Are you dreaming...

Of a Whiiiiiiite, Christmas?

(Incidentally, my great great grandmother was a cousin of Bing Crosby's mother.)

BUT! To the point. Today, in my town, we've had our first real bit of snow, and I am LOVING it. It's still falling now, albeit lightly. But, I thought of you guys, as always, and came up with an idea. I took some photos of my front and back garden and here they are!

My shed, my summer house (winter house would be more appropriate) and the middle of the back garden.

One of my other sheds, the apple tree and the left of my garden.

The view from my conservatory. Most of the last shot but also including the decking.

The right of my front garden.

And the left of my front garden.

It's a great scene, considering for the past few years we've had VERY little snow. Hell, last winter there was more sun than snow. Anybody else got snow in their gardens or town or area or anything?

Freak 11-23-2008 03:14 AM

We got a little bit the other day but its already gone.We will get alot more before winter is over though.

ChronoGrl 11-23-2008 05:16 AM

Very picturesque, Ferret.

You're good at the Photoshop. If you had a map of jolly ol' England, where is your neck of the woods? (SHOW ME!)

...

We have not had snow yet in downtown Maynard, MA. THANK GOD.

Essentially, I LOVED snow when I was younger and I also LOVED snow when I was away from New England for a year and didn't get any snow at all...

Now that I have my own apartment and car that needs shovelling out, I can do away with this snow business.

La Chat Noire 11-23-2008 06:02 AM

Nice pics Ferret. We have a little snow in Pittsburgh. I'm tired of it already though. It's pretty but I hate brushing my car off in the morning and the puppy hates the snow and doesn't want to go on walks anymore. I'm looking forward to spring.

Papillon Noir 11-23-2008 06:48 AM

@Ferret

How many sheds do you have? :p

Very pretty pictures. We had a light dusting the other day, but that was it. We've been having mild winters so hopefully we'll get some real snow this year (and hopefully not have to go to work :D )

ferretchucker 11-23-2008 07:55 AM

Well, earlier today, me being the showman that I am, I slid on my bare belly (yes, no shirt!) down an icy, snowy, muddy, gravelly bumpy, steep grass hill. OUCH! But at least it got people's attention. I fear it may have put me off snow for a while though.

It's all real hunny!

I'm in the middle east (hehehe) bit of it. In Norfolk, near Norwich.

- La Chat

Awww. My cats weren't too pleased with it either.

- Paps

I knew someone would point that out! We have three sheds. One for general storage, on for bikes and gardening tools and the other for my dad's motorbike. We also have the large summer house. And it would be so great if it snowed to the point that everyone could stay at home!

skyblue342 11-23-2008 09:59 AM

Nice pics ferret! Im definatly dreaming of a white christmas i love snow so much. Its beautiful.

sfear 11-23-2008 10:03 AM

I hate snow. I built a car port last summer just to keep snow (and hopefully ice) off my car. Cool lookin' place you got there.

stubbornforgey 11-23-2008 10:22 AM

I have only ever touched snow once in my whole life.
We do get it over here ..but not in my part of the country.

Posher778 11-23-2008 11:25 AM

I want to rent a cabin up north out in the wilderness for just myself for a week. I've always wanted to do that. And i'll bring my puppy for snuggling.

missmacabre 11-23-2008 11:48 AM

I have so much snow outside, and I don't like it one bit. It's cold and messy and I am scared to drive the 45 minutes to get to a show tonight. ughhh

OMG did you just do the math to figure out when I am getting picked up? Cause thats creepy.

ferretchucker 11-23-2008 12:41 PM

Seven is the default time:rolleyes:...love. :p

missmacabre 11-23-2008 12:45 PM

Haha there is a default date time? I feel so clueless. I just know I posted on facebook that the show starts at 8 so I thought he had assumed what time I would be leaving.

Roderick Usher 11-23-2008 05:49 PM

I miss snow!!!!

I can get to it ion about an hour drive, but living in Los Angeles means no waking up to that blanket of white. I used to ive in Boston, Milwaukee, NYC and Washington D.C. and I never grew tired of the snow. The cold, yes...the snow, never.

That's exactly how I feel.
I grew up in Chicago and Indianapolis, so I was lucky enough to have my share of snow. I love it, too.

Ferret:
You live in what looks like the dreamiest, most peaceful town in the world. Is it?
I'm jealous, at any rate.
I plan on retiring in either the English countryside or the Irish coast. :D

I guess that means we're distant relatives then because Bing was a 2nd cousin to my grandmother.

What up Cuz?

Kewl. I've only ever been to London... Is Norfolk considered English countryside? (Don't mind the questions - I was obsessed with moving to England for a while so I'm kinda living vicariously here)

ManchestrMorgue 11-23-2008 09:40 PM

Well, I live on the other side of the world, so we are coming into summer.

But, as fate would have it, we actually had a little snow on Saturday. Where I was, it melted as it hit the ground, and the snow only fell for a minute or less. But pretty amazing when you consider it is almost summertime.

I wish I lived in Australia. :(

I forget - Where in Ozzie are you from?

ferretchucker 11-24-2008 08:55 AM

Bwind - NICE! My great great grandmother and his mother lived in the same small town in Ireland and both had the last name lillis. It is possible they weren't related, but considering it was a relatively small town, I doubt it. Maybe 2nd cousins, or even more distant, I'm not sure.

Fortunato - Everyone says that at the pictures. I'm pretty lucky where I live in the town. Most of it is quite nice, and it's very historic dating back to the Iron Age. There are bits of it though which are very less than favourable, and because of the outbreak of chavs, it has received the nickname Thet-hood (as opposed to Thetford). I like it here though.

Chrono - Most of Norfolk is fields and countryside. My town is surrounded by the largest forest in England!
