Oh, I fucking love it!

So I just woke up about 10 minutes ago. Let Harley Quinn out back to take care of business. Then I noticed something, it was cold, and the skies weren't gray like a storm was coming. A pretty blue sky and nice, cold air. I love the time of year when that first happens.

So then I step out front and look up and down the streets and see all the houses with their pumpkins and spooky yard decorations. The leaves are turning brown and yellow. I love this time of year, just so many nice elements combining together. I can't explain how it makes me feel.

I love it.

bloodrayne 10-18-2008 04:39 AM

I AGREE!

And the scent in the air...It smells so 'cool, crisp and clean'

It just smells like Autumn

Leaves, Pumpkins, Wood smoke and somehow a cinnamon and black licorice undertone

I love the sights, sounds, feel and SMELL of Autumn

massacre man 10-18-2008 04:47 AM

Nothing welcomes Autumn like a nice fire. But the people who have the fires at their house are going to see GWAR tonight. Damn.

Me toooooooooooooo.

This is hands down my favorite season. It actually makes leaving the house for work easier - Getting out, smelling the air, the coolness... I LOVE it.

Though I can't believe how friggin quickly October is slipping by.

That sucks, GWAR never comes anywhere close enough for me to see them.

It got chilly really quick, like one day it was 90 degrees and the next it was 60 degrees.I wore a lil dress to work yesterday and when i went out to use my cell it was freakin cold.I guess its finally time to put away the summer clothes.:(I love this time of yerar though,it seems to put people in a better mood:)

hammerfan 10-18-2008 06:50 AM

Autumn is hands-down my favorite season. My mother keeps trying to get me to move to Florida - no way, I'd miss the changing seasons too much. Even as much as I dislike winter, I'd miss it.

I just wish Autumn would come to Delaware! It's been so freakin' warm lately....

Doc Faustus 10-18-2008 07:01 AM

I love this weather. Sixty degrees is my favorite temperature. I like needing a blanket again.

Nella 10-18-2008 07:23 AM

It's also my favorite season. :) Summer's a bummer.

Yes, my family's been spending time in Florida for a project my dad's working on. They told me the humidity is terrible.

GorePhobia 10-18-2008 03:28 PM

This and Spring are my two favorite seasons.

I do enjoy the fall much more though. Especially because of the Halloween season.

Vodstok 10-18-2008 03:34 PM

Bree and I are all about the fall, it is the number 1 common thread between us, to the point that both of us have Halloween as our favorite holiday, our daughter's middle name is Autumn, and we got married in October. :D

pinkfloyd45769 10-18-2008 05:46 PM

Thats a nice lil thing Vod:)

BAM.....I'm back baby

Despare 10-18-2008 09:54 PM

I'm with you MM, I just let my dog out and there's a nice little chill to the air tonight. I love the sound of dead leaves crunching as I walk around and the windblown trees rustling in the night. I usually take her out late with a cup of hot spiced cider... good times.

novakru 10-19-2008 07:32 AM

Pulling out the warm clothes and extra blankets.
Putting up Halloween decorations.
The air losing it's humidity.Tan lines fading.
The darkness coming sooner and leaving later.
The color green bleeding away....

It's a bit bittersweet for me.
I love summer, I would be one of those people who has a house right ON the beach no matter what tragedy can befall it, if I were rolling in dough:)

*That's your reason #3 Rayne= they don't care:) *

pinkfloyd45769 10-19-2008 08:01 AM

It is a little bittersweet i guess, the tan lines fading...that makes me sad:(

La Chat Noire 10-19-2008 09:42 AM

I love fall, but it's so short lived. The trees here are almost all bare already and we had a huge frost last night. I definitely haven't missed having to scrape off my car.

ferretchucker 10-19-2008 09:42 AM

Halloween decorations already?

They don't tend to be put up here til at the earliest the 27th.

pinkfloyd45769 10-19-2008 10:13 AM

We draw faces on our pumpkins and sit them on the porch...We don't carve and light them until Halloween day, so they don't rot

"Halloween DAY" sounds soooo wrong, but we like to have them ready by the time night comes :)

pinkfloyd45769 10-19-2008 10:29 AM

I hate carving pumpkins,i make a huge mess.

ferretchucker 10-19-2008 10:30 AM

I love cutting that hole in the top and reaching in, pulling the guts out. I never make the hole bigger than my hand, so I can just get it in, but can't see. It kinda feels like pulling someone's brains out.

I love this time of year too. When I took my dog out this morning, the ground was crunchy cuz the dew froze overnight. Crunchy with all the leaves on the ground too, but the frozen dew makes a different kind of crunch.

Someone here used to have their title or bio as "I'm crunchy", but it was a long time ago and I don't remember who it was, but I always liked that.

Now that I'm in an apartment with a deck, I feel like decorating again. So I wrapped lights around my deck railing and hung a big spider out there.

I origianaly had the spider looking like he was crawling over the top of my lawn chair, but you couldn't see it well enough from the ground outside, so I tied him to the vertical posts on the deck. So much fun. :)

Rayne - Drawing faces on the pumpkins until the actual "day" is a great idea to keep them from rotting. Never thought of that. And I love roasting the pumpkins seeds. Tasty.

Yeah this is my second favorite time of year, the first being winter.I love it too when the ground crunches like that.I also think like MM said when the leaves drop and the leaves on the tress die is pretty. It sucks that my mom or my grandma don't celebrate halloween. My aunt and uncle still dress up though.(On my mothers side). So i might dress up.I don't know yet.I want to decorate though.I've never carved a pumpkin either.EVER.Nor have a ate roasted pumpkin seeds.

Great thread MM.
