James Preston Rogers For Thor !

Had the pleasure of going on a photo assignment today.
The subject, the very personable, well spoken, very large, James Preston Rogers.

He's in a movie just released called Outlander (Vikings VS Aliens !)
and has had a few other irons in the fire as well.

As some of you know there is Talk of a new Marvel movie in the works : Thor

James is actively campaigning for the roll and if you ask me - he's a hell of a natural choice (the studio wants Brad Pitt for god sakes - I already know how most of you guys feel about that !!)

anyway - I get a chance to show off some pictures and do my little bit by saying - good luck James - for what it's worth - i'm rooting for you !

the guys arms are bigger than my head. I'm 6'2" by the way.... you'd never know it :)

he looks like Thor to me :

Go for it James!

Better'n Brad Pitt, sure...but doesn't scream Thor to me...bit of a forehead on him, I could see him cutting off the hair and making a pretty good Hammerhead.

That reminds me of a joke about Thor.
Thor decides to head on down to Earth and ?partake in mortal pleasures? so he hits up a bar, gets tanked on about 50 human beers, watches some sports, wins a few arm wrestles, having a lark.
Sees a young lady watching him over the hours, on her own...as the night goes on he switches his attention to her, of course she's good to go by that point too, so they head to a nearby hotel together.
They go at it for hours, then sleep 'til morning.
He's about to sneak out and sees her in the next room making breakfast.
Thinks it's the least he can do to sit and eat with her.
As he's about to leave he says
"By the way, I'm Thor."
She replies
"You're Thor?"
and goes on
"I can't even pith!"

boo...hiss

I can see this guy as Thor. He does have a bit of a forehead but nothing a wig can't cover.

Once again, I think we run into the Thor/Donald Blake problem. There needs to be a perceptible change between the two. This guy looks great for Thor, but maybe not for Blake. Two actors might still be a good solution. This guy still oozes thundergod.

I'd say he looks like a pretty good Thor. His forehead isn't anything the helmet wouldn't conceal. He's got my vote.

too ugly to portray a god

this guy is a pretty good looking guy - i dont think my picures did him justice.

the interview took place at my friends film school and the students got to meet him and have a chat ... the girls were all going gaga .. :)

very personable guy ... i dont think looks are gonna be this guys problem

He definitely looks the part.

Phalanx 01-25-2009 05:00 AM

I'd fight him

Supposedly, the movie is going to be set entirely in Asgard, only hinting at the modern-day stuff in the ending, to lead in to The Avengers.

Might cause a problem in the future...but as long as he has something as far as acting chops, I think he could easily pull off the first movie.

If Thor had been made 10 years ago, I'd have said Vladimir Kulich, but he may be a little long in the tooth now.

Here's the article at it appears online - i imagine its exactly the same in the printed paper out today... they gave Chris the credit for the photo - he was upset about that but i couldnt care less - i know who took it :)

His hair makes him look more like Lobo... different colors of course.

If they were to use Blake more in the second movie I wouldn't mind seeing him play Thor and Pitt playing Blake. But I'd be glad to see Pitt in any movie probably, so ignore me.
