Good Morning HDC!

Welcome to THE HDC AWARDS 2007-2008 version, brought to you by NeverEnding Wonder Radio, and yours truly.

As you all know, this annual event is held every year to honor the best (and worst) of HDC in the past year.

It has been quite an eventful year since last Halloween. Old members have returned, several new members with very good knowledge of horror (and other genres) have joined up, and generally, HDC has been a blossoming destination of the true horror fan again. In this, the HDC comeback year, let's find out who all made this place a rivetting and flourishing throb of activity.

All of you are invited to submit your entries for the following categories :-

In addition to the above, there are 2 special awards which will be awarded unanimously on the actual Awards night (or day).

So without further delay, put your thinking caps on, and send off the entries to me - either through PMs or email me at [email protected], mentioning your HDC nickname and having the Subject "My Entry for HDC Awards 2008."

Entries will be accepted starting from this moment, till Midnight of Friday, 26th September, 2008.

What's considered a "Newbie Welcome Wagon"? - A thread started in the New Member Forum?

What is the difference between post whore and site whore?

Not exactly.

We had a "Best Newbie Flamer" award in the yesteryears, in the times of Drac and others who were notorious flamers. That kinda flaming and ribbing has gone down drastically in recent times, so that award has been changed.

Newbie Welcome Wagon - The best member who welcomes the most noobs warm-heartedly, and urges them to stay.


Post whore - A member who sits around (almost) all day/night, or most of the time, and scores a lot of posts throughout the entire day (and night). Usually the "Number of posts per day" is a good indication of that.

Site whore - Someone who hangs around a lot, generally advertises his/her own site most of the time, and talks about his own works, websites, hobbies, etc. etc. Includes attention-seeking thread-makers, the people who say "I, me, mine..." a lot...you get the idea.

Ah, okay... I know who should be site whore then...lol...

Can we nominate somebody's PET as Weirdest Member?

Nope, unless the pet is an actual bonafide member of HDC. :p

Agreed. Some really good categories in there, and some there's no question of who deserves them.

Entries have started pouring in - 3 more have come in, the latest one from Austin.

This edition is going to be more popular than I thought it would be...

Whoa...5 more entries have blazed their way into my PM box. Thats a total of 9 entries by now.

I ll start sorting through them and working on the Awards later tonight...but I can safely say this right now, after rummaging through some of the PMs...

This year, each category is being HOTLY contested, and there are going to be PLENTY of surprise winners!

This will be a rocking HDC Awards session, folks! :cool:

And into the 3rd day of polling for the Awards...the sorting is pretty deep by now, and I can give you somewhat of an update on each Award's big runners :-


1) Most Relevant Poster - Has a leader, and a contender breathing down their neck.

2) Most Irrelevant Poster - Same as above, but it isnt the winner of the last 3 years!

3) Most Outstanding New Member - This one looks like a huge one-horse race right now...

4) Funniest Member - No prizes for guessing who's leading, but a leading contender of yesteryears is surprisingly NOT there!

5) Best Signature - Very hotly contested encounter here.

6) Best Avatar - Same as above, with the leader leading by a whisker.

7) Biggest Post Whore - Two members are duking it out for this one right now.

8) Most Missed Member - Again, no prizes for guessing who's leading.

9) Most Absent Member - See Best Avatar.

10) Best Topic Starter - Another huge one-horse race...

11) Most Knowledgable in Horror Films - Has a leader, but plenty of strong contenders just behind...

12) Best Horror Movie Recommender - is a VERY close fight, with a 3-way TIE right now.

13) Biggest Troublemaker - Hotly contested, with a two-way TIE in the lead.

14) Biggest Site Whore - 2 members are going strong in this one.

15) Best Newbie Welcome-Wagon - Very close battle, no clear leaders yet.

16) Weirdest Member - Clear leader, but who knows...
