Why are threads deleted?
 

Is it just me, or does Avenger delete threads he doesn't like?

He even deleted a thread, that has Horror (the creator) saying "You can post anything you want to in the general forum."

I believe that it says "anything" although my vision may be going bad.

Wow Avenger, your unwritten law rules over Horror? Or are you just enjoying all that power a bit too much?

On some message boards I moderate I would delete posts I didn't like. ONLY because I managed the sites, and I was in a bad mood. :D

Plus the ones I deleted were insulting and started arguments.

I don't know why someone would delete the post you said they deleted. That sucks.

Many of the threads that were deleted weren't insulting, nor did they start arguments.

And it's ok for you to delete, you're managing them. I could be wrong, but as far as I know Avenger isn't.

Yeah, deleting a post with Horror in it does suck.

That's called bad moderating.

I'm an admin at a forum, and I was a mod at another until I left that forum. The forum that I'm and admin at, we don't delete threads unless it's necessary (ie, pornograph etc) then we give the topics poster a warning level, which decreases his ability to post, and if he gets warned 5 times, they're banned. What we do to topics is lock them.

If it's a pointless topic, like SFF's fist fucking topic, we would lock it because it got off topic, but wouldn't delete it so people can still look at the topic, and maybe get some info from it that they never knew or something.

On bannings, I'm a little more strict on people, I give out IP Bannings, which means they'll never be able to come back, unless they have 56k, which in that case I can't IP Ban them.

I think the only reason why Avenger is deleting topics is because maybe he can't lock them? Either way, if they're pointless, I think he should just leave them alone, they'll die off eventually. I would only delete a topic if it really does need deleting.

Well this thread is going to get deleted too, unless we put something like "Avenger is a great mod."

He deletes things that he doesn't like, or things that are created by people he's not buddy buddy with.

I just said this in another thread but It fits here too.
Threads should be closed or locked, not deleted , we lose post count when it's deleted.
Having them Closed is easier.

This is the onlyboard I ever been on where they delete , They uually just lock them.
I moderated on The Gameshow boards and that's what we did.

Not really. You'd have to know what I was moderating in order to figure that out. I didn't create the page, but I co-manage it. The person I know that created it likes to keep things,.. umm.. clean? Not really clean, but close. That site's a fucking joke anyway. A bunch of little kids pretending to be older (the site wasn't intended for that, I don't know what happened) talking about how much they loooove the band AFI.

I haven't deleted ANY threads. I've only moved certain ones (arguments and spam) into an unseen folder where they will be reviewed. As for the rest of them, I've put them into the correct forum. Just take a minute to look around. The thread you started this thread about was put into the correct forum.....not deleted.
