Hes been around for awhile, after his second...maybe third he lost all that made him decent artist.

Id say he owned about 10 years ago. Now all the good members of the band are gone and hes all about the money. If you want to hear some killer manson listen to Portrait of an American Family, Smells like Children, or Antichrist Superstar. It all really falls of from there.

Portrait is more of a fucking album... Smells is more of a remix... Antichrist was so damn commercialized.....

I get mixed feelings with Marilyn Manson... I have seen these fuckers over 5 times in concert and the shit was the same.. BUT god damn I dont know what it is about the music a lot of it is catchy...

Agreed on all points. But i have a special place in my heart for antichrist as i grew up on it, i really love some of the songs too. Its the last Hardcore album they made. Portrait does own them all tho.


3 times here, i used to be a big fan, until he fired all the musicians:rolleyes: but the music was pretty good, and he used to write some pretty good lyrics as well. You could tell that alot of thought went into those earlier works.

I'd have more support for him if he came out and admitted his whole act was a gimmick. He's obviously intelligent enough to damn near extort money out of the retards of society. I walked past the line outside the door to his concert in Sydney late last year, I think... Every second person there was in plain trendy clothes - the rest of them were all 14 year old girl's in cheap gothic clothing, probably discussing how hot the bassist was and how their school teacher makes them want to slit their wrists.

It's not really his fault about the poser teenage girls, it seems they started making everything their own after good charlotte wasn't enough.

True, but I saw less teenage girls at Linkin Park... considering I haven't listened to Manson in a long time, it makes me wonder if he's sold out or the mainstream has stretched that far.

well I think with the emergence of Eminem he lost alot of his shock value. Which in turn brought him alot more into the open.

I still love pre-1998 Manson. I still listen to the first 3 albums (im including SLC here, even tho its really an EP), those 3 are well and beyond anything marketed to us as "rock" these days. But youd be hard pressed to get me to listen to his new shit, god its so dissapointing:(

Save yourself $15. Its worthless.

Download it, then make your choice on whether you want to buy it or not. It's hard to understand paying $15 for a CD that you'll only listen to 3 times in your life, and Manson's latest will be lucky to get that much rotation.

Seriously though, I haven't made a blind purchase in over 2 years. I download it, or borrow it from a friend. CD's are expensive enough, you might as well get value out of the ones you pay for.

a lot of people wont admit to that... But they know it is true... I personally dont care if it is a gimmick or shit.. We all know that it is.. Still has catchy songs IMO

For some people though, they have to look past the gimmicks. I know people who refuse to listen to bands like Slipknot, Mushroomhead and The Berzerker because they wear masks. Other people see his satanism/atheism as a gimmick... cause in some songs he denounces God and in others he claims God doesn't exist.

i like manson, though i can agree whole heartedly that his earlier shit is better. i like his new stuff too. but really the old stuff is the best.

as far as a gimmick. i dont think he is at all. hes been doin the same shit since day one when they werent shit but a local florida band. the whole concept of the band is to stirr shit up. look at the names. all model and a serial killers. the concept of the definition of beauty and horror is a central theme of the band, as is controversy. it always has been.

while i was sad to hear of ramirez's departure from the band i was excitied to see that tim skold had joined the line up (though im sure arioch might be the only other person here who knows skolds work).

the bottom line here is that if you dont like his music/imagery thats fine. everyone has their own tastes. but saying the whole thing is a gimmick is just plain ignorant, seeing that most of the fools saying this are about as familiar with his body of work as i am aerophysics.

I'm familiar with all his works, Watch the movie Velvet goldmine, then look at his Mechanical Animals Album. Compare the two and you will learn that he is full of it. You can also look to his downward trend in actual lyric writing as his albums progress, in corilation to the original members leaving.

agreed about velvet goldmine. even manson himself said that album was a glam rock tribute. well even though we dissagree, im glad you back up your opinion with knowledge. I felt that his last album had great lyrics. And you know what people change, and manson is all about reinvention. he always has been. either way after i saw bowling for columbine i gained some respect for him as a person and not just some rock star. but whatever. Im glad you backed up your argument instead of being like

"manson is a faggot. and youre a fucking moron for liking him. fuck you."
