Stephen King 09-22-2008 11:31 AM

It, Cujo, Pet Semetary 1, Pet Semetary 2?

What's the best of Stephen Kings movies? Cujo? It? Pet Semetary 1, Pet Semetary 2? You decide.

SinfulEyez 09-22-2008 11:32 AM

Hmmm, well my pick would be either IT or Pet Semetary

jaybomb 09-22-2008 11:34 AM

pet semetary 2 isn't one of his movies

The_Return 09-22-2008 12:48 PM

The Shining, The Mist, Needful Things, Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile...

Not in any particular order.

La Chat Noire 09-22-2008 01:36 PM

The Shining was the best of his work I think, but Pet Semetary scared me more because I saw it when I was much younger.

Festered 09-22-2008 03:00 PM

Shawshank Redemption, Carrie, The Green Mile, Salem's Lot, The Shining(orig.)

Elvis_Christ 09-22-2008 06:32 PM

Maximum Overdrive

.... just thinking of the soundtrack has me banging my head and it has people being attacked by a vending machine firing soda cans :D

And the greatest Stephen King cameo line ever:

"Honey, this bank machine just called me an asshole."

Cradle of Death 09-23-2008 08:28 AM

Shawshank is one of my all-time favorite movies, so it gets the nod for King's best adaptation.

It was the best made for TV movie

Pet Semetary scared me the most

So many great movies to choose from & a few stinkers

Roderick Usher 09-23-2008 08:39 AM

Carrie
The Mist

Devil-Hunter 09-23-2008 08:56 AM

My favourite Stephen King movie is:

People under the stairs
Stand by me

My mistake i mistook King for Craven i mean ROSE RED.

Vodstok 09-23-2008 09:37 AM

:) I never pass an opportunity to tell people they are wrong :D

I actually liked Rose red a lot more than I expected. Nancy travis made a good psycho

The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer though... Holy boring batman... (although it is a derivation from Rose Red and not from Stephen King)

Carrie,The Green Mile,The Mist.
IT has never scared me and to tell ya the truth the fucking clown gets on my nerves;)

ferretchucker 11-06-2008 08:40 AM

IT, Green Mile and The Shining.

Nella 11-06-2008 08:48 AM

The Shawshank Redemption needs to go on my favorite movies of all time list.

Misery
The Shining (1980)
Carrie (70's)
Cujo
Secret Window

None of the movies scared me a whole lot. Certain scenes made me jump, though. I've watched Misery and The Shining a lot and I've also read the books. I think I read Carrie when I was pretty young but I'm pretty forgetful.

re93animator 11-06-2008 09:16 AM

I watch and read Stephen King routinely.;)

Favorite is The Shining as I think this is one of the only ones that beats the story. The Mist is a close call though. Damn, that ending does it for me. One of the best endings ever put on film.

Others I liked would be:
Misery
Shawshank

Green Mile
Secret Window
The Stand
Dreamcatcher

I didnt really like It, Cujo, or Pet Semetary that much. I guess Pet Semetary is my favorite out of the bunch though.

focker 11-07-2008 01:58 AM

The Shining is one of my all time favorites, finally watched The Mist and that was an awesome movie, also

The Green Mile
Misery
Pet Semetary

Roderick Usher 11-07-2008 08:27 AM

Misery is pretty sweet

hacelikewhoa 11-07-2008 03:14 PM

the shining, misery, green mile, carrie, children of the corn!, it, pet sematary, stand by me, The Shawshank Redemption, dream catcher

Dream Warrior 11-18-2008 02:34 PM

Misery, Annie Wilkes has to be one of the most terrifying movie characters of all time. This is my favorite Stephen King movie.

Pet Semetary
Carrie
The Shinning
IT
Shawshank- Awsome!

Just to name a few, Im a long time admirer of Stephen King adaptation's. Great book's dont always make great movie's, in this case they do.

And here I thought I was the only person in the world that liked this movie.

sfear 11-21-2008 12:18 PM

The Shining
Storm of the Century

Eat Horror 11-22-2008 11:08 AM

Kubrick should get the credit for The Shining, the more faithful to King's story version was rubbish.

I'd go with Carrie but Pet Semetary and It both have their moments.

He's been responsible for some pretty bad movies too, like Maximum Overdrive which he directed himself.

ferretchucker 11-23-2008 02:37 AM

I forgot Misery! That must be a sin or something. Great story.

freddy69 12-14-2008 02:21 PM

Its got a small following I reckon :D

I dig a lot of shit like that... my collection has heaps of stuff 99% of people consider "bad" :)

Christine was a great SK adaption and one of Carpenter's best flicks.

orangestar 12-14-2008 10:00 PM

Pet Sematary is the best King adaptation, and just a great horror movie in general. I was also very pleasantly surprised by The Mist.

freddy69 12-17-2008 01:46 PM

cujo
