The Worst Horror Movies Tournament

Well I have been working on this for quite awhile now. And although I have a good enough starter list all ready on my Excel worksheet, I would still like to have a few more suggestions from you folks.

Except Rayne. I know she loves even the bad ones, and she wont have many suggestions for this particular endeavour. :p

This will start once I have plenty of filthy stinkers to fill the coffers. Then we will let the scum out and vote for the worser of the two (or three) stinkers till we find the ABSOLUTE WORST horror movie EVER MADE.

So ummm yeah, let the suggestions start rolling in!

hammerfan 10-15-2008 12:26 PM

Right off the top of my head, 13th Child: Legend of the Jersey Devil

Posher778 10-15-2008 12:27 PM

I gotta say.... It's fairly predictable how this will turn out. While not everyone's opinion, House of the Dead really does hold an exceedingly high ranking for worst horror film, along with Manos: The Hands of Fate. Just a thought.

_____V_____ 10-15-2008 12:29 PM

You will be surprised by the number of fans who actually adore House of the Dead! Not to mention that some of them think its a very decent and competent Uwe Boll effort. I don't think it will take the crown, but it would be a pretty strong contender no doubt.

And so would be...uhm...The Village.

urgeok2 10-15-2008 12:32 PM

it'll still be interesting to see what people put forward.

the only problem is most people - especially the younger members wont have seen some of the most truely horrible ones - because they are hard to find..
(if they were good - they'd be everywhere)

i think thats why a lot of good films hget beat by lesser films in tourneys - because people who havent seen them vote for the one they have ...

a night to dismember is the worst i've ever seen. and i've seen a huge honking pile of bad movies (i own a lot of them)

one more thought - maybe there should be some parameters .. i.e. budget ..

i could make the worst horror movie of all times when i get home and win this thing ... we should restrict it to budget/studio films...(ones almost everyone has heard of)

Doc Faustus 10-15-2008 12:33 PM

Anything by Todd Sheets. Everything by Todd Sheets. Uwe Boll at least has some budget and the actors in his movies have got to be having fun, otherwise, they wouldn't do it. I would also like to add the abyssmal Track of the Moonbeast, the clueless the Offseason (with a misused Angus Scrimm)and the terminally stupid Red Riding Hood.

jenna26 10-15-2008 12:36 PM

Ooh looking forward to this one....;) Zombie Nation!

I have plenty. But anyway, I agree with Urge, there is bad and then there is....BAD. I often find funny what others consider the worst movie ever, because well, I have seen so much worse. ;)

Very valid point. Let's see if we can have enough of the stinkers which are quite notorious in the genre.

Ones like Jason Goes To Hell, Halloween Resurrection, Jaws The Revenge, Freddy's Dead: Final Nightmare, Exorcist II hmm...there are plenty of "popular" horror stinkers, come to think of it. :D

Anyway, keep em coming! And rack your brains for the stinkiest ones you ever saw, and which made you almost spoon your eyes out!! :)

Festered 10-15-2008 12:39 PM

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, The Thing with 2 Heads, Trog, Abbott and Costello meet anything, Eegah, Godmonster of Indian Flats, Equinox, She Freak, Queen of Outer Space.

Papillon Noir 10-15-2008 12:44 PM

Troll 2 immediately comes to mind, though most horror movies from the 80's that were sequels should be on that list.

illdojo 10-15-2008 12:50 PM

Jeepers Creepers 1&2
The Happening
Boogeyman
TCM 4: The Next Generation
Leprechaun
Bloody Murder
House of the Dead

Vodstok 10-15-2008 12:53 PM

Troll 1 for that matter.
The Stuff. I love it, but it was still crap.
Sleepaway camp is a pile of garbage except for the closing scene. it goes from d-grade slasher to a-list exorcist style "AHHHHHHH" in one camera cut.

Doc Faustus 10-15-2008 12:55 PM

Head of the Family. Shrunken Heads. The Devil Bat.

AUSTIN316426808 10-15-2008 12:56 PM

Nobody Loves Alice
Homecoming
Pinata/Survival Island/Demon Island

ferretchucker 10-15-2008 12:59 PM

Every Friday the 13th after 4.

neverending 10-15-2008 01:00 PM

John Carpenter's Vampires
9th Gate.

Definitely....

C.H.U.D. II: Bud the Chud
Sleepy Hollow High
Fear of Clowns

The_Return 10-15-2008 01:03 PM

Oooooo....I like the sounds of this one!!

Jigsaw
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330489/

Totem
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0211050/

Near Death
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371846/

The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies!!?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057181/

(A lot of people defend that one by putting it under the "so-bad-its-good" banner. Even though it probably has the greatest title of all time, the movie has NO redeeming qualities. I couldn't even laugh at it.)

Essence of Echoes
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0295244/

The Covenant
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475944/

(Not sure if you can really count that as horror...but it definitely counts as God-fucking-awful)

I left off the "so bad they're good" ones and just went for the worst of the worst. If we're keeping the fun kind of garbage in here, you can't forget:

- House of the Dead
- Killer Klowns from Outer Space
- Puppet Master vs. Demonic Toys
- ANYTHING by Ed Wood (Plan 9 being the obvious)
- Dark Heritage: The Final Descendant (this one actually transcends "bad" and goes on to a whole other plain of being)

I can come up with more if you're so inclined :D

jenna26 10-15-2008 01:04 PM

Dark Harvest 2: The Maize

True enough...:D

And since I just dislike these two movies so much, I have to mention them...

The Haunting ( remake)
Black Christmas (remake)

Also....
House of Blood
Satanic
Brutal

woah,woah,woah.....Trog and The Thing With Two Heads are masterpieces.

wait.....is The Thing With Two Heads the one with Rosy Greer or Bruce Dern?

don't matter, both of them are great

neverending 10-15-2008 01:51 PM

Yah, I think I'm gonna get more frustrated with this tournament than I usually do.

Despare 10-15-2008 01:53 PM

Island of the Dead, I think that was the name of it, killer flies if I remember correctly.

Incredible 2 Headed Transplant was the one with Dern. I'll add that to my suggestions too. :D

i think its a bit of a fun watch. not saying its good, but its watchable.

throw Shriek Of the Mutilated in there somewhere. thats an all around awful film, with no entertainment value.

I agree. I bought the Zombie Bloodbath trilogy and each film sucked enormously, and I'm a fan of movies with that kind of budget too!

Il Cartaio. If anybody but Argento directed it, it would be a shitty movie, but since Argento directed it, it's a shitty Argento movie and that pissed me off. Also, Attack of the Giant Leeches. Perhaps it's so bad it's good, then it goes around to bad again. Not too much fun to be had. Also, Stanley. How did they do that one wrong? A ripoff with Willard about a vengeful Native American Vietnam vet and his snakes and they STILL messed it up.

The Mothman 10-15-2008 02:34 PM

I'd add Feeding the Masses in there too. nice attempt at a political twist on a zombie movie, epic fail as a movie itself.

Roderick Usher 10-15-2008 02:59 PM

High Tension
The Revenants
The Unseen
Don't Go Into the Woods
I Know What You Did Last Summer
Van Helsing
Captivity
The Craft
Dr. Giggles

Every PG13 Remake that has come out in the past decade

I wouldn't say I love it, but I definitely enjoyed it a lot more than most people around here. All the hate for it is undeserved for sure.

neverending 10-15-2008 05:04 PM

Anything with Paris Hilton in it.

Hopefully, that will remain a very small list.
