BIG FAN! I really enjoyed the new gta for Xbox360 i think its very good quality and very interesting. I also am a big fan of san andreas too. A while back i played to first ones and i thought they really sucked very poor quality but probably back in the day they were as cool as they are now.

VampiricClown 10-11-2008 11:38 AM

I have Grand Theft Auto III. It was fun when it first came out, but it doesn't hold up very well anymore.

I've been meaning to pick up the new one.

Same here. Remember "back in the day" when GTA and TC (true crime) were both rival series. I think True Crime Streets of LA was good. I guess my favorite "throwback" GTA is GTA 3 or Vice City.

Strangely enough, though it's been 4 years, GTA San Andreas is still a "hot" GTA and I still pay it on a regular basis...though the new one is out. One of my friends loves the prostitute "upgrade" in the new one. How they don't simply wear skimpy clothes and "flaunt" at you...more realistic than ever....guys

I have True Crime: Streets Of L.A., on Xbox. That's a fun, if very challenging, game. Not quite as free-roam like, though.

Yeah me too, it's on every system right, not just the ps3 and xboz360 becasue my actual game systems are at home since I'm in college. Like an idiot, I just brought my psp.

ManchestrMorgue 10-11-2008 04:13 PM

I did enjoy GTA IV for a while there. Haven't played it recently though. Have to dig it back up and finish it off.

I liked GTA III a lot at the time.

Never really liked GTA:SA that much. Don't know why - just couldn't get into it. I know it seems to be most people's favourite. Maybe I should give it a go again some time.

At the time, the original GTA and GTA:London was fun, but it doesn't really hold up that well anymore.

Despare 10-11-2008 04:25 PM

I've liked all the GTA games, I was disappointing that IV didn't have a soundtrack/box set available. I've got Vice City's and San Andreas' and was hoping to get the next one...

Freak 10-11-2008 07:18 PM

Been a fan ever since GTA III.Played the first two but didn't really get into them that much.My favorite has to be San Andreas. The new one is pretty sweet but I feel like it could have been better.

Me as well...GTA III was the best retro GTA I think. But in 04, SA set the bar pretty high and elevated the GTA universe and all other videogames similar to it. Also following SA graphics and audio skyrocketed in terms of quality. Hence the upgrade in Halo (I think) Call of Duty, etc. Especially once Zbox 360 hit the scene.

While I appreciated the colorful violence, satirical humour and sandbox gameplay of the GTA series I wouldn't say I was a fan until GTA 4. I have sledom played such a thought provoking and emotionally challenging game. Niko Bellic rocked meh proverbial socks. It takes a pretty significant departure for the series, entertainment in GTA 3 often involved how many police offices you could kill with a single kamikaze helicopter crash, but in GTA 4 you don't do that, oh you CAN but you'd feel silly.

You actually avoid pedestrians, instead of splatting them across the pavement, you try to avoid killing police if you can and it still retains it's extremely clever and satirical social commentary.

Hmm..I haven't got GTA 4 yet, but plan on it eventually. I hear what you're saying but when it comes to games, I have to experience things before I place my judgment on them.

re93animator 10-13-2008 12:21 AM

The old gta games were always very enjoyable for a few hours but blowing up cars with rocket launchers as fun as it sounds did lose its spark sometimes. GTA4 hooked me in the first time I played it, and yes it is more realistic than its predecessors, but not too realistic to the point that its not enjoyable. Its still very enjoyable, and I do still like blowing up crap from time to time, but if I ever get tired the story in gta4 is remarkable, at least compared to the previous versions. I recommend any gamer to try it as it is a big improvement over the previous versions. At least I think so.;)

I own GTA 1, GTA London, GTA 2, GTA 3, GTA Vice City, GTA Liberty City Stories, GTA Vice City Stories & GTA IV.

I've played nearly every game, all but GTA Advance.

I'm a huge fan.

I didn't see GTA SA in your post. How come?

Wow....way bigger of a fan than me...I should go get the collection

Phalanx 10-13-2008 04:53 PM

I've followed the series.
I think my favourite one at the time was VICE CITY - Although had a look at it again for the first time in a couple of years yesterday, and having played GTA:SA, GTA4, and the two "stories" PS2 ports, it was kind of showing its age.
I just don't know if I can get used to the old controls and visuals again...dammit, I really liked it too.

#4 personally I don't like that much, great looking game and the new combat/shooting system both on foot and in-car is brilliant - but in all honesty I think that throwing that much realism into it took a step back from the craziness and fun that was the GTA series.
I think what they need to do now is remake and/or sequel the chapters in the former titles...

jugchord 10-13-2008 05:02 PM

San Andreas is my favorite.

I think a lot of people feel that way, there was quite an uproar about 4 and how disappointing it was for some of the series fans. It did go a different direction, and for someone like myself that DIDN'T enjoy the crazy larger then life gameplay of the series, it was a breath of fresh air but I can understand where the disappointment of many came from. It doesn't deliver a similar palying expierence to the games preceding it.

There's always Saints Row 2, you can make yourself a posse of Ninjas or Pirates or Nijupirates.

Love GTA games and GTA 4 was amazing.

The Mothman 10-16-2008 10:09 PM

GTA 4 was a blast, got %100 completion. Duck and cover gameplay was the way to go.

n3wt 10-18-2008 03:08 AM

Awesome Im not sure how much I got, Iknow I didnt get all those bastard pigeons lol

CrimsonFiend138 10-22-2008 08:59 PM

Love them. They were just so open and real. I played GTA 2 and even tho it sucked(top-down view) it was open and you could choose which gang you wanted to work for. Then GTA 3 game out and holy shit. Open world 3-d graphics. Loved Vice city but not an 80's fan.

I've played SA like 7 times through and that game is still amazing. Don't have a 360 but Loved GTA 4 so far and it's so real now. Rockstar is amazing. I always hated some of the little flaws (you know GTA flaws) and every game has them but GREAT series. I don't hate knock-offs either. True crime, saints row are all fun.

I wished they would have done more gang oriented mission for a while instead of cutting it a little short.

I'm so glad they had the duck and cover in GTA too.

its a pain in the ass, lemme tell ya.

CrimsonFiend138 10-24-2008 10:05 AM

I wish they would go back to the OLD gta's where you could decide which gang you wanted to work for. Well I didn't play all the way through but from what I did you could work for, THE MAFIA and the TRIADS would hate you more.

I love the stories but they need to let you decide who you work for.

I think that's tied with the gang style the other's were talking about thogh

They touched on that with most of the later series too, no?
Especially SA - although I see what you mean, you were what you were...etc...not much choice. I guess it's more realistic that way.

Almost finished with GTA4 now...been slowly moving through it...it's fun, and a great game, but still missing some of the outright madness of the last few.

CrimsonFiend138 10-25-2008 02:08 PM

I mean just separate branches and taking it all the way to the end instead of getting screwed by Mr. Leone. I was really sad when Mr. Leone turned on me in GTA 3. I don't care for the epic storytelling as compraed to just living with one gang the entire way through. Then next time try a different path.

It would be a weird combo but kind of like Morrowind Elder scrolls, oblivion Etc. You could work for the Fighters Guild,Mages Guild,Thieves, empire(or you could work for all of them. You had choices. It would also be cool if they did the whole interactive like making you own choices in conversations and stuff. They kinda touched on it with to kill or not to kill scenarios.

The GTA franchise has been featured on the Playstation, XBox, PC, 360, Dreamcast, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, PSP, and it's coming to the DS...

Phalanx 12-14-2008 04:18 PM

I know.
Quote:

Point still stands.

GTA1: PC, PS1, crappy gbc port.
GTA London: PC, PS
GTA London '61: PC
GTA2: PC, PS1, dreamcast
GTA3: PS2, PC, XBOX
GTAVC: PC, PS2, XBOX
GTA Advance: GBA
GTASA: PC, PS2, XBOX
GTA:LCS PSP, PS2
GTS:VCS PSP, PS2
GTA4: PS3, X360, later PC

...as you can see, more GTA games have been across the playstation than any other console/system. To complain about a game being made available to ANY system is stupid and childish, especially when it's not an exclusive...but to say it sucks on account of continuing the obvious tradition as well, guys a little retarded. All he practically posts is lists of music and negative/inane bullshit anyways...not a surprise.
