I've heard 2 conflicting reports on why it hasn't yet. 1st is that even D'amato didn't know who owned the rights to it when he died and as yet this is still the case. The 2nd is that an Italian company has picked up the rights to it but is asking for so much cash from overseas distributors that so far everyone has balked at paying a fortune for a film with such a limited audience. I gave up waiting and bought a VHS to DVD transfer on ebay a few months back for £5, not wonderful quality but totally watchable.
There was a German DVD uncut release a few years back as Antropophagus 2 but I suspect this was a bootleg job.

freddy69 12-14-2008 11:41 AM

movie

havent seen them:eek:

nicklord1 12-14-2008 01:04 PM

Hi well lets hope it gets a release so a new generation will know of its existence.

The other 2 movies i am waiitnf for a dvd release are

Butcher baker nightmare maker and nightmare in a damaged brain

I am slowly getting round to updating my horror collection to dvd but its an ardious task.

Elvis_Christ 12-14-2008 04:01 PM

There's a R2 release of Nightmare in a Damaged Brain its probably OOP now tho I'm guessing.

Elvis_Christ 12-14-2008 04:07 PM

I've had a copy of Pieces sitting here for ahile but haven't got around to watching it. Any good?

Haven't checked out the other Zombie flicks unless I've watched them under a different name. Heard they were pretty average.

Rodus 12-15-2008 05:50 AM

^^The R2 UK version (Anchor Bay) is still cut. Nightmare Maker was taken of the DPP list yonks ago but AFAIK there's never been a DVD release on any region as it's a bloody awful film.

nicklord1 12-15-2008 07:43 AM

i thought the movie was one of the better ones of that era

Rodus 12-15-2008 07:45 AM

^^I'm possibly biased against it as I've only seen it on 5th gen pirate.

doesn't help much with pieces though, does it?

The_Return 12-15-2008 12:51 PM

I'm not a big fan of them myself, but as far as sit-coms go, Cheers is actually pretty solid. The earlier episodes are better than the last few season though...

Elvis_Christ 12-15-2008 04:06 PM

I've got a DVD-R of it as Nightmare think it's taken off a Dutch tape? Its got hardcoded subs but is fairly decent quality. I've got it on VHS too as Schizo but its heavily cut (don't think there's any gore in it at all haha).

Which is why I pointed him to a thread on the Blind Dead and did not mention Pieces.

:)

Who knows the most about 70s-80s horror in this forum ?

It would be cool to add you as a msn contact as i trying to complete my horror collection on to dvd and be nice to be able to ask some one a few questions etc.

neverending 12-16-2008 02:37 AM

What if that person doesn't use msn?

_____V_____ 12-16-2008 03:53 AM

Not me. I suck at knowing anything about 70s-80s horror.

Try Thomasgeorge.

If he's unavailable (your sheer bad luck), then you might ask either Psycom5K or Posher778...both pretty good at this stuff.

Doc Faustus 12-16-2008 01:05 PM

Pieces is awesome. I'm willing to start a knife fight with anyone who doesn't think that Pieces is a wonderful giallo splat classic.

nicklord1 12-16-2008 01:44 PM

Hi it will prob take 3-4 months to complete my horror update to DVD but shall let you know what movies i have got .

Angra 12-16-2008 01:45 PM

Guuuuuully..

dont forget LongDuckDong

ManchestrMorgue 12-17-2008 10:56 AM

And Johnny Longshlong could help straighten out a few issues for you as well, although he is a bit hard to get hold of a lot of the time. But he does have a firm grasp of the genre, and likes to talk about horror over a few stiff drinks.

Yes he does. He enjoys "boning up" on his movie knowledge from time to time.

Cheers

The blind dead series is cool, not great, but just pretty good.
Zomie4 and Zombie 5='s garbage...

as for PIECES,well its one of the most under rated slasher films.A personal favorite of mine. Basic common plot, ok acting and fantastic kills. A must own for any fan.

Hilti88NYC 12-21-2008 05:10 PM

Long story short. What the fuck do u wanna know???????????Im sure someone can help you...fool.. What a dumb question..Who knows the most about70's-80's horror films???????????????,just ask the fucking question????????????

nicklord1 12-22-2008 12:41 AM

I am looking for someone to talk to long term about the genre in case i have missed any gems etc etc . There is not one specific question , so kindly dont swear when you understand why i set the thread up

Elvis_Christ 12-22-2008 03:57 PM

House Of 1000 Corpses and Ginger Snaps are two that are pretty seminal in regards to American horror cinema. As a long time horror fan these really kicked my ass with their fresh approach to tried and true genre conventions.

Inside was a really dark, intense film bringing the slasher film back to life.

For shear popcorn fueled fun you can't go past Demon Knight (1994 but close enough).

Valentine gave us a decent throw back to the 80s slasher without the smug condesending self reflexive tone of Scream.

Ted Bundy and The Hillside Strangler were fantastic serial killer flicks ditching all the bullshit "how to join the FBI" CSI styled cliches to give a really fucked up insight into the mind of a killer.

More recently Romero gave us his best film in over 10 years with Diary Of The Dead. A way deeper film than Cloverfield or [REC].

The Midnight Meat Train was a killer adaption of Barker's work (the best since Candyman IMO and my favorite along with Nightbreed).

Thats some of the shit I've dug anyways that doesn't include remakes (because as good as a lot of them were they are more filler to me inbetween true genre flicks).

alkytrio666 12-22-2008 09:27 PM

I'm very fond of The Descent- it's tense, super-atmospheric, and there is some great gore/monster effects. Definately a modern essential.

roshiq 12-22-2008 09:41 PM

The Devil's Backbone
The Orphanage

Angra 12-22-2008 09:45 PM

Then lets talk. Let us ALL talk.

I liked Salems Lot and The Evil deads.. etc.
