January 20th: Inaugaration Day

Hey guys. I was just wondering if anyone on HDC is traveling to Washington, DC to the inaugaration ceremony. It's been a tradition of mine to always watch it--regardless of who the president was--well in my lifetime, it's been just Clinton and Bush (I wasn't born in the 80s to catch the other Bush's inaugaration but I did witness Clinton and the 2nd Bush's ones) I hear DC's expecting 5,000,000,000 people--but that number may increase as the days leading up get closer. For anyone who is heading there expect traffic to be crazy as is usually is but I would reccommend leaving maybe 1 to 2 days before--because of the largely anticipated crowd. I thought tickets ran out to attend, but apparently people are still suggesting more may be issued--I'm not exactly sure about that. I thought people were suppose to request tickets from their own state's representatives for the ceremony, though.

Any way, I know not everyone on HDC is amped about politics as I am, or maybe even at all, but for anyone that is, I want to hear your thoughts? Anyone, a tad bit excited? :)

i was more excited that he won ...

not at all excited over the ceremony a month or so later

He won. He's the president. I don't see the big deal about a formality.

Five billion?!

Is China coming?

Yep.

Honestly, the crowd will most likely be bored self-important college students with nothing better to do and looking for a cause to support and excuse to drink intellectually. I'm over all that.

My flight leaves on the 18th!!!

Babygurl20 01-12-2009 05:10 PM

I didn't vote for hime, I didn't want him in office, so NO, my presence should not be expected! It has nothing to do with race either before anybody reposts or quotes me saying I'm a biggot! I could get into it on here because I am HUGE into politics, but I'm not because I've learned a while ago that NO, MY VOTE AND MY OPINION DOESN"T COUNT IN THE USA!!

"Mr. Obama. We're all ready, but one thing. Babygurl20 isn't here."
"What the fuck!? Inauguration off!"

Babygurl20 01-12-2009 05:31 PM

This is why I hardly ever post my opinion anymore, because there is always someone out there who has to be a prick about it. Oh well, you'll grow up soon sweety and see what a mess this country is in. Thanks to Clinton, Bush, and now it's gonna be Obama.

My making fun of the member who can't spell "girl" correctly proves my ignorance of the country's well-being?

Babygurl20 01-12-2009 05:45 PM

Look at the members and you will see a Babygirl20 and a Babygurl20, they are both me hun. Somehow I was blocked from babygirl20. Anymore gripes? If you look in that first post I also accidentally mispelled 'him' also.......... So, sue me. Don't try to come argueing with me about politics with your 17 year old self, b/c FYI, you'll lose.:p

I see. Understandable and I respect that.

And I think the ceremony's 2 months, 2 weeks, and 2 days after the win--at least for this year it seems. :p :D

Not all are mere, groupies, Despare. And yeah I do get your point though on how annoying and irritating it seems on some of the pop-culture my generation figuratively worships.

But there's hope out there....I'm not into the Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers, or any other music/movie "trends," that lack any substantive, concise, or meaningful purpose as did years before. :) And I'm sure there are a few here on HDC that also defy that aspect of the current generation----in a positive way of course. :) Uh, massacreman? ferretchucker? Any of you guys understand where I'm getting at--or attempting to get at?
