House of 1000 corpses
Just watched this movie to day and thought it was pretty decent. Although I think rob went a little over bored with the directing for example the werid ass clips in between scenes and the messed up color cuts, I just think he got a little carried away. The movie was very enjoyable especilay Spaulding, Dr.Satan and Father (the guy with the big ass axe and the gas mask thing). Baby was sexy but annoying and otis was one sick fuck. I give it a 4 out of 5

I don't give a damn what anyone says, it kicked ass. Bill Moseley is a credit to the horror genre. He's a nice guy too.

I already posted what I thought of this movie in another thread but just to clarify if you don't want to look for the other one.

Well I tried to find a thread but this site has a messed up way of finding old threads.

I really liked this movie. the first time i saw it was on video and I was thinkin it was gonna be more gory than it was. Then I saw the texas chainsaw massacre for the first time last week (don't know why I never got around to seeing it!) and I saw all the similarities. I heard the second one is supposed to be excellent. It's a great directing job by Rob Zombie. He's a sick fuck, but he sure does make a good movie :p
|
I too liked to movie! I also was anticipating this movie since the talks of it being made. The only let down was the similarity to Texas chainsaw massacre. I am a huge fan of that movie too, but i was kinda let down that Rob Zombie had to follow that movie so closely. I would have liked to see something a little more original. thats just me. But like i said i really liked it, and i am looking forward to the sequal!!

Personally I loved this movie. I thought it would be much more gory, but the lack of was actually a good thing. And of course it has to be one of the craziest movies I've ever seen. Can't wait for the sequel.
|
I really liked House Of 1000 Corpses. I can't wait till the second one. They just need to have more of Spaulding.
|
I Saw This On TV.. Is It The One Where The Black Sexy Lady Kicks The Zombie? Also When The Girl Shoots The Shotgun? If So This Movie Is Gonna 0wnZ0Rz.. But If I Have No Clue What I'm Talking About Ignore Me:o

Here's my thoughts: Otis makes the freaks at Captain Spaulding's museum. They are in cahoots if you will. Hence, Fishboy.

Oh.. LOL!
|
the DVD has cool interactive menus too...
|
This is coming on in a few minutes so I thought I would check it out on here before watching it...it seems alot of you liked it...I'll give it a try!

That must be right because the last part you see Dr. Satan is operrating on her. |
Walking the dogs took longer than I expected and I missed the beginning so I had to pass on watching it that night. It's on all day again so I am sure I will be able to catch it sometime this afternoon. I can't watch scary stuff while I'm alone at night but I'm just fine during the day...what a wimpy horror fan, eh? Scares me way too much...then I'm afraid to get up to go to the bathroom or open the door for the dogs. Pathetic.
After reading all your posts I am VERY interested in seeing it...I think this is going to be a good one. I just scrolled down the page and realized that my screen name is really freakin'...stupid! Everyone else has names like LeatherFace and Killer Clown and here I am with carriekinz...do I ever sound like a girly girl. Sheesh. Gotta do something about that...LOL:rolleyes: |
I'm just plain ole....Tony. Don't feel bad. Keep your username.
|
LOL Tony...I was thinking about it, too, and decided I'd better stick with my carriekinz name--'cuz the best I could come up with that related to me in any way was "Rottweiler Devil"--and anyone who knows about Rottweilers knows there is nothing scary about them...my Rott was the most darling thing ever. Yup, I will be content with my name. BTW, at least Tony can sound like a menacing "mobster" name if you want it to...KWIM:D
Take care....Carrie |
I thought House of 1000 Corpses totally rocked. I was a fan of Rob before the movie, so I just had to see it, lol, and I was pleasently surprised. I must admit, I didn't expect it to be as good as it was, I did expect more gore, but I don't think the movie lost anything in value without it. I can't wait for the second!

OK. I LOVE, love, love scary movies and 99% of the time I am fine with them...good or bad I don't get disturbed by watching them. But I definitely feel disturbed after watching this one last night...I don't know why but I still have eeby-jeebies. I totally loved the special effects and gory scenes...that stuff makes me jump but never "scares" me, so I think it has something to do with the those poor girls at the beginning, the cheerleaders being abducted and tortured that has me still spooked. I really can't handle reality stuff in horror movies...does anyone know what I mean? Of course you want reality but I don't like thinking that something like that could really happen...do I make any sense? I am used to the car full of kids going to a strange house and meeting freaks--that is simply horror--but the girls being tortured just made me uncomfortable. I know I sound like a nut but for some reason I just couldn't stomach it. The other kids being tortured didn't bother me...that was expected. The cops being shot...no problem. But those stupid cheerleaders. Sheesh. I must be losing it!
I loved the daughter! She was hilarious! (Has anyone seen Dot on MAD TV? I will never think of her in the same way!) Finally a beautiful actress that can actually act well in a scary movie...not just "bounce" around like a moron, although I am sure there was enough bouncing for you guys;) Gotta love those pants! LOL I loved the set...cool house, awesome tunnels, neat little roadside attraction. And the make-up was great...at least to my untrained eye. I was interested in the characters and can't wait to see the next one...AS LONG AS THERE ARE NO FREAKING CHEERLEADERS IN IT!! (I still can't understand why I feel so strongly about that?!) I liked this movie for the effects, a workable storyline, and some incredible characters...but it isn't for anyone with a weak stomach...or my boyfriend who somehow sat through the whole thing and was figgetty the whole time--he said it seemed like they made the story up as they went. He hates horror and he was just bored. I was interested till the end because I just had to see what was going to happen next. |
Glad you liked it.

Umm...hi. I'm new here and I don't want you all to jump down my throat on my first day but I really didn't care for House of 1000 Corpses. Turning the guy into "Fishboy?" Weak.
Doctor Satan? Weak. And there was so much stuff that was just...over the top. Usually I like stuff that's creepy and gorey and whatever but there was just too much....stuff! I think it started out great, it just got too self-indulgent by the end. Oh, but the guy who played the clown in the shop was awesome! That dude really freaked me out. Even down to the way he talked....that was one scarey clown |
Learn more about the movie, it's origins, the writer, and what it was styled fter and maybe you will appreciate it more.... or perhaps not now that you've seen it first... whatever...
*FADE OUT* |
I've got like two quick questions that somebody might be able to answer:
What is the name of the character that chases after Mary (or Denise) in the end? Is it "Father" or is it "Earl?" If it is "Earl," then who is he, and why did Rob Zombie not list himself in the credits as portraying him? Didn't want to start a whole new thread for one that already existed... "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!" *FADE OUT* |
I believe that character to be father but am not sure, I saw the movie in the theater, I think this is the best way to see any horror film. I like to see the reaction of the audience. I think as some have said that this film is similar to TCM but I also see it modeled after horror films from the 30s like dracula and frankenstein. It is kind of cool take on americana. I live on a farm in the middle of nowhere and I moved there from suburbia. I have to say that nothing is scarier than an old farm house at night or even during the day. Nothing like old rusty farm tools laying around to make for a good killin' or torturin'. I think the most interesting character was Otis, kind of a good ol boy type with a twist. The 'burn this flag' shirt that he was wearing reminds me of people that I know in town. The idea that this could actually be happening somewhere gets in your head a little. I cant wait for the directors cut, I understand that their was a lot taken out of the film just to give it an R rating. Overall I give it 4 out of bloody axes but must admit that I am biased, to Rob Zombie.

Rob Zombie is king! I wish he could be Gubernator in Calif.
Anyways... I started listening to Rob about 4 years ago... and i've probably destroyed my copy of Hellbilly Deluxe I've listened to it so many times... I really want to get all his other albums, the DVD, and some white zombie stuff... About "Father," this character isn't listed in the credits at all on IMDB, so I was wondering if some people call him Father and some call him Earl. *FADE OUT* |

I think that avenger00soul is right I think that he was referred to as the professor, I have to buy the DVD everyone has been saying good things about it. Zombie rules, if you like his solo stuff you'll like White Zombie too, it is a little less, Industrial Metal I guess you would call it, but it is very good stuff. Rob also did a couple of remix albums that were good with KMFDM, they may be hard to find though. I read on the home page an interview with the Electric Head and it looks like there is going to be a part 2 cant wait for that.

Watched it for the first time since it came out last night (and the first time I saw it I missed the first 30 minutes because my friends were missing... fuckers...)
There were some things that I missed from before, that I thought I caught, but I'd rather double-check... (Some Spoilers Below!) The family is something like this: Grandpa Hugo One of these two is Hugo's spawn: Mother Firefly and Father Firefly(Earl, the one who burned Tiny in the fire, seen in the flashback around the dinner scene... played by RZ himself, uncredited) Otis, Baby, Tiny (STUMPFUCKER!), and Little Boy (the miscarriaged fetus in the jar that Otis brings down to dinner) are all their children Rufus Jr. (RJ) is apparently a friend of the family. I think that's right, but oh well... Also, Dr. Satan said some things that were kind of unintelligible with his air mask on towards the end, but I think I made out the word "Junior" when he called for the man with the Red (Robotic) eyes and the axe that chases Denise down the "Bunnytrail" (Nice Alice in Wonderland symbolism with the little blue dress and the guy wearing the bunny ears stripping her of her costume) I'm also not sure about who the professor is, really... Also, I think the Skunk Ape family didn't get enough time in the "show"... But that was funny... Along with that religious guy with the shotgun (wow... I totally just wrote "shotfun":p ) (Did anyone else think that "Goober", "G. Ober," looks alot like the TV geek from that show on Comedy Central a while back called "Beat the Geeks?") When I watched it again, this time I thought it could have been darker than before... And grainier... Oh well... *FADE OUT* |

And I thought G. Ober looked alot like the fatman on Jackass that's always chasing the little guy. |
