had funny moments, but the parts were greater than the whole:
Anchorman
Step Brothers

My personal favorites of Woody Allen:
Love and Death
Sleeper
Take the Money and Run
Annie Hall
Mid Summer Night's Sex Comedy

Older Gems:
Bringing Up Baby
Animal Crackers
A Night at the Opera
Arsenic and Old Lace
Some Like It Hot

Ones you've probably seen (or if you haven't, you SHOULD):
Caddyshack
Young Frankenstein
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Animal House
The Princess Bride
The Jerk
Roxanne
Airplane!
Raising Arizona
This Is Spinal Tap
Ghostbusters
A Fish Called Wanda
Groundhog Day
Scrooged
Austin Powers

Television that I find HILARIOUS
The Office (British)
The Office (American)
Arrested Development
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

I could post hundreds of comedies I really enjoyed but instead I'll tell you that if I was going home right now to watch a comedy, I'd pop in one of three movies. Kung Pow!, Tommy Boy, or Mallrats

Oh, well, you're very WELCOME, Step, it's my pleasure! Gee, no need to flatter me like that, but it will get you EVERYWHERE.

:p

Halfpastundead 02-01-2009 10:31 AM

I recommend Run Ronnie Run from the guys of Mr Show. It's brilliantly funny. Also, Kids in the Hall Brain Candy is worth some great laughs.

Marroe 02-01-2009 09:18 PM

I just watched Pineapple Express and thought it was hystarical. Don't know if that's the type of comedy you're looking for though.

Leprucky Cougar 02-01-2009 09:21 PM

Any out of the Scary Movie series, tickle your fancy? And are you more of a comedy movie person or do you prefer standup? Who are your fave comedians? What kind of humor are you into? That should help us, help you. :)

bwind22 02-01-2009 09:55 PM

If you like Carlin, Denis Leary standup is always excellent. I'm a big fan of both.

Most of my suggestions have already been named...

Big Lebowski
Pineapple Express
Kung Fu Hustle
Super Troopers
Airplane!
The Naked Gun
Something About Mary
Dogma
Trainspotting

Disease 02-02-2009 02:27 AM

Yep, I think I know the problem, I've seen almost every funny movie ever made... But there are a few that have been sugested I wasn't aware of...

I'm not suprised no one has mentioned Life of Brian, it's well known...

Sideways was one big pile of horse shit on the other hand.

Now that its been pointed out, it makes sense. I confess to having my 'stating the bleedin' obvious' hat on.

Hot Fuzz is another good comedy (although if you hate sideways and i love it, maybe our tastes are different?)
