I think Fallout III will eventually reach a spot here, though it's hard to compare it to the above games I simply haven't had the time to play it through as many times or come back to it after a long break and still be enamoured by it.

You know it! Though I didn't care for the one that came out for the Wii...it was much easier than the other ones. I beat it in one weekend.

Knowing how you feel about Fallout III, those must be damn good games.

I forgot about Baldurs Gate. I played the first one, which was a lot of fun. I tried to play the second one immediately afterward, but I thought that it was just a bit redundant.

...

And Angra reminded me... Monkey Island for PC was fantastic, as well as the Maniac Mansion games.

I loved Mario Cart, though I only played it for the Gamecube.

Baldur's Gate 2, managed to reall endear me a great deal more. The mechanics and design is much the same whereas the scale and probably somewhere around triple that of the original and the characters are that much more fleshed out. I still get a giggle of some or the absurd Minsc would randomly proclaim or the advise he'd offer from his "Space Hamster" Boo. It was also much darker in tone, comparatively I look at the original and it feels a little too "Fluffy".

Plus it had Jon Inrenicus, a wonderful voiced pompous arch villian and one of my favorite antagnists.

Oh Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle and Sam and Max... the laughs you gave me. I am not ever a fun of those puzzle click and point adventures but the sheer hilarity of thoes games endear me enough to see them through.

That skull in Monkey Island... so funny.

YES! Sam and Max and Day of the Tentacle were LOADS of fun! I can't believe that I forgot about Sam and Max! That was such a silly well-constructed little romp. :D

urgeok2 12-22-2008 05:31 AM

Halo (all of them)
Quake (1 and 2)
Duke Nukem

All of the Monkey Island games were great as well as the Day of the Tentacle's prequel Maniac Mansion. I loved those old adventure games, from the irreverent Space Quest games to Full Throttle which was like a playable animated feature. The Dig had a kick ass story line too... I need to go get dosbox.

novadawn969 12-24-2008 01:29 PM

I didn't think I could list many until I read some of yours.

Wow...
Memories.
I'm going shopping later.

Left 4 Dead (My newest obsession)
Sims 1 & 2
Duke Nukem ( I think the one I liked was Duke Nukem 3D or something?)
Any Mario game made for the snes
Baldor's Gate 1 & 2
Chrono Trigger
Pokemon (on the gameboy-hate the show, love the game)
Escape from Monkey Island and all the other Monkey Island games.
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Quake III: Arena
Doom
Any of the Final Fantasy's
Shadow Run
Etc...

When I was like 7 I played this PC game... It was almost like Duke Nukem, but I think it had 'gold' in the name, and it's name was the main character.
I can't remember the name of it, and it's really bugging me... :(
I loved that game!

Phalanx 12-24-2008 05:44 PM

A lot of apogee games were pretty similar.
There was duke nukem, the commander keen series, there was dangerous dave, there was jazz jackrabbit, blake stone (one of those had gold in the title?), hocus pocus, crystal caves, and my personal favourite "secret agent".
Good old games they were - most available for free download now ha.

Ok, maybe the gold just stuck out for no reason at all...
I'm an odd little duck when my mind deserts me.

Ok. Fine. I'm just a ditz.

All great games. I remember playing all these old DOS games back in the day. Hocus Pocus and Jazz Jackrabit are great, Duke Nukem goes without saying.
