Christmas Pine Tree Aroma!

Okay, I have to mention this because it's that time of year again. And I know you don't care--I know you don't! I know, you bastards! I know you don't care. But I'll lay it down for you anyway. I love that Christmas tree smell! I love it! I even like the air fresheners with the pine scent, those little wall mounted things with the oil vaporizer, the sprays, whatever. And of course, there is nothing better than a huge, fresh-cut pine tree right there in the room. Smells beautiful! And When you put lights on it, it warms the tree up a little and the pine oil disperses and it's even better! So really, I love this and I like the way you sort of smell pine wherever you go, you can be really far away from the mountains around Christmastime, far away from any TREES, and someone will have arranged for you to be smelling this. Sure makes my day a much better one!

illdojo 11-12-2008 09:26 AM

I also enjoy the smell of pine... Do you like the taste of Gin, Crabby?
Personally, I can't stand it.

crabapple 11-12-2008 09:28 AM

It is my ONLY weakness!

Like the smell when the fresh, juicy oranges made when they dotted your orange tree?

Warm, juicy, tender and so fresh! You could literally taste the smell in your tastebuds.

And the smell of fresh pine...mmm, its like standing on the slope of a freshly snowed mountain overlooking a long valley, dotted with pine trees.

crabapple 11-12-2008 09:30 AM

Oh, it's too much!! It's too much I tell ya!

I remember that tree full of oranges!

Ah, they were fabulous.

_____V_____ 11-12-2008 09:32 AM

Orange are happy!

Pine are happy!

ferretchucker 11-12-2008 10:43 AM

Vodstok 11-12-2008 10:46 AM

I love the smell of blue and the taste of ambivelance

but seriously, coffee is an exquisite smell.

And Mint.

I love the warm burn of scotch when you take that first sniff before sipping....

ferretchucker 11-12-2008 10:52 AM

I love the smell of freshly made bread.

monster123 11-12-2008 10:56 AM

I love the smell of cookies in the oven and i love egg nog! Its my favorite holiday drink ever.

Leprucky Cougar 11-12-2008 11:02 AM

Christmas is my favorite holiday. The carols. The cold temperatures. The decorations. The stories, (Rudolph, & Frosty, etc), the history behind the holiday--overall the genourous spirit. Besides all these reasons, it's my favorite holiday because of the snow and that it's 1 week after my birthday. The only bad thing is the christmas tree smell--those cans of spray get my allergies going. We could never have real Christmas trees in the house because of that. And whenever my mother spray the Christmas tree spray either I'm not around when it happens or come in 30 minutes later when it's "cleared." Besides that though Christmas is still a blast; like on the Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer animated film--one of the songs on there: "When Christmas Day is here, it's the most Wonderful day of the Year."

crabapple 11-12-2008 11:12 AM

Oh yeah, I love those Rankin Bass holiday specials. I bought the Rudolph DVD just recently, hadn't seen that in a long time. There is a soundtrack album for that too, with most of the songs from the film, and it's in stereo--very nice...

monster123 11-12-2008 11:14 AM

I bought the whole christmas collection santa claus is coming to town. year without a santa claus, rudolph, frosty the snowman, etc. Those are the best christmas shows around!

Bought a $1 DVD of Santa Claus Versus the Martians, too.

I've never heard of that movie i might have to check it out is it pretty funny?

crabapple 11-12-2008 11:28 AM

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is really good too...I like those dollar DVDs of it but I notice that they usually cut up the opening titles with the song and you only hear about half the song or less...there was a VHS release of it some years back that has the whole song, for sure, and the song is one of the movie's strong points.

It is funny, cheesy, cheap and awful. But oddly, it does have the "Christmas spirit" lurking in there somewhere and it's a cozy flick to watch around the holidays. In fact I think I'll watch it today!

amc420vt 11-12-2008 03:26 PM

i hate the smell of christmas trees. and i hate having real trees for christmas, they're a pain in the ass, i hate cleaning up after them, i hate watering it, and i hate that my cats wont leave it alone and climb the damn thing.

i like them fake. pay once, reuse every year.

Love mother nature, buy a fake tree. quit killing the real ones, or hippies will cry (dont make me dig up that clip....)

amc420vt 11-12-2008 03:29 PM

exactly. trees are like 60 bucks now a days. its ridiculous. id rather have a fake one as well. saves money, and trees. and thats what i like :D

bloody_ribcut 11-12-2008 03:41 PM

that would have worked soo much better without the typo :)

neverending 11-12-2008 04:14 PM

Christmas trees are grown on tree farms, and several state's economies rely on their sales.

You're not destroying the Earth any more by buying a Christmas tree than you are by buying an ear of corn.

And Christmas trees are harvested between 3-6 years of age, so that much maligned video about the death of an old growth tree has no bearing, Mr. Vod.

:)

your logic severely negatively impacts my smart-ass attempts at minor shit stirring and humor.:)
i am aware of tree farms, but I was pretending to be an overly sensitive hippie douche.

I know- but as an Oregonian I had to speak up for our economy amidst so much tree hating.

And hippies here buy Christmas trees.

Ha!

I love the irony. New Hampshire, too, has its fair share of tree farms and hypocritical hippies

Wait, does that make them Hyppies?

hacelikewhoa 11-12-2008 06:09 PM

fake is better...then your cats don't fuck it up and get pine needles everywhere

though real trees do smell so good. But not worth it.

That's the sensation I get when I bite into a York Peppermint Patty!

I love Christmas Trees, Christmas music, and generally everything about the holiday season INCLUDING the rush (I'm one of those 3 AM Black Friday shoppers even!).

Yeah, I'm the same way.
I think my favorite thing about the holiday season is those nights where the snow is a thick blanket all over the ground, and the moon reflects off the surface and illuminates the sky in a white-grey glow.

I love to just stand out on the front porch and take it in.

newb 11-12-2008 07:37 PM

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

What retailer sells it. I NEED THAT ALBUM !!! lol.. seriously I need to get the album. I never thought about buying the dvd it's just tradition for me to catch it on tv. I like the Misfit song, We are Santa's elves, When Christmas Day is Here-the most wonderful day of the year, and a few others.

crabapple 11-12-2008 08:33 PM

I got the Rudolph soundtrack at Target a couple of years ago, it was like six dollars. You could probably search and find one at Amazon for less, used...

I work in special effects, and I like to annoy the folks in the workshops by playing the "We are Santa's elves" song that goes something like...

We are Santa's Elves
Filling Santa's shelves...
With a toy for each girl and boy,
Oh we are Santa's Elves!
Ho ho ho, ho ho ho.
We are Santa's Elves.
