Lots of BestBuy DVD's on sale which are worth it?

Bestbuy has a sale on horror dvd's i got EvilDead II, Art Of The Devil and AOTD II in a set wasn't on sale but 12.99 and Hatchet. they have The Lost for $5, a zombie movie Anamorphic something? and a comedy "butcher massacre" I should have wrote down a list. I will check again. But I am sure some of you picked up some good stuff so what did you get?

Brutal Massacre: A Comedy was weak imho, it just didn't keep my interest at all and a lot of the jokes and gags fell flat. I'll probably end up picking up Hellraiser (anniversery edition), Hatchet, Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer, 28 Weeks Later, and Mothman Prophecies.

$6.99-
Halloween 25 Years of Terror
Hostel
Dawn of the Dead (orig.)
Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer
28 Week Later
AVP
Donnie Darko
Evil Dead
Evil Dead II
Halloween
Hatchet
Hellraiser
The Hills Have Eyes 2(remake)
Hollow Man
Hostel II
Land of the Dead
Mr. Brooks
Resident Evil Extinction
Saw III
Shaun of the Dead
Silence of the Lambs
Vacancy

$4.99-
Saw II
Friday the 13th The Ring
American Psycho
28 Days Later
Alien
Aliens
Bug
Candyman
Children of the Corn
Child's Play
Christine
The Covenant
The Descent
From Hell
The Grudge 2
The Grudge
The Hills Have Eyes (remake)
The Howling
Identity
Jeepers Creepers
The Mothman Prophecies
Nightwatch
Phantasm
Saw
Turistas
Wrong Turn
Zodiac

I almost got American Psycho, Shawn of the Dead, Is land of the dead any good? They have Mother of tears too (Dario and Asia) is it worth it?

La Chat Noire 10-22-2008 05:39 PM

I loved American Psycho and Shaun of the Dead...I bought American Psycho for $4.99 at Target on a whim actually...haven't had a chance to see the other two yet though.

Yeah, it's a good sale.

I picked up Child's Play, Aliens, Scanners, and Phantasm.

Good opportunity for everyone to grab a copy of Mr. Brooks - great movie that got completely overlooked. One of my favourites of last year, but it seems like NOBODY's seen it.

Really? Isn't that the Dane Cook movie? I think I passed it up because although I can have fun with Dane Cook's comedy I wasn't looking forward to seeing him "act". He was an alright character in Dan in Real Life though.

I bought it for $1.99, didn't like it, and gave it to my brother. I bought it because the store didn't have a rental available at that time, and buying the used DVD was cheaper than renting ($3.99) it. I thought Kevin Costner was ok. He's a fairly good actor but I didn't like his alter-ego. Bad acting, in my opinion.

Too bad I don't have a Best Buy in my town. There's one about 40 miles from here. I'm going over there tomorrow but I usually don't buy movies. I like several on the list, but most of them can be rented for $1.99 (per week) here. I don't watch many movies more than once. If they had Joy Ride on sale, I'd buy that.

That's the one.

Cook really surprised me...his comedy annoys the hell out of me an I was expecting to hate him, but he actually does a pretty good job. His character is slimy as hell and not too bright, so it suits him. Nothing Oscar caliber, but way better than you' expect.

Plus William Hurt as Costner's other half is brilliant. One of his best performances in years.

Return is correct.....I was also impressed with this movie. One of Costners best in years.

The only movie he was good in was The Big Chill

You weren't kidding. Not only did Best Buy have a lot on sale but their horror section was restocked with a whole bunch of new stuff, much I had never heard of. So in addition to The Beatles "Love" cd I got The Cook (unrated) and The Girl Next Door based on the Jack Ketchum novel. I've read about it in the horror mags but never seen a copy in town. The Cook was $4.99 and I fully expected to pay full price for the Ketchum, but when it also rang up for $4.99 also I couldn't write my check fast enough. There was no sale sign for it so it was either an unmarked sale or a ghost in the machine.:)

chaibill 10-25-2008 02:55 PM

I saw some Ketchum stuff are they good? they have THE LOST from him too

I haven't seen them yet though I have both. I got them based on what I read in Rue Morgue. Halloween mourning (my day off and pun intended) I'm torn between watching one of the Ketchums or Mother Of Tears. May actually have to flip a coin.:)

chaibill 10-29-2008 12:29 PM

I almost got mother of tears. What are the other 2 in the trilogy? Is it worth a buy?
