Behind the mask

Has anybody seen the movie Behind the mask. I watched it a few months ago and I thought it was pretty entertaining.

Any thoughts?

Clever film...Definitely original....The Mockumentry style was refreshing for the horror genre this day in age. A must see for any "slasher" fan.

I'd go a step further...IMO this is right up there with the classic slashers that it spoofs. Easily one of the greatest horror movies of the decade - brilliant script, some great actors, and more originally than Hollywood can manage with 20 times the budget.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. I recommend this movie to pretty much everyone I know, heh.

I thought it was fresh and original. Good ideas that were well executed.

It's pretty cool but it doesn't really stand up to repeat viewings. Inside is one of the few flicks that rank among the classicks of the subgenre for me.

Ive seen Behind the Mask-Rise of Leslie Vernon and liked it also. For me the movie was on a similar plane as Romero's Martin (1978) and Fade to Black
(1980). Obsession, Cunning and Psychosis make for a perfect serial killer/slasher flick.

But what a retarded mask. Seriously. When we were introduced to the serial killer, I honestly thought that it was still a joke. I thought that its lameness was on purpose. But no.

I thought that the mockumentary parts were brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Clever. Well-written (LOVE the term "Ahab" for the Dr. Loomis archetype). But the transition into horror simply failed. Because of how brilliantly funny Leslie Vernon was as the interviewee, I just could not believe him as the serial killer. Not to mention, the woman who played the interviewer was an absolutely abysmal actress.

I give it a B for effort, though the latter half of it was not nearly as successful as the first half.

I thought it was dull...

Never been a fan of the new and "refreshing" documentary horror movies.

Yes, another one of its weaknesses.
