Green Lantern - the movie
August 14, 2008
Warner Bros. reportedly has a script for a live-action Green Lantern movie that they are happy with, so much so that they are said to be looking to replace its current director with a bigger and more experienced name filmmaker. According to IESB, the script by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green, "if greenlit, is a sure-fire hit for fan boys, but in scale it's big, VERY big, and we are hearing rumors that it may be too big for the director currently attached, Greg Berlanti. But who would the studio trust to take on a franchise of this size?" The site claims that some execs at Warners are eyeing George Miller to take over the reins of Green Lantern. Miller had long been attached to direct the studio's Justice League of America movie, but IESB claims that project is not going to move forward despite recent rumors to the contrary. The reason, they claim, is the astounding success of The Dark Knight and the studio's apprehension in possibly alienating director Christopher Nolan or Batman star Christian Bale from doing a third Batman movie by including the Caped Crusader in JLA. The report only states that execs are thinking of Miller for the Green Lantern job, not that he has actually been approached about it. The current Green Lantern script is said to include Hal Jordan, Sinestro, Abin Sur and Guy Gardner. |
Yessss!!!
Now, Nathan Fillion needs to get out there and start campaigning for the role. |
...surprises me that nobody seems to care about this.
|
I do.
If done in the right manner, this one could be much bigger than The Dark Knight itself. With the movie and Hal Jordan's character, there is so much to explore for the people at DC and Warner Bros. I am hoping this would be a really big project, with a killer script and kickass direction. |
Let me rephrase: I'm surprised that nobody ELSE seems to care :p
Yeah, I think this could be up there with the berst of DC's projects...not a chance it'll top Dark Knight, but it should still kick a foolish amount of ass. Any ideas for casting? I've been saying for ages that Nathan Fillion (Firefly/Serenity, Slither) was born to play Hal Jordan...I'll have to put some thought into the others though... |
I didn['t post a reply because I didn't have anything substantive to say. Hal Jordan was always one of my fave DC heros. Out of all of them, it was his power I wanted- it was so imaginative. And I loved the Guardians too.
|
I care... I just didn't see this. I'm fucking pumped now.
Here's a longer article, same jist, just a bit more to it. http://screenrant.com/script-details...vie-kofi-3433/ My favorite part: Rumor has it a certain Mr. Kent might make an appearance in the film |

The Inland Empire has Struck Back with a look at the storyline for the upcoming Green Lantern movie today. Robert (he being big boss man at IESB) says the script is shit-hot - heck, it even features cameos from some other DC heroes like Superman! But more so, writers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green have gotten the character of the title character right. ‘'Also, unlike other recent superhero movies, this Green Lantern story has science fiction elements such as visiting other planets and major space battles'', writes Robert, adding that the film has the potential to be "bigger" than both "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man". It starts off with the revelation of Oa and The Central Battery with a voice over narration explaining that 1) there are extraterrestrials that protect the universe, 2) they have power rings, 3) there are thousands of Green Lanterns and 4) one of us has become one of them. We go from one part of the universe to another and find ourselves in a familiar Solar System…our own. Before I share some of the details let's do a quick character list of those we will see in the movie if this script gets the "green" light.
A few cameos include a certain mild mannered reporter from the Daily Planet, a certain college football coach with the last name of Gardner (who we are promised in the script we will see more of in the second film) and loads of other characters sure to keep fanboys orgasmic throughout. Back to the script - The story follows the traditional Hal Jordan/Green Lantern story lines to a certain degree including the battle between Legion and Abin Sur, Abin Sur's crash landing on Earth, as well as the choosing of Hal Jordan over Guy Gardner and Clark Kent. Parts are straight out of the Emerald Dawn series including Jordan's simulator being ripped out of the training center and flown to a dying Abin Sur and Hal Jordan going to Oa to help defeat Legion. The major difference is in the Sinestro character arch. I don't want to give too much away but the writers were very careful to stay true to the character without blowing their load on the first film. The other difference is also introducing Hector Hammond into the story line and making him the big threat to Earth or Gaia if you prefer. From the first major beat of the story - that is sure to bring a tear - to the revelations at the end of the movie that easily set up prequels as well as sequels this script has it all. Also, unlike other recent superhero movies, this Green Lantern story has science fiction elements such as visiting other planets and major space battles. It's a quick read and is a mere 109 pages but is action packed from the beginning to end. The script, if greenlit, is a sure-fire hit for fan boys, but in scale it's big, VERY big. |
Nobody else is interested?

Comic writer Marc Guggenheim - most famous for reinventing a newly single Peter Parker in recent editions of 'The Amazing Spider-Man', has been talking to www.comicon.com about his role as a writer on the upcoming Green Lantern movie. Guggenheim said he had been "working his ass off" on the script and that his incarnation of the hero will be an "incredibly faithful rendition of the character." He continued: "It honours everything everyone loves about the hero. We approach it from a fan's perspective. Every step of the way, we ask ourselves what we want to see and what the fans will want to see. "I think we have a script that will actually satisfy on those levels. Right now I'm just doing a rewrite for the studio with Greg (Berlanti) and Michael (Green). We'll turn that in next week. We just keep moving forward. It's really good stuff!" At present Greg Berlanti is pencilled in to helm, with recent reports suggesting that George Miller would replace him still unconfirmed. |

Look out Common! Angel the Slayer Layer is after ya' ring! David Boreanaz ("Angel", "Bones") is possibly - and I say possibly because the movie is still in the very, very, very early stages of development, and, well, read on.. - up for the role of 'The Green Lantern'. Seems Boreanaz and "Sin City" star Carla Gugino were the basis of storyboard artist and illustrator Brian Murray's concept work for the "Green Lantern" movie - Boreanaz as the emerald-coloured lead, Gugino as romantic interest Carol Ferris - drawings he was commissioned by "Green Lantern" co-writer (and potential director) Greg Berlanti to do. The drawings were presented to Warner Bros as part of Berlanti's pitch - a pitch that resulted in him getting the gig. Boreanaz, who tested for both Superman (in "Superman Returns") and 'The Thing' in "Fantastic Four", actually voiced the role of The Green Lantern in the animated DVD movie ''Justice League: The New Frontier'', in 2006. I think Boreanaz has a great look for a superhero - but is he the name the superhero flick requires? We've all seen this year that it really does help to have an A-lister under the mask... and Boreanaz, though well-known for his television work, isn't exactly a major film star; in fact, most of his movies (Bar Jamie Blanks' "Valentine") have gone straight to DVD. Still, it's possible that he may get a look-in - - and again, it's possible his Green Lantern may forever stay in paper-form. Common was most recently asked to play 'The Green Lantern' - in the recently shelved "Justice League" movie. Speaking of one-time Superhero contenders, Brendan Fraser tells VoicesOfKrypton.com that he was offered the role of Superman when J.J Abrams was onboard "Superman Returns". Though he was excited at the prospect, Fraser says his "offer" suddenly turned to "er, we like you, but we have to ask the other guys at Warner" so the decision was basically made for him. The "Mummy" actor says the film would've been a far superior one than the Bryan Singer version. "In my view, and I say this with respect, it's far superior than Bryan Singer's. J.J. had a vision that was larger. It spanned galaxies. It was Lord of the Rings.I mean, it was that huge. It was like a 3rd World War on Earth involving different planets and universes, and brotherhoods--sibling rivalry and the collision of enormous powers. I mean, come on, it wasn't smacking you over the head with a symbolic hammer till you weren't paying attention. That's how good J.J. is." |
5 BADASS REASONS WHY FANS WILL LOVE "GREEN LANTERN" (minor spoilers
Our local script expert is back again with a look at one of the most highly anticipated adaptations - Green Lantern. Superhero films always have a handful of those "badass" moments that make your jaw drop and make the film memorable. Whether it be Batman flipping Joker's semi in The Dark Knight or Tony Stark's first path of destruction in his Mark III armor, these moments will forever make moviegoers wish that they were the ones with the superpowers. Well, after taking a look at a draft of the upcoming Green Lantern script written by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, and Marc Guggenheim, here is my list of five badass reasons why fans will love the Green Lantern movie when it hits theaters in 2010. #5 - Respect for the Fans It's hard to make a film adaptation when there is almost seventy years of source material to choose from. We all know that certain compromises have to be made because certain things don't translate well from the comic book to the screen, but the writers of the Green Lantern did a damn good job of respecting their source material. The film centers around Hal Jordan, the best-known Green Lantern, and his origin story stays respectfully accurate to the comics. Hal is a test pilot, which is a huge part of the entire script, and his willpower is the driving force of the entire movie. The writers also managed to craft a great story where other key characters in the Green Lantern universe have great roles. Abin-Sur is a big part of the film's first act, Thaal Sinestro, Tomar-re and Kilowog get good screen time as well. When it comes to villains, well, I'll get to that later. But don't worry, the fans will be happy. There are also great cameos that will be nods for the fans including a quick glimpse of a football coach with the name "Gardner" on his back, and a mother of a reveal at the end of the film that I wouldn't dream of spoiling. It always makes me happy when writers include things in the script that only the fans will understand. There are plenty of badass moments in this film that will only be amazing to a smaller audience who has the knowledge of years of comic books. So if you were one of those people who got chills during Iron Man when Col. Rhodes saw the Mark II armor and muttered, "Next time baby" get ready for some spine tingling chills during Green Lantern. These writers have done a damn good job staying close to the heart of the Green Lantern universe. Don't be worried about "organic webshooter-like" departures from the comics in this. #4 - A Killer Dogfight Look, airplanes fighting other airplanes is badass. Dogfights just look cool. And in this movie, damn do we get a cool one. Hal Jordan's a test pilot and we all know he's supposed to be a damn good one. In this movie we're going to get plenty of flying goodness. So get ready for a scene in the first act of the film where Hal goes head to head with three other fully automated and unmanned "Sabre-Jets." It's like a chess match between a grandmaster and three super-computers at Mach 1 with missiles and bullets instead of bishops and pawns. Hopefully the filmmakers will be able to pull off the same level of excitement on screen that there is in the script. I'm trying to think of dogfights that aren't awesome. Sure, Stealth wasn't Oscar material, but when they were in the sky, everything was just so damn cool. So get ready to add Green Lantern to the list of movies that have a sweet arial showdown between billion dollar hunks of metal. #3 - Power Rings Of course this was going to contain power rings! It wouldn't be a Green Lantern movie without them. But after reading the script, DAMN, the things that the power rings do are awesome. While we still have a long time until that glorious moment when we see a trailer and see what they actually look like, I can assure you that the the things the rings DO are amazing. And yes, I said rings, plural. Start drooling now. Hal will be summoning plenty of badass things from his ring including the classic green fist. But we also see nets, and tons of different weapons. Not to mention plenty of sheer blasts of energy, and one point in the script when Hal creates an entire city from the ring. It's a ring of seemingly limitless power, and we get to see tons of examples of it right from the beginning of the movie. Within the first fifteen minutes of the movie, we get to witness a battle between Abin-Sur and the most bad ass character in the whole script (I'll get to that next). The fight is going to be amazing. Ring blasts, shields, grabbing asteroids with the ring and slamming it around are all part of it, and as far as this movie goes, it's a mini-fight. The rings are the coolest things in this movie, as they certainly should be. #2 - Legion So let me get this straight. Legion is essentially the polar opposite of everything that is the Green Lantern Corps wrapped up in one golden yellow monster? Sign me up. Legion is so badass in this that my mind has a hard time wrapping itself around it. Imagine if you took every scary bad guy and combined them into one terrifying motherfucker covered in armor. He's Predator, Jaws, Alien, Mordred (from Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series), and an octopus all rolled into one. He's described as the size of a whale with the grin of a shark and tentacles of an octopus. Sounds a little cheesier than scary. Until I think back to any video I've ever seen of an angry octopus that kills everything - then give it a shark mouth and lethal blasts of yellow energy. When you see the concept art of this guy you're going to wet your bed for a week. Legion spends all of his time on-screen killing. That's all he does. At one point you think he might take a break, but after lulling his prey into a false sense of security, he lashes out and destroys everyone. Legion is such a badass, that a splinter of his armor that gets separated from him creates the Earth-based villain. So if a splinter of this thing is capable of creating an evil telekinetic madman, I can't even imagine the level of evil that Legion is capable of. He is the reason that grown men might need to wear diapers to this movie. #1 - Epic Battles After reading this script, I can't stress enough how magnificently HUGE it is. Green Lantern comics have always dealt with far more than just our measly little "Earth problems." So why limit our fights between on super powered good guy and one super powered bad guy? So the writers went with the approach of including epic battles that could cause a popcorn shortage when this movie comes out. The best part is the scale of these fights. Hal Jordan isn't the only one fighting in this movie. The entire Green Lantern Corps joins in to fight Legion. So everything you imagined Hal Jordan doing as a Green Lantern is actually multiplied exponentially when you seen hundreds of Green Lanterns fighting at the same time. The battles in this movie are going to be what you would get if you took the entire Roman Army from the opening battle in Gladiator and gave each of them a ring of limitless power, then took every member of the Barbarians they fought against and wrapped them into one huge and terrifying motherfucker (see above), and decided to have a half hour battle. Green Lantern deserves a galactic canvas on which to paint his badass-ness, and this script definitely delivers one. 2010 needs to get here. NOW! http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/10/...lantern-movie/ |
An Oscar Nominee as the Green Lantern?
One way to up your Hollywood profile is to star as a superhero, just ask Robert Downey Jr. and Christian Bale. Of course, it has to be in a good superhero movie, just ask Ioan Gruffudd. So, who is apparently eyeing a role as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in Green Lantern? Why none other than Ryan Gosling according to LatinoReview. LR is reporting the news from what they refer to as a "trusted source within the Warner Bros" and based on their history with being the first to name Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight and Brandon Routh as Superman in Superman Returns I am not going to doubt them. I doubt I need to remind the majority of you who Ryan Gosling is, but just in case he starred in the sappy romantic drama The Notebook with current girlfriend Rachel McAdams (Limited Edition DVD on the way), the crappy thriller Stay, was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Half Nelson and starred opposite Anthony Hopkins in another crappy thriller called Fracture. Oh, he also was replaced by Mark Wahlberg in Peter Jackson's upcoming Lovely Bones adaptation and fell in love with a blow-up doll in Lars and the Real Girl. I believe Gosling has talent, but I am yet to truly enjoy any of his films. I know nothing about the Green Lantern, but I wouldn't be surprised if he nailed it and it's nice to see studios are thinking outside the box and attempting to hire actors for their upcoming superhero flicks as opposed to faces. It was recently reported by First Showing that producer Donald DeLine was "gearing up to start shooting [Green Lantern in] early spring [2009]" with Greg Berlanti ("Everwood") directing with an eye for a 2010 release. http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/article...tern__20081008 |
Warner Bros. is set to hire Martin Campbell to direct DC Comics adaptation Green Lantern, with the parties now in negotiations.
Campbell, most famous for directing two of the best modern Bonds - Casino Royale and GoldenEye - replaces Greg Berlanti, who wrote the script and was initially set to direct. The trade mag reports that Green Lantern is now the top DC Comics priority for studio Warner Bros., with JLA and another Superman movie both continuing to stall, and Christopher Nolan taking his time over a third Batman film. Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green co-wrote the script with Berlanti, whilst Body of Lies producer Donald De Line is overseeing. Warner Bros. next job will be to find an actor to play the iconic character, with Aaron Eckhart and Ryan Gosling previously rumoured for the role. Before he gets cracking on Green Lantern, Campbell will have to finish post-production on the Mel Gibson starring thriller Edge of Darkness. |
I would really like to see Campbell and Gosling get the jobs.

Both Fillion and Boreanaz are TV guys so no dice there. I can't think of the right man for the job. All the stars that come to mind are eaither too young (Chris Pine), too old (Dennis Quaid, Bill Paxton), too soft (Benden Fraser) or box office poison (Thomas Jane). I'm going to have to give this some serious thought. |

Maybe Josh Brolin?

So massacre man, I take it you're a fan of The Green Lantern huh? Honestly, I never got too deep into comics, and have skipped over this thread untill now. I know almost nothing of The Green Lantern, but from the sounds of things this movie is going to make me shit my pants? That may be over doing it a little. However your excitement is contagious, and your depictions of the script have my attention. If it's half as good as "might need to wear diapers to this movie", then I'm there dude.

So, I just found a fan trailer on YouTube...normally I don't pay much attention to stuff like this, but this one is fantastic, and I had to post:

It looks like Warner Bros. is close to settling on a man to play the Green Lantern, with the short-list now down to three to play the Air Force pilot-turned superhero.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actors who have made it through two rounds of auditions and into the final reckoning to play Hal Jordan are Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake. That's bad news for Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill and Jared Leto, who the trade mag reports had their own screen tests early in the process. The main players involved are struggling to come to a consensus however, with director Martin Campbell, producer Donald De Line and the studio each having a different favourite among the finalists. The Reporter also claims that there a worries over the budget, with Warner apparently balking at the hefty $150-200m price tag. The film is still scheduled for a December 2010 opening however, so expect the role to be cast imminently. |
If that's true then Cooper, please.
|
Justin Timberlake could be a good Kyle Rainer, but not Hal.
|
They didnt hear you, MassMan.
He's played both Hannibal King and Deadpool for Marvel, campaigned for the role of The Flash, and is married to the Black Widow. Now actor Ryan Reynolds has won the title role in Warner Bros.' film adaptation of DC Comics' Green Lantern. According to both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, the 32 year-old Canadian beat out the likes of Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto for the part of pilot-turned-cosmic hero Hal Jordan. Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, The Mask of Zorro) directs from a screenplay by Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. Filming is expected to begin this January in Australia after Reynolds wraps the thriller Buried. No word yet on what Reynolds' casting might mean for the Deadpool spin-off movie, but Reynolds is a big enough comics fan to likely appear in both franchises. |
Quote:
He'll be OK for Green Lantern, but he's just so fucking perfect for Deadpool. If he does end up playing both, there'd better be a joke about it in the Deadpool movie, heh. |
I can live with Reynolds. I would have preferred Cooper as Jordan and Reynolds to play Wally West though. Can't complain.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...dslantern1.jpg |
Hal Jordan - I liked the David ?Boreanaz? rumour, looked more the part...but yeah I'd have rather seen Cooper.
Kyle Rayner - The younger brother from Supernatural ...and how about Guy Gardner? Sean William Scott was like, born for that role. |
Ever since Ryan Reynolds was cast as the title character in Warner Bros.' Green Lantern comic-book adaptation, the film has shot to the top of the most-anticipated DC movies in active development.
But a new report today may be putting a bit of a damper on that particular production. According to Inside Film, and a Twitter feed from Production Weekly, Green Lantern's "proposed Australian shoot is understood to be under threat after the rising Australian dollar has blown out production costs." Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, The Mask of Zorro) is directing the film from a screenplay by Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. Filming was expected to begin this January in Australia. |
Things are hotting up on project Green Lantern, and Spoiler TV have picked up an interesting casting call which, obviously, reveals a few of the characters that will joining Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan.
First up is Carol Ferris, described as "female lead, 26-32... a smart and attractive woman with an MBA, she started as a pilot and now runs Ferris Aircraft. She is a workaholic..." In the comics, Jordan went to work for Ferris as a test pilot, and romance blossomed among the aerospace components. No indication here though that Ferris' stint as supervillainess Star Sapphire is on the cards. Maybe that's being saved for sequels. Next up is Dr Hector Hammond, who requires "character actor, 27-35". The press released describes him as "austere and impersonal, real scummy, a pathologist and also the son of a senator." We love real scummy... The comics Hector Hammond is a wealthy villain who can control minds using some meteor fragments he once stumbled across in the woods. Third call is for a Sinestro: "mid-30s to mid-40s, smart, tough, intimidating and in great physical shape." No surprise here, really, since Sinestro is one of the biggest villains in the Green Lantern canon. He's a rogue Lantern who used his ring of power for evil, rather than good, and got himself banished to an antimatter universe. There he got himself a yellow ring, which causes all manner of problems for the entire Green Lantern Corps when he gets back to the Universe proper, because, er, yellow is impervious to Green Lantern-ness (Frank Miller has a lot of fun with that in his All-Star Batman and Robin series). He later creates the Sinestro Corps, leading to a major green vs yellow war. And finally, they are looking for Abin Sur, described simply as "mid-30s to mid-40s, he is a great warrior". According to the comics, he's also an alien history professor from the planet Ungara, and the member of the Green Lantern Corps that recruits Hal Jordan. That'll be the mentor role then. So, two villains (possibly three), a love interest and a Ben Kenobi. What's the storyline? Your guess is as good as mine. |
In the script Carol doesn't become a Star Sapphire. I'm really hoping the things from the script that change most are the ending and maybe throwing Atrocitus into the mix.

If this new rumor indeed pans out, then actor Jackie Earle Haley has just become the go-to-guy for DC's live-action comic book adaptations.
Ain't It Cool News reports that a source within the production of Green Lantern has disclosed that Haley is the leading candidate to play the villainous Sinestro in Warner's forthcoming movie. Haley is best known to fanboys for playing Rorschach in Watchmen and for his supporting role in the TV series Human Target, both of which are based on DC titles. Haley will soon be seen as the new Freddy Krueger in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. AICN also adds that it's heard that, in an attempt by DC and Warner to take a page from Marvel's cross-over playbook, Superman will indeed have a cameo in the Green Lantern movie as has been previously rumored. |
Jackie's a fine actor and all, but I don't see it not looking awkward.
http://blahblahblah.beloblog.com/GL25.jpg Hal Jordan and Sinestro. But Haley is 5'5" and Reynolds is at least 6'1" |
Bottom line: Jackie Earle Haley doesn't know if he's going to play the villainous Sinestro in Green Lantern, as had been rumored over the weekend.
In a red carpet chat with Collider at this past weekend's Spike TV's 2009 Scream Awards, Haley said the casting rumor was news to him and that he had not screen-tested for the role. Haley didn't rule out that such an opportunity might arise in the future, but he said that as of now it's merely a rumor that he'd just heard about moments before during another interview. It should be noted that Haley's casting as Freddy Krueger in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street began largely the same way: as an Internet rumor that he hadn't heard about which ultimately came true. So who knows? Maybe Sinestro will go the same way. |
Ryan Reynolds is gearing up for the role of his life when he takes on Green Lantern, DC and Warner Bros.' next big superhero picture. The actor recently spoke to MTV about the project as well as his involvement in the Wolverine spin-off Deadpool.
For starters, Reynolds says that he's seen the GL suit -- and he's psyched. "Seeing the prototypes for the Green Lantern costumes was a huge moment," he says. "It was a moment when I was like, 'This is happening, and it's happening in the right way.' That's a pretty cool, definitive moment for me." He also says that he wasn't hugely familiar with the character prior to becoming aware of the film project. "I've known about Green Lantern my whole life, but I've never really followed it before," he says. "I fell in love with the character when I met with [director] Martin Campbell. When I sat down with him, I really got what it is that this guy is all about. When you have a guy like Martin Campbell, part of his charm is that he has ba--s of titanium, and the other part is that he's slightly crazy, and you have to be to take on something with the scope of Green Lantern." Reynolds has also been taking meetings lately with prospective writers of the proposed Deadpool movie. "Everyone is always looking for that one line, 'What is that character?' and for me it's kind of like, 'There's a guy, and he's in a highly militarized comedic fame spiral,'" the actor explains. "That's not an easy thing to write -- an entire screenplay, let alone a franchise. I had a blast playing Wade [in Wolverine]. Every line I had in that was stuff I thought he would say. It wasn't something that a writer said to me. It was fun to really create that character, including everything he spits out of his awful mouth." |
Ryan Reynolds is talking once again about his upcoming turn as Hal Jordan, the titular hero in Warner Bros. and DC's Green Lantern movie, and the latest he has to say might make some fans happy.
It seems that the film will be more than your typical first-movie origin tale, which is perhaps too often the way superhero movies start off. While discussing the project with MTV, the actor "shied away" from calling the film a full-on origin story. "It is [an origin story] to a certain degree, but it's not a labored origin story, where the movie [truly] begins in the third act," he tells the site. "The movie starts when it starts. We find out Hal is the guy fairly early on, and the adventure begins." Reynolds also compares GL to Marvel's Iron Man film. "I think you walk away from this first film, and the moments that you remember and the moments that mean so much to you, not unlike Iron Man, are the moments where the guy's not in the suit," says the actor. Green Lantern will start shooting next year. |
I think a 10-minute prologue should take place based on Alan Moore's story about Abin Sur meeting Qull of the Five Inversions.
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/ma...x-Qull_001.JPG Basically, the Five Inversions (One of which is Atroicuts, leader of the Red Lanterns) were the five surviving members of the Manhunters massacre on Space Sector 666, they swore to get revenge on the Oans and formed the Empire of Tears which three galaxies. Eventually they got into battle with the Oans on the Empire's capital, Ysmault, and were crucified and melded with the machinery on the planet. It was off limits to all Green Lanterns. After a few eons of going undisturbed an Ungaran ship crashed on Ysmault and Abin Sur was sent to rescue the survivors. Being unable to find the ship, Abin went to the Five Inversions, they all demanded he free them first, except for Qull who simply agreed to answer three questions for nothing in return. He told Abin where to find the one child that survived the crash. The second question was how he would die, Qull told him that at some point in time his ring would fail him at a crucial moment and would be his death. The third question was what the greatest tragedy to befall the Green Lanterns would be, Qull told him it would be when all of the Green Lanterns' enemies rise up and join forces. Abin Sur says that he's not scared but afterward instead flies in a ship and constantly recharges his ring. This lead to his crash on Earth, his ship failed him and he passed through yellow radiation he would have detected if he had been using his ring and not flying the ship. Thus he fell to Earth. The Five Inversions laughed for nineteen weeks. |
Our friends over at Latino Review have been doing a bit of snooping around the production of Ryan Reynolds' superhero flick Green Lantern. And they think they’ve come up with the five female candidates for the Lantern’s high-flying girlfriend, Carol Ferris.
Described in the soon-shooting film script as a demure 27-year-old, the daughter of aerospace entrepreneur Carl Ferris works for Ferris Air, is smart enough to have bagged an MBA, and has been lusting after Hal Jordan (green pants himself) for as long as memory serves. So who fits the bill? LR’s sources pulled five names out of the Hollywood hat: Eva Green, Keri Russell, Diane Kruger, Blake Lively, and Jennifer Garner. Strictly A-list, then. No Rachel McAdams (long linked to the Batman franchise, but no dice so far), and the inclusion of Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively surprises. Though her profile as The CW’s crowning jewel is quickly on the rise, she’s hardly on par with heavyweights Green and Garner. Even Kruger ranks higher, having enjoyed success with this year’s Inglourious Basterds. So which lucky lady will be smooching with Ryan Reynolds come January? Keep guessing till the official announcement. |
Diane Kruger. Do it. Now.
