Weirdest Asian Horror Movie

Hey, I'm new to this forum so I thought I should start off with a random little thread.

What's the weirdest Asian horror you've ever seen? My choice is probably gonna be 'Tetsuo: The Iron Man', mainly because I've never seen any other film like it :). So what about you guys?

Tetsuo is definitely in the top 3.

But I say "Uzumaki".

Despare 09-03-2008 09:30 AM

I'd say Happiness of the Katikuris or Visitor Q have to be on the list.

The Mothman 09-03-2008 10:23 AM

Tetsuo or Meatball Machine

roshiq 09-03-2008 11:58 AM

Takashi Mike's Gozu

Good GOD I need to see Happiness of the Katikuris... Waiting for it to be available on Netflix.

For me, I would have to name Visitor Q and Gozu. Gozu is one of my personal favorite movies of all time.

I feel as though Tetsuo should be up there, but it reminded me too much of Eraserhead, so I didn't feel it that weird since I had already seen Eraserhead (whether or not that makes sense).

Yeah, and Happiness is weird in such a different way than Tetsuo. I really wish you'd watch it and tell me what you think!

crazy lips and strange circus LOL :)

ChronoGrl 09-05-2008 05:22 AM

I really want to see Strange Circus. Almost bought it this weekend on a whim, actually...

It's at the top of my Netflix queue and has been for at least a month now, but it has a "very long wait..." so who knows how long it'll be until it's "available."

Part of me just wants to go out and buy it, but I'm hesitant to spend the money on a DVD that I might not like (not to mention, even on Ebay it's pretty expensive)... Is it worth buying? I loved Gozu and Visitor Q... I also love musicals...

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about Strange Circus, that was pretty disturbing, especially the whole sexual abuse thing, which is a big part of this movie. Still was an awesome film though.

I would buy it but it's so surreal that it's hard to suggest that anybody straight up buy it without watching it.

Gozu, hands down. Half of it wont make sense to the casual viewer.

Strange Circus is mildly disturbing. I won't call it weird, unless we are talking Gozu-esque themes and tones in a movie.

There's an older movie called Moju, aka Blind Beast, which has a very weird and creepy second half. Check that out.

Blind Beast Vs. Killer Dwarf is weirder, but nowhere near as good.

Parasite Eve. Loved the game, loved the movie. Very mitrochondrial.

Devil-Hunter 09-17-2008 05:57 AM

Im not sure If It asian but anyways the film is called Entrails of a beautiful woman.

mafia princess 09-21-2008 04:19 AM

Uzumaki and Happiness of the Katakuris. Oh, and the Stewardess was a bit odd as well.

Crazy Lips

Crazy Lips starts off telling the eerie tale of a woman who's brother is convicted of grisly murder. It evolves beyond that to the point of the family of the brother enlisting the help of two psychics to help them prove the brother's innocence. There are some truly terrifying and disturbing things that occur at this point, all of which do nothing to prepare you for what is to come...musical numbers, kung-fu, porn, and some really weird comedy stuff that I have no idea what to classify it as. Let's just say it involves adult "toys" and bloody gore. It is just so twisted and bizarre that it is to the point of hilarity no other movie has ever reached.

probably 'Audition'

great story but by the end if you're not feeling sick there's something wrong with you.

Guinea Pig 6: Devil Woman Doctor

Za ginipiggu 6: Peter no akuma no joi-san (1990) is the story about a female doctor who is a transvestite, played by real-life Japanese transvestite Shinnosuke Ikehata. The film takes the form of several 'sketches' in which she treats her patients (often mutilating or killing them in the process). This episode shifted the tone of the series from graphic horror to extremely violent slapstick comedy.

Not only weird, but also pretty stupid...

Spiral was the weirdest I've ever seen. I will have to give some of the movies listed in thread a go, sometime.

Scythe 01-30-2016 09:00 AM

The easy answer, and one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen.

I've seen my fair share of weird Asian horror, but one of the most bizarre ones was probably Ekusute (Exte: Hair Extensions)

Tetsuo. It was a very bad idea to watch it before sleeping.
