How to Properly Hide in a Second Account
 

Thought I'd try help those poor unfortunates that create second accounts for themselves (especially after being booted off of a forum) and hope to keep up an appearance of not being the same person as before :

disclaimer : I myself cannot do this - nor would i bother - but as in sports ... those that cant do: coach.

1) you can try a goofy 'character' account. It's easier to maintain a different persona if you try to post in a non-personal manner ... like the traveller/it/etc ..
those guys who were created in fun.... for the purpose of entertainment. They successfully hid their personalities by 'acting' another part - they didnt let their personalities seep into the roll.

2) try not to repeat the posting pattern of the past ... like before you were banned :

i.e. ... if you never posted anything about horror (until you were on the spot) and were basically just attracted to drama ... then the next time you come back ... try not to repeat the same god damn thing.

3) try to act like you haven't been around before. there are certain areas 'newbs' dont go to at first - because as a rule they dont have the experience with the people here to know what's going on yet .. sort of a comfort level thing. if a new person heads into these territories (again - usually drama threads) it's a pretty big red flag.

4) PMing. the odd time someone new PMs someone else for direction on something.... usually a mod. When the 1st thing you do is PM like crazy .. it's a big giveaway that you're still trying to work on the connections you made before you got the foot up the ass.

5) try not to use the exact same 'speech' patterns as before. I'm the first guy to admit this is a tough one - i could never be able to do it - but i think if you're disconnected from reality enough - (to keep coming back) - you should be able to push yourself in this direction. Hell, with a little work you should be able to post in a completely different language !

6) try to post from another house completely. before long upgrades will be made where IPs will be traceable. so your old IP will be the same as the new account you just created. Seems like a lot of time and trouble if all of your bogus accounts will be deleted on sight the second this feature becomes live.


so, in conclusion - again - i'm not an expert - but hopefully some of these tips will be of use to those of you determined to be some kind of special asshole in the future. Hey - if you've got nothing better to do than to keep coming back to a place were you aren't welcome ... you might as well do it right !

If they really cared that much and wanted to go through the trouble they could just use a proxy.

On 2 different April Fool's Days we (most of us) created fake accounts to have a good time and try to 'fool' each other...I was called out almost instantly, everyone guessed mine...lol

It was kinda funny, but I am an absolute failure at trying to not be me

I'd make a horrible actress unless the role was based on a character who's just like me...:D

Some others here did a GREAT job, I never guessed many of them

Even for the Battle Royale, there was no way that I would have figured out that the Assassin was Vampclown...Actually, I never guessed his on April Fool's Day either...Now HE is good at this...Newb's was really good, too...So was Flayed's :)

OMG...I just realized that I completely forgot the name on my first April Fool's Day account...I remember that the avatar was a crucified Barbie Doll, and The title was something like 'Passion Of The Barbie'...My second one I still remember

Now it's going to bug me, trying to remember that first one...

I feel kind of bad for these people. They were ousted from a forum because everyone couldn't stand their ass for who they really were. Now, they have to pretend that they're someone they're not, and most likely will look like a bigger jackass. Come to think of it, I don't feel bad for them whatsoever :D

The whole second account thing...I don't know if it's usually a "revenge" bit, or just trying to yknow come back and not slip up first.
I think this starts with people having the wrong idea about forums then getting all touchy about the reactions that you can get - you're not immediately among friends...the net is 90% criticism, you are open to it.

When my Dark_Hero account was banned (still kinda wish I knew why), I made this one and posted like a douchebag for a week or two so people wouldn't know it was me.

What it always comes down to, is that old members, no matter what the mask, will eventually return to prosperity here because they enjoy it.

Yeah, that one was in 2006...The first time we did the April Fool's thing was 2005...I can't remember that one at all...I'm gonna see if I can search the memberlist for that date specifically :)

Okay, I checked...I couldn't find anything...I believe that in 2005 we only changed our avatars, titles and locations to really goofy things...Which would explain why I didn't see any new oddball accounts for April 2005...and also why I can't remember an alternate SN for myself from 2005, but I distinctly remember the avatar and the title.

I guess we only did the alternate account April Fool's Day in 2006, but I think some may have brought theirs back for April 1, 2007.

Reading over the old threads for April 1, 2005, I'm thinking we should have done it again this year...I was laughing my head off reading those...We had a blast trying to figure out who everyone was...Chaos and Confusion...It was awesome :D

Ya'll are crazy folks. I once knew a guy name Smitty. He had another personality. Showed up at his wedding. The two had a fight. Thing was, his other personality was a black guy, and when Smitty eventually triumphed, he was put down for ten years for his "hate crime".
