From Beyond

Anybody else see this movie? Its one of my favorites. I found all of the "pineal gland" subject matter to be very fascinating.

StepfatherFan 02-05-2004 09:12 PM

I cant believe nobody has seen this one! Its an H.P. Lovecraft adaption, for pete's sake!!! Did I mention its a horror movie?

Yep, I have it on VHS too. Its getting pretty worn out though. LOL I hope they do put it on DVD.

BudMan 02-06-2004 03:41 AM

It is a great movie from the people who brought us "Re-animator"
I had thought is was released on DVD in the UK, but sleepaway says no. Perhaps it was Japan. I'll have to do some investigation work. Just call me Inspector Clouseau.

sleepaway 02-06-2004 04:20 AM

Maybe it's just on a Region 2 DVD? That covers most of Europe! Maybe it's in France or Germany?

Bub 02-06-2004 04:26 AM

You even get some kinkyness, lol.

Does anybody know where I can buy this in the UK, its very hard to find.

You can't! I had to get mine from the states and even there it's hard. Don't ya hate living in the UK????!!!

o it's great and weird this thing. i remember fangoria had a feature on it years ago and that made me want to see it. what's his name with the melty face was a compelling enough reason. ken foree SPOILER getting eaten with bugs another!

pineal gland is a weird thing too, rene descartes called it the 'seat of the soul' and indians (i.e. india) i believe refer to it as a third eye of sorts; and i think that's why some indian women wear the little thing on the forehead.

have this book where a medical doctor injected people with dmt, a potent psychadelic that naturally occurs in the pineal. someone say hey if they want to hear more about this, it's crazy

Vodstok 02-06-2004 08:20 AM

I have always been iffy about lovecraft adaptions. They are enjoyable, but i wouldnt call them "good".

Anyone ever see Dagon? The story wasnt even Dagon, it was a retelling of Shadow over Innsmouth, on redone to be in spain....

InnsMOUTH.....ImmBOCCA.. soprry i thought it was retarded and not very creative, but thats me.... I'm a purist...

Sorry Edited link post didn't work. dvd Aficionado shows From Beyond only on DVD in Japan and Germany.

Dreaming Girl 02-06-2004 06:01 PM

Of course I've seen it! I loved Re-Animator, so... From Beyond isn't quite as good IMHO, but it's still a very cool, fun movie...

The purist in me gets a little irritated with Lovecraft adaptions (I pretty much worship the guy), but I try to push that part of myself aside and just enjoy the cheesy, kinky goodness of Gorden/Yuzna's Lovecraft adaptions.

avenger00soul 02-07-2004 02:04 PM

Anything Stuart Gordon has done is very good. I love all of his Lovecraft-based horrors.

Splatter Phreak 02-08-2004 04:27 AM

yeah cool film - wasn't it buy the guy who made re-animator?

Splatter Phreak 02-08-2004 04:29 AM

shit...should have read the other page of replies. it is by the re-animator chap. doh. still, cool movie.
