Favorite Catchphrase

The recent lingo thread made me think about this...

Which one is your favorite?

missmacabre 11-24-2008 07:47 AM

Gone with the Wind. Just such a timeless movie and more my style than most of the others.

urgeok2 11-24-2008 07:48 AM

in all honesty - none.

i dont like them, i dont use them, i never have.

it always bothered me when people jumped on trendoid bandwagons like that - i have a prejudice against 'followers' which i see as a form of phoniness.

which is one of the big reasons i hated Juno so much.

prefab 'cool'

fuck that - the definition of 'cool' is being yourself - and being happy with it.

woah .. i vented.

anyway - if you want to see a bunch of catchphrase using sheep - check out the kevin smith forum ... once he utters a phrase - there's a whole army 'rockin' the same thing immediately after.

oh shit .. sorry - i missed the whole poll - i thought we were talking about general lingo catchphrases.

pardon my inappropriate rant.

this is embarrasing.

urgeok2 11-24-2008 07:50 AM

proper answer : Groovy - evil dead 2

(but i wouldnt go around saying it)

:o

Even Kev himself wont have any idea how many of his followers resonance back from the innumerable valleys in front of him.

Thats the beauty of being the originator of an echo.

I am soooo with you on this one!!!

I don't have a fave one on the list either:o I think "I'll Be Back" is really the one that i hear used most often.

Shit I missed a good one.

Not sure which one I would replace out of the 10 in the poll but...

"They are coming to get you, Barbara!"

_____V_____ 11-24-2008 08:05 AM

"Hey you guys!" - The Goonies

"Wolfman's got nards!" - The Monster Squad

Ahh, good ones.

newb 11-24-2008 08:15 AM

out of your list I would pick "Yippie kai yay motherfucker! ". I never really say it...I just like it. Personally I like "We're gonna need a bigger boat"......it has so many uses.

like my honeymoon for instance.

neverending 11-24-2008 08:25 AM

Who's on first?

ferretchucker 11-24-2008 09:07 AM

I think it has to be McCain. The others are okay. I don't really use them though. Only "catchphrase" I use is Father Jack's "FECK!" on the irish sit com "Father Ted". That, and his other ones. "WOMAN!" or "DRINK!"

You have to see them in action to understand why they work.

missmacabre 11-24-2008 09:24 AM

Haha i actually say the "Hey you guys" from the Goonies a lot. Mostly making fun of people but still, it would have had my vote.

ditto

A great line is a great line

re-using a great line is weak, flaccid writing that always makes me cringe

ahhh the famous 'that's what she said' has been forever embedded into my brain. It's slips out at every possible chance, it's almost like a game now. Who can make the funniest 'that's what she said' joke. I don't think it will ever stop being funny. And Wayne's world is definitely a fav. forever.

;)
