Having F. Scott Fitzgerald as your source doesn't hurt either. I've never really liked the Oscars, just an ego stroke for the industry, from the industry.

i feel the same way ...

i do want mickey to win though - i know he is at a point in his life where that kind of recognition means he'll be in more good roles in the future.

for whatever the Oscars are SUPPOSED to be- instead of the political circle jerk they are - Mickey has deserved one for years

I really don't even watch that one anymore....a little here and there. I actually always thought of that one as a singing competition as opposed to these drama filled reality shows.

I'm pissed Revolutionary Road got completely ignored. Not safe enough for the picnic, I guess.

Gotta admit I was too. Leo's best work since Basketball Diaries (for me at least) and he gets majorly dissed.

Angra 01-22-2009 08:36 AM

I'm sure Leo will get an Oscar sooner or later.

Oh wait, hasn't he already won 1?

I loved The Dark Knight, but I could have told you months ago it wouldn't get a Best Picture nod- and I don't even know if it deserves one. It's a great superhero movie- leave it at that.

They nominated The Reader and Benjamin Button. I understand Button being nominated for Best Actor and Best Director. But the writing was pretty dull. I think The Dark Knight, The Wrestler, and Wall-E were better than the nominees, except Milk.

But oh well, didn't these people nominate Babe for Best Picture? And give Best Picture to Lord of the Rings?

Posher778 01-22-2009 09:33 AM

All i'm saying is... If Ledger doesn't get best supporting actor.... Ohhh man... Ohhhhhhh man.

I'll take newb's beer away and tell him the people behind the oscars stole it.

Yeah...I though Clint at least deserve just a nomination here for the best actor as they didn't recognized him this way before! (pls correct me if I'm saying wrong:confused: )

It's really sad to see how shamelessly they nominated fairly good/decent films like SDM & The CC of BB (wow! that's a funny initial:D ) in so many category.

Benjamin Button was a very, very good movie...but 13 nominations? HAH!

Paul the Monk 01-22-2009 06:27 PM

The Oscars are just a ruse for filmmakers to compare dick sizes, that's all.
