Mirrors

Im a big Aja fan, this seems to stray away from the stuff he's done before, looks like he's going for scares rather than shock with this one. It's getting mixed reviews, and i think it just opened in theaters today. does any plan on seeing it/has seen it? Rod, dont bother posting, we all know how you feel about this guy. :) ;)

VampiricClown 08-15-2008 04:42 PM

I may go see it Monday. I'll write back if I do.

The_Return 08-15-2008 07:48 PM

I've been WAY to busy to see much in theatres lately, but hopefully I'll get to check this one out - looks really cool.

ChronoGrl 08-16-2008 04:37 AM

As soon as I realized that it was the guy who did Haute Tension and the remake of Hills Have Eyes, I knew that I had to check this one out.

Maybe I'll grab the boyfriend and go sometime this week. I'm hoping that this turns out to be a nice little horror movie.

Have you seen Furia? Any good?

The Mothman 08-16-2008 08:25 AM

actually no, last time i checked for it on amazon i wasnt there, but now it is, i might check it out.

I am pretty curious from all the trailers and their offerings. Plus, it has Keifer Sutherland. This looks like a pretty good atmospheric spookfest.

I ll be checking it out for sure.

Let me know how it is... I'm pretty intrigued.

unfortunately this movie looks boring from the commercials on tv. i wish everyone would watch the red band trailer cause it makes it scary.

Ahhh, definitely creepy. Though now I feel as though I've seen the whole movie.

I'm a sucker, though. I'll probably still see this one in the theater.

Sounds like what a few people I've talked to it about have seen. I'll track it down and have a look for myself anyways cuz I dug his other flicks and wanna see Keifer Sutherland back in action.

I'll try and check out the Koren original first...

Thanks Fortunato. The weaknesses that you identified I was pretty concerned would ruin the film (not going to lie - when I first saw the ads I thought the movie was going to be awful; it was the director who turned it around for me). Since I pretty much trust your taste implicitly, I'll save my money and rent it instead.

Elvis - Let me know what you think about the original... From what I understand, Mirrors takes the concept as opposed to doing an all-out remake. However, I am starting to adore Korean horror, so let me know if it's worth checking out.

La Chat Noire 08-17-2008 02:47 PM

Thanks for the review Fortunato. I was thinking of seeing it tomorrow but now I'm thinking of just catching The Dark Knight again instead.

Amalthea_unicorn 08-17-2008 10:53 PM

I might check it out too.

I have seen the original lately & it was pretty good. Though somewhat disappointed with the final climax at the store but I love the last scene of the film. From the trailer of Aja's version it looks quite different. Probably Aja has done some extensive work with the story and now it seems that wouldn't go well.
