The Regional Thread: Mid-Atlantic
Hey, I got inspired from the NEW ENGLAND regional thread, so I figured I'd make one for the Mid Atlantic. So anyone from New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, DC, New Jersey, and Delaware feel free to post here. We are the original "melting pot" for industry and immigration.
Shout outs to : New York Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Giants, Jets, and Rangers Philadelphia Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, Flyers; Pittsburgh Pirates & Steelers; Baltimore Ravens, Orioles, and Blasts; Washington Nationals, Capitals, Wizards (though you guys "stole" the bullets from Bmore, it's all good), and Redskins; New Jersey Nets. :) * Note no disrespect to NJ or DE--I don't think you all have as many professional teams as some states (though I know many teams train or practice in your states. Like Redskins train in VA but plan in Landover, Maryland, Jets are in Jersey, etc) |
From Baltimore here as well, though not really a sports fan except for the occasional O's game.
So are you from the city or really the "Baltimore Area"? :p |
The City. Born and raised.
410 + 443 :D |
Oh, wow, look at the rip-off thread ;)
I have never been to Maryland, but I figured Baltimore must have some good points Duff from Ace of cakes really seems to like it there :) |
Really? I grew up in the county, but I live in Chas Village now. What neighborhood are you in?
|
Cool. Charles Village. I have a few friends from there.
I'm Near Johns Hopkins...East Side |

Who's that? And "rip-off thread"? Thought I said this was the "inspired" thread....but very nice....very nice indeed. |

It's a really great town, but you have to know where to go, because a lot of the best places aren't really advertised. Quote:

Monument. I was born in the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
My cousin lives across the Street from Bayview. |

Not really. But no neighborhood's completely perfect, right?
Actually for over 30 years or so, it was a great neighborhood. Many of the physicans that worked over there at the time always commuted from the county when they worked. However as the mid '90s came around teens growing up near there whom had friends from "bad neighborhoods" and adults who hung out with "wrong crowds" drew "other" parties over and things became a "bit rough." But it's mostly the areas near "Caroline St. 33rd St. & Greemmount Ave as the "worst parts of East Side", not my particular part; Although people argue that it's headed towards a "bad direction" mostly becomes Johns Hopkins is trying to buy out most of the people out...especially Caroline , Washington, Orleans and McEldery. You know they're the greatest hospital in the country and arguably the world--so they're trying to make it bigger. Notice how there's a JHU, a JHU Med Campus & Undergrad, JH Hospital, JH Bayview Hospital, etc. ? |

I'm evil like that. |

I know. I got it. I was playing along. |

Johns Hopkins is so overrated. I know, I work for JHU. We have so many problems, but everything is in a name no matter what it's actually like. |
Love CHARM CITY. I used to play gigs in Fells Point regularly (Max's on Broadway)
I'm a D.C. boy myself -but after 11 years in California I don't think I could ever move back there. |

But I agree...nothing's "perfect," so despite their notoriety, I'm sure they've received complaints--perhaps mostly from workers though more so than patients. I hear they intentionally don't operate as effectively on a patient depending on what kind of health insurance they have. But that's another story... |
